When things creep into the spotlight and become open, I say that creates a more viable pathway to constructive change. I firmly believe that the public stigma will evolve and morph to a more positive acceptance. While at the same time many of those who pole will keep the fires burning strongly for the lineage that developped pole and the artistry it we witness today.

The first real pole competition I ever witnessed in person, consisted of five men and five women competing. The gender who managed to elicit the loudest audience response, from a crowd dominated by female attendees, was none other than the men.

Like @dustbunny said "We are our own worst critics."
However that being said I feel it's wonderful to video what your doing. When teaching you'll often hear from me "You ARE what you DO". I'm trying to get dancers to look at their lines in the mirror to forge a strongger "shape to muscle memory connection". Unless you have an outside eye or a great set of mirrors around your pole, the video is an excellent tool to offer you honest feedback. It's so much easier to correct or improve when you know what it is you are realy doing. Film on.

Bad link for Jimi's FB sorry:

Just this weekend at Pole Expo the comp performance overall winner was Jimi Blu. He's 52 proving anyone can kick ass.
You'll find a loud screaming video on his FB page: https://www.facebook.com/jimi.blu
Plus a more frontal shot on Candee's FB page that is easier on the ears: https://www.facebook.com/CandeeCane5

Ask a dozen dancers and you’ll get a dozen different answers. One sure response is the singular fact that Modern came before anything someone might call Contemporary. For me Contemporary is a blend of different styles where Modern is more closely aligned to a singular defined technique style.
I’d study whatever dance technique you felt might best benefit your style of pole. For me that is a combination of ballet and Limon technique. The release and recovery in Limon comes into play for spin work. Ballet for line, core strength and the strong sense of spirals when talking about energy moving through the body to form shapes.

Started with a 50mm chrome X-Pole. However just tried the 40mm X-Pole chrome plus a 38mm brass. Loved them both. So now I’m waiting for X-Pole to release the 40mm brass in the states. The 50mm is just too big for my hands and I feel like I’m over-gripping at times just to hold on.

Will be over at Fawnia’s studio for a few sessions on Saturday, one of them being Veena’s … 🙂

Well happy B’Day Ms. PDAddix. Enjoy it and remember to save the “0” candle from your cake. I’m sure there will be many more times ahead to reuse it. Plus when you finally have to buy a second “0”, I hope you’ll post a picture of you in a pole sit next to the cake right here on StudioVeena

@chemgoddess – Anyone who sits "voluntarily" in an ice bath for a few days makes me wonder.

Hot tub. Now that sounds nice.

I can see why you certainly have problems uploading videos from iPad or iPhone to Veena because they use Adobe Flash as the upload mechanism. That is a problem with iOS devices and for a good reason. There are others ways of doing accomplishing an upload so maybe we just need to bring it to the attention of Webmaster, like sheeffnjay mentioned and he can fix that. I bet he's very aware of this already but maybe an internal Veena email might be helpful in clarifing what the status is. I will send one and report back to this thread when I get a reply.
If you still want to share videos at this point, you could just simply upload them to YouTube and then display the link. Certainly not perfect but it might work for a temp solution for now.

Hey you're attending, the real reason why you're excited and that sounds great to me. Personally I don't feel it serves us well, getting all worked up over being ultra prepared in order to take any workshop. The important thing aspect for me is to be totally present in the moment, with all the skills I have and ready to soak in what the teacher has to offer. Just experiencing the instructor in person, whom I find interesting, is one of the great joys of taking any workshop or even more deliciously, a private.
Sure it's important to grasp what's going to be covered, understand and be able to openly communicate why you really want to attend, plus assess what needs and skills might help you get the most out of the workshop. Yet heck, you are taking a class from somebody you most likely really admire so, enjoy the time with them and the road leading up to it.

Many times immediate wrist pain is something of a more recent event caused by a minor sprain which will heal nicely with rest and ice.
Since you mention that both wrists are exhibiting like symptoms then you might look into what could be causing possible repetitive stress. The wrist is such a complex joint mechanism with many possibilities to consider from torn carpus to cysts. If your pain has been around for a long time especially with no sign of improvement or there is past history of wrist trauma then I'd certainly agree with Jeanie Maire and make sure you get a qualified physician to look at it.

KT Tape – Kinesiology Tape.
I know a good number of DOs and PTs who love the stuff. All cotton, it supplies you with a stable support and does not restrict motion. I believe it expands in one direction of the tape but not in the other. I do remember being told that the elasticity of the tape matches that of our skin, which is a big benefit. If applied correctly, important to note when using, the tape can support injured muscles and soft tisse thus allowing for a speedier recovery even with continued physical activity. It comes off quite nice and even stays on in water.
Good stuff and easy to find.
