thanks so much everyone!  all of your replies were very helpful.  last night i did a relaxing yoga dvd, but it was still hard to go to sleep.  i think that stretching is rejuvenating in alot of ways – i feel refreshed after, rather than exhausted and sleepy from being on the computer or reading.  so maybe i need to spend that last hour before bed doing something that will make me sleepy…  🙂

hi danielle  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif   i was in my sweats and already kind of warm, did a little movement around the pole but nothing strenuous.  maybe i just need to do more slow and gentle stretching.  even though it wasn't a workout, i was using energy.  or maybe it was just so different for my body, it didn't know how to respond, lol  🙂

my stainless pole is still like new.  and slippery as ever, lol.  i don't think stainless decays at all, no matter what.  for a second pole, i'm thinking about a l'il mynx black powder coat…

my statue also has a couple of small pits/holes and marks from the damp.  i don't live near the ocean, just in a very humid and rainy area.  it seems to be worse when it is cold/damp.  so sorry this happened to you!  i know i would be freaking.

hmmm..  i live in a very humid climate.  i have a statue (that is probably brass and copper mostly) that got patina'd very quickly.  i guess i will forget about getting a brass pole   https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

there's so much good advice here!  i don't know if i will ever be smooth and graceful with tricks, but i'm going to try all of these tips.  i have been including freedances before my practice (always too tired after).  @ottersocks – i wish i could take your class, too!

hey gummypia – thanks for the info!  i have never tried anything aerial – yoga, silks, hammock, etc. but i think they go well with pole, and it would be great to have a studio that offered both!  the studio maui is kind of expensive.  i used to go there for yoga when i first moved here, thinking i would meet friends, but i never met any friends there.  i may check out those aerial classes, but i'm really more interested in pole!  haven't heard anything from our ffg lady….

i love hilo, and the whole puna area.  the black sand beach, the red road, the natural steam vents – and the slow pace.  i feel so peaceful there.  🙂

nice!  i have 50mm stainless as well.  which yoga studio will you be in?   i remember there were a couple of yoga places offering pole on the big island, but then they stopped.   i usually get over to the big island once a year – usually in the summer/fall.  hawaiian air is very reliable, you don't have to worry about being stuck for hours because of delays – they are always right on time.  they have flights like every hour, and there are always some cheap ones to choose from on the website.  good luck getting your poles and getting all set up!!  🙂

my most painful move was the gemini  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_evil.gif  it took me forever to be able to do it without pain and big bruises behind the knee/calf.  now it's the marley!   i have no problems with superman, go figure.  but i am anticipating my most painful moves will be knee hold and armpit holds (yogini especially).

okay – i'm wearing the scrunch ones (they are actually not scrunchy at all on me, you can't even see the scrunch seam in the video – prob. because i have no butt, lol.) in  – friday chat part 1 (it's the third row down, 11th video).  and the fold overs are in – cartwheel mount practice (an old one, like on the fourth page).  just remember they will fit everyone different.  my butt is kind of small and i have no hips!  so they prob. look totally different on the badkitty models than on me.

@luvlee – i will find two videos where i am wearing the shorts, and tell you the titles.  then you can just go to my profile and videos and see them.  it might take me some moments to find which ones but i will get back to you!

@sensualscimitar – as a boobs falling out of tops expert, from looking at that mika top, i would say it would not hold them in!!

that is great luvlee!  https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif  i have black mikaela shorts.  and i have the polefit shorts – both the fold-over,  and scrunch butt ones – they are great for those moves that require your upper upper thigh to grip the pole (the scrunch butt ones)  xx

i would also say at least 8 weeks, regardless of where her incisions are.  she will know when she is ready by how she feels.  she could try some dancing around the pole, and then if that is comfortable, some basic spins.  pole is totally different than any other activity – and doctors do not understand what it is unless they have tried it themselves.  i recently had my implants removed (very simple procedure), and it was 3.5 weeks before i could do anything on the pole without pain.
