Well we don’t have WIFI at the studio (just running it as a side job and only open for the few classes we have) so any sort of internet radio is out.

We use a really cheap tablet as an mp3-player which works well for us; however, I have to download music at home then load it up on the tablet.

Music rights is a very important topic in Germany, so I contactet GEMA (they represent all musicians here and make everyone pay) before we even opened. I have to pay 3% off all the money we make with our classes :-/

johnssdeere, what are EDM and Pandora?

sparrow, I usually do the same warm-up routine (with little variations) at the beginning of each class. I found that music with a constant and dominant beat works best… I usually pick one of the two songs named before since they work perfectly, but yeah, I definetly need some variation. I tried other songs but they were either too slow or too fast or just boring.
    It’s not very easy…

Thank you all so much! I put that video on my tablet, among others, to show them.

Another question: It’s been a while, but I remember that someone posted a picture where you could see pole dancers and other athletes doning very sililar poses in camparison. Does anyone know where to find that?

And another one: Does anyone have any video suggestions of someone pole in heels without beilng sexy?

I got everything from Xpole UK. I already contacted them but didn’t get a reply yet.

Ok good to know they sent me some old pieces for replacement. There are some more issues (dents, adjuster cover doesn’t go up the whole way). I hope they’ll exchange them as well…

    Thank you both so far!

I was going to consult my doctor tomorrow and ask him if he seen anything wrong with pole concerning my leg, and I’m hoping that he’ll write that down as well. And yes, I was also going to aks my physical therapist.

    What I’ve done so far:
    – Printed out some information from the German Pole Sports Association regarding our national championships (where one can see that there is a youth and men’s category)
    – Printed out some information about pole as university sports
    – Newspaper Articles about pole being part of the olympics
    – Pictuers of other forms of dance and fitness where womes are wearing equally or less clothing than we do (ballet, salsa, tango, gymnastics, running, beachvolleyball
    – picked some videos to show the varity of pole (without the sexy stuff…)

I’m still kinda nervous, though. I still would like to add something about the pysical benefits of pole that sounds “official”…

I have an XStage Lite and a friend of mine has the original XStage. The original stage is heavier and a pain to travel with, but in my opinion spins more smoothly and longer and has less wobble.

Wow! I’m really jelous that it’s so warm where you live that someone can see your bruises!

Well I have a friend who went out for dinner with her boyfriend and when she went to the restroom a woman told her that she doesn’t need to accept how she’s being treated and that she should get some help.

Funny story, but on the other hand I think we should be thankful that there are people out there caring for total strangers.

These are excellent shoes for pole. The ankle strap gives you support, they don’t have any metal parts that might damage the pole, the clear plastic will help with sticking and lasts longer than patent, also it’s much more comfortable since it’ll adapt to your feet when warmed. The black insole is nice as white tends to get dirty sooner or later.

    SUCCESS!!! FINALLY!!!

On friday I finally did an EG Ayesha which felt surprisigly easy and “right”. I tried again yesterday just to make sure it wasn’t a fluke, and again today, and it’s still there! I can hold it pretty long without feeling any discomfort. I’m so happy!!!

But on the other hand (I know this sounds weird), I’m kinda mad, because it feels so easy. I expected it to be at least a little bit exausting, but it’s not! So I ask myself: why couldn’t that have happeed a lot earlier?

Ok, what to do next? I’ve waited for so long, and now I really can’t wait to move on to the next step. Aysha with split grip? True grip? Straight edge? I’d really like to learn aysha with a back bend so that the legs turn outside. Is that rubber aysha? How can I prepare for that one? And I’d like to work on iron X because my boyfriend promised to take me out to dinner when I finally get that 😀

That’s exactly how I’m doing it. I even drew a circle with an pencil on my floor where the base goes, so I don’t even need a level.
It takes maybe one minute to take it up or down.

I love my permanent mount! Allthough my ceilings aren’t very high (2,47m) I wanted one because it spins so much faster and smoother, plus taking it up and down is a lot faster. I have a pic in my gallery of the mount.

What’s your current pole? I personally would get a different pole. One with better grip and smaller diameter to practise new tricks.

Cherished, yeah that’s a good idea! In fact I just had a 2 hour freestyle-only-practice and videoed it. I’m just a little scared of looking at it 😀
I mostly practice tricks, cause I’m simply addicted to nailing the next move, plus tricks come much easier to me. So sometimes I forget how much I actually enjoy dancing.

Veena, yes, I’ll definitely take some ballet classes. I sometimes do the leg lifts as a warm up, maybe I should do them more often.

Kobajo, that’s exactly the reason why I want my own studio 😀 It would be so awesome to have a nice space with big mirrors!

Thanks for all of these wonderful tipps!
Well maybe I’ll have to explain my “problem” more precise. I don’t really have a problem with flow. I can dance to an entire song without running out of ideas, BUT: do you know the pictures that say “this is what I think I look like and this is how I actually look”? Sort of that. It just doesn’t look how it feels.
My legs and feet turn inwards when they shouldn’t, my arms and hands extend in a way that doesn’t look nice.
I’ll make a video so you can see it. I haven’t done the September challenge yet because of my leg (which is better now) so I’ll take that as a reason to record myself.

I don’t know if you have these in the states, but in Germany you can buy adhesive pads to put in the clothing in every drugstore. If you can’t get something like that, you could just take thin panty liners and cut them in the right size!

Good luck & I bet you’ll do great!
Keep in mind that the audience doesn’t know your routine and probably has no clue about hammock so as long as you’re not falling onto your head they will be impressed!

The patent got ripped off of the top of my shoes (the climbing spot) after only maybe 6 hours of use. So I can’t recommend patent at all! Also, the paint starts to wear off at the platform.
My other shoes, totally clear, seem to last forever.

    Hi!

I have no clue where to buy in the UK but I have another advice: Get a pair with clear top!! Yesterday I damaged one of my shoes with patent top after maybe 6 hours of use only! I knew they wouldn’t be as durable as the clear ones, but only 6 hours of use is really disappointing 🙁
The patent just ripped off of the climbing point.
