I feel in love with the videos by Tara Karina, and Felix Cane on youtube because the ladies looked so beautiful and graceful!! I wanted to be just like them! But after watching the videos day and night waiting to get my pole, I imagined jumping on the pole and being able to invert and spin gracefully.
But boy was I wrong! I could barely do the fireman spin, I couldnt invert, and dancing around the pole made me feel so unsexy!! But the yearn for gracefulness kept me at it and after about 4 months I had lost 10 lbs! The last 10 lbs which is so hard to lose! And keep off!
I still get bruises and I hurt when I try new moves but it is all worth it when I can carry many of groceries all by my self, or open jars! It’s amazing that the grip strength you gain with pole dancing means you will never need to ask a guy to open something for you! And soon, the pole will feel like an extention of your body, it will just feel right. It will feel as right as it feels wrong when you first start. I remember I kept thinking.. is it supposed to hurt THIS MUCH to do a pole sit?! Why don’t I stick?! Why am I sooo weak! But I promise it gets better. If your not into classes order veena’s lessons, they really help you to understand where your body is supposed to go.
Good Luck!!

Hello,
I was very afraid before I put my money down for a pole and that I would make the wrong choice and I spent a lot of time researching my options. I live in Toronto and I bought my X-pole from Studio Veena before there were all the options that there are now. I bought a 50 mm Chrome X-pole. It cost just under $400 Canadian and I got it the next day!!!!!!!!! It was perfect! With the help of my husband we put it up and I loved it!! I toyed with getting the gold one, or the 45 mm one but I wanted to be able to pole on anything so that is why i ended up getting the 50 mm. Also I heard that the gold ones can chip, yuk. Anyway,
I highly recommend buying on from Studio Veena as you can tell it is a reliable source since she has hundreds of members who are addicted to this site. And people like me who has bought a pole from here and had a great transaction with Studio Veena
Good Luck!! If you buy an X-pole you will love it!!

Wow! I’m surprised at how many people live in Southern Ontario!! I wish I could make it! But I’m in a bridal party and the shower is that day, and the last pole jam you guys had I had bridal dress shopping!! This wedding is getting in the way of me meeting some fellow polers! But as soon as you guys have one that I can attend for sure I will be there!!
I live in Toronto and I go out to Brampton all the time on the Go bus and it is really easy. I find that it is best to go to Yorkdale Terminal, you can buy your ticket there and the buses come every half an hour. The ride is like 45 min to an hour…easy peasy!
I hope to meet you all soon!!!

MemberFebruary 5, 2010 at 2:40 pm in reply to: xpole?!?!?! what is wrong with you dear xpole?I am having the same problem with my pole. I have untightened it but Im afraid it might be too loose. Is there something else that could be causing this problem? even when I make it more loose it still feels different than before I took it down and put it back up. It feels the same, it sticks in one spot, and Im stuck between leveling it and tightening it, then putting it on spin and checking, then on static and then untightening, and then on spin to check again, then my arms get tired and I give up, I just can’t seem to get it right!

I am from Toronto and I thought of buying one too but i was afriad so I didn’t and I’m glad because buying from Studio Veena was the best thing ever! It was hard to save the money but every payday I would just transfer what I could into my paypal account until I had $400. It took forever but it was worth it!! With paypal it takes so long to transfer the money in there so it was easy to not take it out. I got my pole the same day I ordered it! I don’t know how but I don’t care cause it was fantastic! So just save your money and get one from studio veena, it will be the best choice ever!

I was wondering if there was anyone else out there who’s man isn’t into their pole dancing!!!! At first I thought he wasn’t into it cause I was terrible, huffing and puffing and falling on the floor from exhaustion isn’t really sexy so I just figured that was the issue, but now I’m getting moves like the scorpio and gemini and when I’m excited to show him a new move he acts so much like he doesn’t care. His brother stayed with us for a while and my husband got upset when I wanted to show a girlfriend some moves because he said it made his brother uncomfortable, but when I questioned his brother later he said he thought it was so cool and he was telling his friends at the gym he worked at about how cool the athetic side of pole dancing is. I wish my husband would be more enthusiastic about my progress but every time I pole dance he acts annoyed! He started playing the guitar and drums and he is so good, and I always encourage him and boast about him to people but he doesn’t when I found something I love. I feel so frustrated because I spent so much time just doing everything for our family and I finally have something I love that I can do for me and he gets angry when I show people. I wonder if it is because he is jealous. I’m gonna try what 2dyzzi said and make him feel more secure, and ask for his help with spotting, i really want to get the CAR but I’m afraid of falling back and landing on my head, lol. Good luck with ur BF and I’m glad I’m not alone!!

