Thanks for all the great insight! I played clarinet for like 5 years and didn’t know all the techinalities of music you do. I’ve been kinda fumbling with getting my poling to match the music. Things are much clearer for me now! Can you help me to get my body to do what my mind envisions?

😆 Chrome is great!
Where are you taking lessons? Are you using x-pole in your classes? What kind of pole do you have now?
If it’s an LM stainless (I loathe them) they seem to be much slippier than the Platinum Stages.
Congrats on all of those moves!!!!! That is a lot of progress in 3 visits! NOW YOU HAVE TO COME OUT FOR POLE JAMS https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I’m taking lessons at Wonder Women Pole Studio; it just opened up last week in Lake Orion. Their poles are about 12 foot permanent mounts, 4 brass and 2 chrome, not sure what brand. I have the PS stage mount and have been dying to get rid of it bc the stage is a pain. I need to get a permanent mount because I have cathedral ceilings. Any recommendations? I’m still not ready for your pole jams; you guys are crazy good! I would knock everyone else off the pole during doubles and triples! And the hubby is feeling like a pole widow right now! Soon! Maybe Elona would let us play around in the studio, she’s not quite booked up yet.

October 28, 2010 I’ll be 40! I’m thinking I’ll celebrate at an ameteur night! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

Jungle,
You’re not a traitor; you’re being honest! When my husband gets crap from the guys at work for supporting feminism or being metrosexual- I told him to tell them "hey, chics dig that shit, my wife goes to the strip club with me and gets lapdances". https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gifThat usually shuts them up! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif

OMG! I’m not the only one?! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif
I’ve found I walk on my tiptoes a lot. Sometimes my husband catches me jiggling my badonkadonk and I didn’t even realize I was doing it. Recently at the grocery store I was jamming on the IPOD, when I went to get an item that was on a low shelf I went into the bunny pose (drop down, open and close the knees). I caught myself and was so embarrassed I didn’t look up for 2 aisles. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif -
I have a commercially made pole mounted on a stage. It weighs 150 lbs and required over 100 lbs of sandbags to weigh it down. It occasionally tilts a bit when I get crazy and bows a little as well. I’ve found most my mishaps are from falling off the stage rather than the pole. It makes floorwork nearly impossible and takes up a ton of floorspace. The stage impedes me a lot. I think stages really aren’t a good choice for beginners (which I still am I guess). I plan on getting a freestanding pole when I can afford it. I’m wondering how much you’ll save building your own pole? Good luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif

I showed this thread to the hubby to see if he’s be more comfortable about me posting vids. FIrst, my husband wanted me to clarify that he wasn’t "insanely jealous". I may have exaggerated a bit for effect. Second, we had a long conversation and it turns out his main concern is that I wanted to show the vids to men I know. He doesn’t care if they happen upon them, but he thought I was going to encourage men to watch them. So we cleared that all up and I’ll be posting soon hopefully! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif
Oh, junglecat- thanks for the male perspective. I appreciate your frankness. I almost choked on my sandwich! We need an occasional reminder about how insecure, simple and disgusting boys can be! It helps us keep them in their place! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_jokercolor.gif

Me and my hubby go to strip clubs too but I think my expanding pole knowledge is taking the fun out of it because all I do is critique the girls and explain all the moves to him.
"See that? That’s a gemini, I can almost do that….oh and see how she just did that and then her legs came up real slow…that’s a shoulder mount and it takes so much core strength…."
after a while he’s like https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif
LOL!!!
Yeah, we ruin it for them! My husband gets mad that I talk to the girls. It makes them "real people" and then it spoils his fantasies. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

cbr,
I’m so sorry for your pain! Your subject included the word advice. Are you sure you want advice? No one but you can know what’s best for you. But as a third party, I can make some impartial observations. As someone whose marriage is probably falling apart, I can sympathisize. As a crisis worker, I can listen and offer support. First, you have no reason to feel like scum of the earth for what you’ve done! Your gut told you something was wrong, so you did some investigating and confirmed it. Your bf and this other woman seem awfully inappropriately close. They’ve only known each other a month? You’re scared and sad he may be falling for her. Understandably. They are sharing intimate feelings. Perhaps they are just friends. If so, he’s giving much of his time and support to her instead of you. Either way, just the fact that you are devastated by his actions indicates something about your relationship is not meeting your needs. If your realtionship was strong, you would trust that he isn’t doing anything wrong. It sounds like you’re worried about how he will react to your actions. He will be less likely to react with anger or get defensive if you approach him with concern instead of accusatory. Also focusing on how you feel will help communication. "I" statements rather than "you" statements are more productive. For example "I feel neglected" rather than "You’re ignoring me". Perhaps discussing this relationship with this woman will open up some honest dialogue between you. Within every crisis lies an opportunity for growth and change. Whatever happens, know you will be ok. If you want to talk to someone anonymously, the crisis line I work on runs 24-7 at 800-231-1127.

