Good to know it’s not just me. I actually have kind of big hands but my grip just isn’t as good on the 50. I would never have thought 5mm would make that big a difference. Now I know. I’m just going to have to learn to work with it.

I’m just seeing this thread. I signed up on the other Christmas tree splits challenge thread. This is my progress. Some days are better than others but I’m going to keep working. The struggle is real on the middle splits.

I use wrist supports pretty frequently. I have a double whammy of tendinitis and loose-ish joints. The wraps help support and maintain positioning.

Thanks for the responses ladies. Pole is completely different from any other workout I’ve done in the past so I’ll have to be more careful to make sure my water and food intake stays on point.

Thanks Shoog. I hadn’t really thought about it but my food intake was off the last couple days. I didn’t eat my usual meals and snacks. This was probably my body’s way of saying “Oh you don’t want to feed me, okay see what you get.”

I can invert with straight legs but it’s not easy and I have to think about. There’s a pilates exercise that I think is pretty helpful. You lie on your back on the floor with your arms by your side, then with legs together and straight or as straight as possible you roll you legs up and over your head in a pike position. Once your toes touch the floor spread your legs into a “V” then lower them back down engaging your core and keeping the legs straight. Do this 3-4 times them switch the leg motion. Raise with legs in a “V”, bring toes together then lower in pike position. I hope that makes sense.

  • I’m new to pole and filming myself has made a huge difference in the progress I’m making. Oddly, I hadn’t really thought about what my body looks like outside of positioning and such. I don’t feel vain watching the footage repeatedly either. Heck, football players and other athletes spend hours upon hours studying game footage. We’re doing the same thing. Back to the body image piece – I think it’s easy to fall into the trap of focusing on what the body looks like versus what it feels like. When I feel good, feel strong and have energy I know I’m doing something right.

I’m new to pole but I haven’t felt any shame to date. I haven’t shared my new hobby with many people but that has more to do with the fact that I’m a fairly private person not because I’m ashamed. I’m sorry that some of you have had to deal with the comments and treatment you have.

I actually have a camera and tripod I bought a while back for recording stuff for my YouTube channel (not pole related). Now it’s doing double duty but the tripod isn’t quite as tall as I need so I set the tripod up on top of a table, LOL.
