Listing not having to look “cute” as a plus point for female only gyms grinded my gears to begin with. This is just an opinion piece and I don’t see any evidence of research in her writing. I agree with the above comments regarding her use of the phrase “grinding on the pole”. C’mon, that’s such a cliché! If she’s not into trying pole dance that’s totally cool, different strokes for different folks. But why write an article suggesting there’s any kind of correlation between pole dance classes and rape culture?

I’m self taught, but not through choice. I’d love to get to a class at least once in a while, I imagine it would be hugely beneficial! I’m always concerened I’m not using proper technique and I don’t have anyone around to correct me.

Please don’t feel discouraged. In the past I have been much slimmer than I am right now, but I’ve never felt more proud of my body because I’m so much stronger than I’ve ever been. I have poling to thank for that! It sounds like you have a lot of passion for this, stick with it 🙂

My pole room is multifunctional as even with three bedrooms we are lacking space! It’s actually my kids’ play room which is nice; we get to put on music and dance and act silly! They also like to place small obstacles such as building bricks round the base of the pole for me to avoid when I’m coming out of an invert. Due to this I have become super nimble.
I have carpet too and mainly dance bare foot, but it’s useful to slip heels on for floorwork.

Every time I invert I get sweaty hands! They’re totally fine the rest of the time and I have good strength in my arms and hands. They just get so slippy when I’m upside down :/ Going to try a grip aid and see if it improves.

Well you look lovely, I can tell you now I didn’t have a nice neat little bump like yours! I have lots of work to do getting back into shape. I can’t say b/fing has had a huge impact on working out for me, except that maybe I can’t go QUITE as high impact as I’d like because I don’t have the energy!

I'm also breastfeeding my 5 month old 🙂 I can't really help with regards to poling as I'm brand new to it (I only started 2 months ago), but I do suffer aches in my shoulders from hunching over while nursing and definitely feel it more after I've been dancing.