LOL! Yep it seems like an oxymoron. My hubby recently complained I wasn’t being sexual enough…Hello! I pole dance and take you to strip clubs! You can’t pole dance without being in touch with your sexuality or sensuality. I tell my husband he has to sneak into the room to catch me practicing, or I get silly. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_geek.gif

Yeah! I’m not the only one! My husband has been like "Hey, I thought this was my birthday present! I’ve had 2 shows in six months and I paid $600 for this!" He thinks I tricked him. I agree that seeing the practice, especially the screw ups, spoils the show. I’ll have to tell hubby that. I get nervous when he watches, and even when I turn the camera on; I’ll have to try closing my eyes. I’m definitely showing him this thread!

Men can masturbate over just about anything.
We could be scaredies and make sure to never throw out our feminine napkins with the regular trash- because some weirdo might sniff them.
Or wear supersmocks outside (maybe a burqa?) because someone might find us sexy.
I respect my husband… when he’s not being an idiot.
Amcut- you are f in HEElarious! First line made me LOL. The next one made me spray yogurt all over my desk. Third and fourth had me nodding in agreement and chuckling. Coworkers think I’m crazy! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/alien.gif
My husband has become insanely jealous at the thought of me posting videos. We’ve had several talks and gotten nowhere. I tried to reassure, said I’d only post "tricks", no "wiggle" and no heels and lingerie. But then this month’s challenge got me thinking and I really want to post it all. I want to show off my skills and I want feedback and criticism. I don’ want to sneak and do it, cuz I don’t do sneaky well and that makes things worse. So I’m printing this thread and leaving it for him to read. Wish me luck! I’ve got the perfect song for ametuer night!

Thanks Saschapoles, that help a lot. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumleft.gif
I’m glad I didn’t waste my money buying something there’s no way I could squeeze into! Your booty definitely isn’t large, and you were showing some cheek in that pic! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif -
Veena- if your booty is a medium, then I must be at least a double xl!
Oh well! I’ll keep tucking my shorts into the waistband; it looks like I’m wearing a diaper! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_joker.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_joker.gif -
Ok, someone help me, plaease! I was checking out the sizing chart on the boy shorts. I’m currently down to a size 10, but barely. Large is like a lttle over 12 inches across. So can I assume that means they’re about 24 inches total?? So how stretchy are they, cuz aint no part of my booty area near that number!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif
Has anyone with a badonkadonk ordered these yet? -
Thanks for the support and tips! I knew how to get out of the scorpio, I just forgot because I was so excited. I get brainfarts! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
Sascha, I have the lessons and they’ve helped a bunch. Wish there were more! *(hint, hint Veena)*

Natalie- you’ve NEVER fallen off your stage??!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_eek.gif
You must be more graceful, cautious, or stronger than I am. This was my first "bad" fall, but I’ve had a handful of smaller ones. I’ve tripped or had too much momentum spinning or just blanked out like this time. I’ve also started hitting things because my spins are getting bigger. I have opened my bedroom curtains with my feet many times now; I’m sure the teenage boy that lives behind me doesn’t mind! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif
I like to "let er rip" and go crazy; I should probably tone it down a notch until I get my other pole. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_safesex.gif -
I wouldn’t recommend just letting go and hoping you land on your free foot (lemme guess: that’s what you did https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_tongue.gif)
I may have done that. I was so excited that I just blanked out! Your moral is much better than mine! I just get carried away sometimes. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif -

This clean language rule- does it apply to songs in our videos? Cuz I got a really HOTT song but it uses the f word! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_surprised.gif

Looks unstable! I’ve got a platinum stage and it doesn’t have nearly as much bend, and no sway at all. Of course it weighs 150 lbs and is weighted down with an extra 160 lbs of sand in the stage. You can’t get stability in a free standing pole without a LOT of weight. Notice the girls in the video were mostly moving slowly and not putting crazy torque on the pole? This pole would only be good for lightweight stuff; you couldn’t go nuts on it. What’s the point if you can’t go as fast and hard as possible?! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_bounce.gif

Kimber- welcome! I’m no pro; I’ve been poling since last fall- but I know a few things. First things first: it’s gonna hurt and you’re gonna get bruises. Both will lessen as you improve. Repeat after me: https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_blackeye.gif "Bruises are SEXY!" https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_blackeye.gif I would recomend taking lessons so you can learn the proper techiniques. Veena’s lessons have really helped me, she breaks down the moves real well. I got frustrated with slow progess when I started; it takes time to learn. Alcohol is good, so is washing hands with hot water and using no lotions. As for the wrist pain, hmm… how bad does it hurt? You may have sprained it or maybe overworked it. Take it easy awile and let it heal. I like to alternate days working hard to learn new things and days focusing on technique, transitions and the "dancy" stuff. Welcome to poling; I hope you enjoy it here at SV; everyone’s so supportive.
Peace. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif -
Amcut-
Yep, Counting Crows:
Mr.Jones lyrics
I was down at the New Amsterdam staring at this
yellow-haired girl
Mr. Jones strikes up a conversation with this black-
haired flamenco dancer
She dances while his father plays guitar
She’s suddenly beautiful
We all want something beautiful
I wish I was beautiful -
It does get better! I started last fall and almost gave up after a month or so of little progress. I was out of shape and getting beaten and battered on every move. So I lowered my expectations and danced more for fun than mastering new moves. I also added weight training in there and slowly progressed. Now I can do lots of spinning and a couple inverts, and I’ve lost 12 pounds! Props to you for sticking to it!
