I also want to add that the ankle grips helped me greatly when starting out. Now I have developed enough strength that I dont need them anymore. So, to answer your question, at least in my experience, the ankle grips were very useful.

I agree with the others who commented. Not being able to grip the pole is because you’re new. I have skinny legs and found it very hard to grip.

Isn’t it fair to say, though, that someone can have no hangups about nudity but doesn’t necessarily want to see a stranger’s crotch spread-eagle in front of her face?

She might be ok with it, but that doesn’t mean that others are obligated to watch.

@zoilife6233 I get what you’re saying. It’s hard to say without having been there witnessing it myself whether this woman stripped down because she was “celebrating her body” or if she felt like she had to perform in such a revealing way because she has been conditioned to think that is what men like.
You have every right to your mixed feelings, but don’t let it affect the way you think of yourself doing the same moves.
As far as what is sexy, I also go for the less-is-more route, but to each his or her own.

MemberFebruary 1, 2015 at 1:40 pm in reply to: Really small hands- Buy a 40mm as a second pole???To me, it looks like your grip is fine. If you are new, what is probably happening is that you haven’t developed enough strength in your arms and abs to support yourself on the pole, so you’re relying on the strength of your grip. Maybe I’m wrong, but this is what I THINK might be happening.

I wish I could practice at home but I just can’t because my ceiling is too low. I was thinking of buying an x-stage and do it outside, but I’d only be able to use it half the year since half the year it’s way too cold. Anyone have a pole up in the garage? Again, I’d only be able to do that half the year because it would be too cold, but I’ve thought about it.

I agree with you about the terminology and how it should be separate, at least the “stripper” part–not that theres anything wrong with it if that’s what someone chooses to do.
