According to Veena’s lessons I’m advanced. Just don’t have my handsprings/cartwheels yet. Even if I can’t do suggested combos, I can work up to them/modify them. I just love ideas!!

One of my favorite choreographers, for example, is Anne Murray. I LOVE her “Drop it Low” vid!!!

LOVE my Pleasers. They are only a year or so old but they're scuffed, filthy, and just as sexy as ever. There were a few months there where I would pole every(other)day and I wore these shoes as warm up/cool down dance shoes. They are suuuper comfy. I'm more comfortable in these heels than I am in my everyday street heels. If only it weren;t taboo to go to the store in my 7 inch heels!! lol I'm thinking it's definitely time for another pair or two.

Poler-you are going to be there, right? Are there going to be a lot of people in the workshop? Since it’s less than a month away I’m not sure how intense my training will be but I at least need to work on my splits because I read we will be doing split work…

Scarlett- I'm in the same boat. I have an advanced workshop in less than a month with Jamilla and I'm wondering the same things. Though I have my handgrip Ayshas, I'm more worried about the flexibility (I have an okay left split after a LONG warm up…) So I just assume get in a well rounded bunch of practices and you'll be fine. And I almost forgot who I was talking to…you dance at a pro level Scarlett. You have nothing to worry about. And as Emotion said, if by chance you don't nail a thing or two, they have alternatives! Just have fun. I've heard she is a sweatheart so don't fret!! You'll have a blast! 😉

Scarlett- I agree with almost everything you said!!

Anastasia often starts on the pole and I love that! She is soo dreamy 🙂

Oona always amazes me! But this performance, I felt, was lacking in…Oona. Maybe she is trying to broaden her style…even my boyfriend said of all the performances of Oona’s he has seen, this was by far the most tame.

Natasha’s performance had me from the very start. It was themed and beautifully executed. It totally reminded me of a cirque show. I truly felt she deserved the win…

Steven is UNBELIEVEABLE. I loved how he plucked the pole like an instrument. I had to rewind a few sins and especially the last invert like 3 times. Unreal.

But Saulo. Saulo freakin Salmiento is aaaaamaaaazing. His “crazy” routine was just so fitting. I was so enthralled. He was spectacular.

Rafeala’s performance also captivated me. I LOVE her style! She’s so alive and so precise.

Lauren looked as though she was dancing underwater (the light blue lights helped!) Her costume was so flowy and lender itself effortlessly to her performance. Really enjoyed her performance as well.

The group performance confused me as well. It was a little…much for me. Don’t get me wrong. I love artsy, interpretive dance just as much as the next person, but I felt it was a bit out of place for such a prestigious event…

Pink Puma- I enjoyed it as well but definitely saw some jerkiness. I do like her style. I think the reason most people dance to classical music at Pole Art is because it is considered to be the most prestigious pole event. Now that doesn’t mean it’s always the best, but I think they expect more “classy” performances, if you know what I mean.

Did you enjoy Phoenix Kazree’s performance? I really enjoyed it. She has a ballet style that I’m drawn to. Not to mention she is just downright stunning!!

Jenyne’s guest performance was GORGEOUS! God I love that woman. She is a pole goddess! I can’t remember we I’ve missed…

Anyway- a brilliant display of the art of pole. Thoroughly enjoyed it, even the performances that didn’t adhere to my particular style of choice. Love the expression of each individual that performed!

I did almost all my shopping right there in Mandalay and Luxor. LOVE that place. Try to see a Cirque show while you are there. Also, Veena lives in Vegas now…she will probably have more ideas!!

In Mandalay Bay/Luxor there are a few places that my boyfriend and I went to. I think one of them was Fredericks of Hollywood, and there were TONS of boutiques that were loaded with super sexy wear. I bought this teeny tiny sexy skirt and a few goodies for the bedroom 😉 If you just walk around the shops in those two places you'll find all sorts of goodies. It's sin city afterall 😉

This is amazing!!!!! Thanks for this…I HAVE to show this to my boyfriend. He is usually the first person to tell people I'm a pole dancer. "She does it for fitness…mostly" ; )

Hey Silvia! Ya know, I thought my first xpole was “too slippery” too but I soon found out it was just me! I wasn’t warming myself or the pole up long enough. Lots of spins and whatnot. Try that before you give up on xpole. They truly are the best! (in my opinion) What does you average warmup consist of?

    Hi there https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I have been poling for over a year now having only taken Veena's lessons. According to those lessons I am advanced and am now working on form and fluidity. When I first started out I was super anxious to invert and get into the "good stuff". But having read many threads here on SV regarding injuries from inverting too fast, not warming up/stretching properly and cooling down I took their advice and stuck to V's stregthening/conditioning lessons and did the lessons in order (as she as brilliantly put them in order so there is no confusion on what you should or should not be woring on!) When the time came for inversions, I had my boyfriend watch the lessons (and other vids) so he would know how and where to spot me. After only a few practices, I learned proper mechanics and felt comfortable without a spotter. It's important to remember everyBODY is different. Some things will come fairly easily, while others find it tough. Some things you might struggle with even though some people nail it first time, every time. Point is: listen to your body. Take Veena's lessons. If you find that you need personal instruction, go on chat every friday and someone will certainly help you through it. A lot of us gals are on Skype, too and would be more than happy to work with you. But, I do agree with Charley. Finding a studio may be beneficial at  some point. I personally have not found one within an hour of me that I care for. But I'm getting to the point where I would like to be in a studio setting to smooth my rough edges and meet more like-minded gals, so I may need to travel a couple times a week to make that happen. Hope you find what works for you! Give V's lessons a go!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

I say go for it. I used to have a whole head of them (they were a bit bigger and not as uniform) but when I became a professional LMT I had to cut them out (as most hospitals/clincs weren't too keen on them) Are these the permanent dreads? Or the twisties similar to Angelina Jolie's in Gone in 60 seconds? My permanent ones HAD to be cut out and it took a long time for my hair to grow back. I LOVE the look of them though. I think they can be very sexy. I wish I could put mine back in https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Welcome, welcome!! I, too, love Anastasia Skukhtorova!! When I started over a year ago it was because of this video of Jenyne Butterfly: https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/4db0d3b5-e910-4a1e-9dad-23e50ac37250

I’m always excited for people when they start their pole journey!! This is the best place to start 🙂

I agree with Saphyre. chiro coupled with deep tissue are very effective. Also, in regards to foam rolling, you can use a tennis ball (or something similar) and use that in place of a foam roller. It is more accurate when trying to pinpoint piriformis.
