i plan to come over there sometime in the fall or winter. i am about to leave for a 5 week trip to the east coast and abroad (leaving on may 20, returning end of june), so it will be a little while before i can spend on any other trips. i have been to honolulu, met islandgirl001 and some of the other fit4agoddess ladies and we had a little jam at the studio. i also want to get over to the big island and meet trixie lovett and see her new place in hilo! i wish inter island flights were cheaper.

thank you lina and corby! @ corby – you should come over!

wow, thank you SO MUCH everyone! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif it was so great to check my email this morning and see all of your messages! i am going to send all of you friend requests. my whole purpose is to get more women (and men) interested in pole, not just in hawaii, but everywhere. and since so many people use facebook, i feel it's a good way to spread awareness, and educate people on the awesomeness of pole!

thanks, steffie! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif i sent you a friend request!

i am wondering how far the camera has to be from the pole, in order to get the entire pole in the picture.
i too have a cheap digital camera (kodak easyshare). it has an HD option, but you can only get about 6 feet of the pole in the pic. so i never record in HD. i would like to find something a little better quality. my videos are in 640 x 480, which is fine – but i like to capture photos from them, and the photo quality is not very good. i know of some good cameras, but they are all around $700. any ideas anyone?

i go for a little run once in a while, but mostly hate it. i have never gotten a high from running. even back in high school when i would run regularly. always feel like crap afterward. i don't like aerobic exercise in general. sometimes i even feel like crap after a good pole practice, LOL. but definitely get an emotional high from pole! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

like jag said, just upload it to youtube and then share on facebook. it was probably because of the music. even if the music is live in the video, they still consider it infringement.

charley, i disagree! i think you are amazing!

ha ha fuzzynavel! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif i need to work on this too. i am always trying to think of what to do next, and my mind goes blank. it is so discouraging. maybe i should start making routines instead of trying to freestyle.

thank you so much, pia! i love spinny. i am just starting to get better at it. i would be happy to do some butt-kicking for you ladies! LOL!
-
i will definitely make it over there sometime. and i would LOVE to have a pole jam here. you are all invited! maybe we could have a party after. you ladies don't need lessons from me, we can just share tricks. i need to learn some new combos!
-
hi gummy! that is so great that you have organized these pole jams! it sounds like SO much fun. i loved your idea of making each person in charge of something for the session. and i like holly's idea of chatting and catching up during the warm-up part, then getting started on the list of moves to work on. i admit, i'm jealous! i wish inter-island flights were cheaper!!!

LOL! i actually found this helpful, because i wanted to delete one of my comments from a discussion the other day. maybe we can get a delete button for discussion comments if we ask nicely…

to explain a little more – one of the main functions of the colon is to re-absorb water back into the body. you will notice afterward that you will have to pee more than usual that day. the entire body gets hydrated, which is great, especially for the kidneys. that is why it is so important to use spring water or purified water. tap water (even for an enema at home) is not the greatest, since it usually contains fluoride and other chemicals that could harm your natural flora. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

hey nolaelle https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif in my opinion, pole IS a form of contemporary dance. sometimes it is just called aerial pole, or like jojo said – aerial acrobatics. pole dance can be any kind of dance you want it to be. you could show him a video of Oona, or one of the dancers who have more gymnastic or ballet style. that might be a good intro. good luck and keep us posted!

sorry, i couldn't delete it! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif i agree that most doctors want to help their patients. it's just depressing how many sick people there are, and how the statistics show cancer and other diseases are on the rise.. that's why i always encourage people to do their own research and not just listen to the mainstream…
-
sorry, gummypia! obviously you are one of the good doctors. i will try to delete that comment that i wrote.. i wish there were more like you out there.. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_heart1.gif

okay, i read the article by the mayo clinic guy. not a very good article at all. for one thing, colon hydrotherapy is extremely hydrating to the body – and that is a fact! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif also, if people were able to get rid of all of the toxins and waste that they dump into their bodies, we would not have all of these illnesses. america's health is on a fast decline. people are getting sicker and sicker, while big ag, big pharma, as well as the cancer industry, are making billions.

hey lyme! well i can see this is going to be a controversial subject, and i don't want to argue with anyone… but i have had amazing experiences with colonics (and i used to work with a woman in san francisco who had a colon hydrotherapy practice, so i have given about 100 or so colonics to people). first of all, most doctors tend to be against anything that is natural, mostly because they have limited education, and treat everything with drugs. in my actual experience working with people, plus my own experience, colon hydrotherapy does not disrupt the natural intestinal flora. you can take some acidophilus afterward if you are worried about it. and from what i have actually seen come out of people (with my own two eyes!) the most dramatic results happen when the person is doing an herbal cleanse (taking colon cleansing herbs in combination with a cleansing diet). however, you don't have to do a big cleanse. just eat lots of raw fruits and veggies for a few days. you can also have plain potatos, and use apple cider vinegar and lemon juice for salad dressing. there are lots of good herbal cleanse programs available at health food stores. good luck! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

MemberApril 10, 2012 at 12:12 am in reply to: Alethea Austin DVDs. Progress after a few weeks/months?i have also been doing the "pure splits" and "stretching for pole" dvd's for 8-9 weeks. except that i only do them once (or twice max) per week. in the beginning i tried doing them more often, but found that two days in a row was not beneficial to me. for example, my splits would be better on the first day than the second. i found that if i leave at least a couple of days in between stretching, i progress much further and much faster. maybe that's just me, or my muscles need more recovery time than others'. anyway, i have had amazing progress. i just got my right fronts on march 30!

looks beautiful! i love your wall colors. congratulations! can't wait to see the poles! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_porc.gif