I just watched your vid and your sunwheel is looking so good!! Just keep practicing the moves you know until you build enough strength and then you will be surpirsed at how easy the spins come after that! Way to go!!!

Hi there! I am from Toronto, Canada. I first tried to make my own pole but I would not suggest it cause it wrecked my floor and ceiling and it was not the ideal finish and I got terrible grip which made it very difficult to learn.
I saved my money (it took me almost 6 months!) and bought an X-pole from StudioVeena-Best Decision ever! I got my pole the first day I ordered it!!!! It cost me almost $400 Canadian through pay-pal including shipping and taxes. The way I was able to save was by just transfering small amounts into paypal because I have such a hard time saving money and with paypal it takes so long to transfer it out that I would never be tempted to spend it.
Anyway my x-pole is perfect, it is nice and grippy for all the nice upside down moves, and it can spin which makes inverts look pretty, plus you can take it to parties, or move it to different locations. And if you become good enough you can give people lessons in ur area at like bachelorette or fantasia parties and charge the girls like 15- 20 a person and u will make the money back in no time. But even if you don’t, pole dancing is so rewarding, and it will make you feel special cause you can do something other people can’t, and you will feel beautiful and marvelous and just buy a pole and stick with it cause it will be the best thing in your life! (aside from ur kids, lol)

It is so funny that you posted that article because that is how I got into pole dancing. I was looking for DIY ideas, I wanted to make my own headboard and I came across the DIY stripper pole and was intrigued because my husband is a plumber and he said he could make a pole like that easily. I googled pole dancing and came across Tarakarina’s videos and I was hooked from there. I got my husband to get a 1 and a half inch galvanzied pipe, (the measurement goes by the inside of the pipe so it is larger on the outside) he set it up and I was soooo happy! The pole was terrible tho, it is sooo slippery and it turned my hands black so I spray painted it with an alluminum paint, still slippery, then I put a clear topcoat on it which gave it much better grip. So it was ok for me to learn on, I always get all excited about something and then give up, like most excersize routines, I bought all of Carmen electras DVDs and only watched them like 3 times then gave up. So it was an inexpensive way to see if I liked it. Of course I loved it, became quite addicted and I really felt that my homemade pole was holding me back so I saved my money and bought an x-pole from studio veena (best place to buy ur pole, I live in toronto and I got my pole the same day I ordered it, weird eh?)
Bottom line:
The homemade pole left a huge hole in my ceiling and floor as I had to bolt it into place and with every spin ceiling would fall on me.It was very slippery at times which made moves dangerous.
If you are in a dorm you would not want to put it up as it is perminant
It was good becasue it was a free way to see if I liked pole dancing but if you already know that you like it save ur money and buy an x-pole. They are sooooooo awesome, very easy to take down and put up, super good for grip, they spin when u want them to and it requires no holes n ur ceiling and floor, plus, you can take them to parties, it comes with a cool little carrying bag for easy transportation, And purchasing it from studio veena was a great experience (I’m super afriad of buying things over the net)
If you want to see my homemade pole I posted one video on here that I made with my homemade pole, it is the one named my first vid,
Good Luck and really saving for an x-pole is verry much worth it!!!!

What I’ve always wanted to know is what is the name of the move she does at 2:00. I first saw Felix Cane do it and I think it looks so beautiful!! Anyone know what it is called???

I am from Toronto, I have been pole dancing for just over 5 months. I find it incredably addictive!! I wish I had more time to dedicate to pole practise!

Thank you everyone!
I’m feeling much better today. I woke up this morning with no pain, just a little tightness. I tried the stretches and it feels great, like it really stretches the spot that was in pain. I’m going to do the shoulder shrugs and stretches, and make sure I warm up REALLY WELL before I start practicing difficult moves.
I have had this happen before and I never want it to happen again, it was completely debilitating! I also can’t move my neck and have to just sit there in pain. Lying down for me hurts even more, which means sleepless nights. Yuk.
Anyway, today I am going to practice transitions and floor work, and maybe some beginner spins and work slowly back to practicing inverts, all the while still exercising my arms and abs cause I don’t want to lose any strength. I cannot believe how my arms and stomach have changed shape since starting to pole, it is incredible!
Thank you everyone for your help!
I hope your feeling better soon Sissy!

Don’t give up! I thought I was the worst pole dancer ever!! I used to think "Is it supposed to be this HARD?" "Is it supposed to hurt this much??" Thank Veena for this forum, or I would have given up! I had all the same problems, not being able to hold my entire body weight while gracefully spinning around a pole, but practice makes perfect! So keep at it. It took me a month to learn 3 spins, and 3 months to be able to do spins with one hand. Once you have built the strength, you will find it is easier to learn new moves. And you will feel so great when you have muscles in your arms you never had before!!
Don’t Give Up!!!
