Don’t turn anyone away until 5min after class starts. Tell them to wait and see if a pole opens up

Yoga, pilates and contemporary dance. Ballet is a good choice but it is A LOT of work and slightly intimidating because of the perfect posture that you MUST maintain and its in French (I only speak English). You should try it for the experience because it is a great experience and there is a lot to learn. For some one with no prior dance experience (idk if this is you) I would suggest pilates over ballet.

I LOVE THIS CHALLENGE!!! Thanks Descalzada and Veena. I just (not even 2hrs ago) had a conversation with one of my students about being and accepting yourself…" your pole self" for who you are. I posted a video on YouTube of my intermediate class doing their first routine and she is a little embarrassed. Which is OK but then she started picking out ALLLLLLL  the things she did/does wrong… not OK! I told her that the pole world doesn't look like Jenyne Butterfly and no matter how awkward you may feel just be yourself and have fun, no explanations needed. So, I have decided to try and get my whole class involved with this one, especially the write 3 things you like part 🙂

Okay… I got it Pole-Twista. I just call that flipping up but gemini climb works to. I guess in my case it’s a scorpio climb. Thank for the explanation.

What is that https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_question.gif A gemini to me is a inside leg hang so a gemini climb seem impossible to me. I gotta see this! Is it in one of your videos, if not you should make one.

I haven’t read them all yet but, so I hope I’m not duplicating anything…If your reading this thread and falling out in tears right now…If your rings spend more time in the jewelry box, don’t wanna scratch your pole…Skip wearing lotion just in case you get a chance to practice that day…When you dance without a pole you still put your hand(s) over your head…If you have a special play list just for pole dancing songs…If the palm of your hands feel like bricks…If pole burn doesn’t really bother you anymore…If you only have room for 1 pole but you own 2+

This might sound bad… But when I practice/perform I don’t use any deodorant. It gets ALL over the pole, some have oils in them which make it hard for me to grip and other make my pole stiff and hard to spin on and they are all hard to clean off the pole. So I don’t wear any… Problem solved https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif If you don’t have major problems with smell or sweat try it. Also, when I practice/perform I don’t use moisturising body wash, you know body washes with oils infused (or whatever). I just use a bar soap like dove.Pease Out, Happy Poling!

wonderful https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif we need more studios n the area!
I get paid per class. For some reason I couldn’t do direct deposit so I have a pay-pal account set up. The owner of the Catwalk said she likes it better that way, no waiting for instructors to cash their checks. The money is taken out of her account immediately.

I don’t mind having more than one girl to a pole but i let the student decide. we have 10 pole so we only allow 10 girls but if some girls don’t mind sharing than i will let the extra girls stay. the room at the Catwalk is kinda small so it can get crowded quick so I don’t think I would ever allow 20 girls, even if the other girls didn’t mind.

Check other dance studios and fitness clubs for instructors. They might not be able to do pole tricks but they will have at least 1 of 3 qualities need to be a pole instructor (DANCE; jazz, hip-hop, ballet, etc. FITNESS; pilates, cardio fit, Zumba. POLE TRICKS). For local strip clubs go to stripclublist.com to find clubs in the area. Macon, Valdosta, Albany, Cordele and Warner Robins are all on the list. If the clubs on the list even exist I’m sure the girls who work there are board and get plenty of free pole time LOLZ!!! When You get everything together I would be more than happy to come do an instructor course, help show you and your instructors some good teaching methods.
http://www.stripclublist.com/y.asp?s=GA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (copy paste this to address bar; all clubs in GA). You could also check local schools for student who major in dance or fitness and need the extra cash.

For sound system… iPod Dock. Most people have and iPod and it is easier for me to organize my music, no scratched CDs. Hope this helps keep me posted good luck!!!

very good advice, thank you! i didn’t think of that… i should have though. after dancing for 9yrs i know all about girls backing out at the last minute. what a pain in the rump! if i was one of the girls who worked hard and kept to my word i would’ve been of fire, sorry to hear that. i decided that maybe we should make the girls pay an entry fee. something low but enough to let us know that they are serious ($20-$50). then with the money we can get t-shirts made for them or something… or just give it back. if we do get a chance to do the comp i’ll keep you posted on how we handled that situation.
