Serzi, you wrote “especially when it comes to pole.” Thats why people assumed you were talking about a pole studio.

People always say to cut out the toxic people in your life. But it is not always so simple. Sometimes there are circumstances which make it impossible to cut ties with certain people. What then?

NewWomanNow, I dont think age should put a damper on your ability or potential. At 46 you’re the oldest you’ve ever been but the youngest you’ll ever be. In ten years you’ll be 56 so if you dont start now when you’re 56 you’ll look back and say “If only I started when I was only 46.”

Usually, unless one is writing a book, it’s best to narrow down the topic of a thesis, otherwise it gets out of control. It might be useful to touch on the history of pole sports such as Chinese pole in order to bring context to certain points, but to go full-on into it might not be in the best interest of the thesis.
Another thing I wanted to mention though, as someone else pointed out, perhaps a more comprehensive survey might question non-poling people what they think, as well as showing them pictures of a woman dancing with heels, without heels, perhaps show a video where a performance is gymnastics-based vs one that is meant to titillate. For example, when the survey asks what my friends’ and coworkers’ reactions would to my pole dancing or stripping I can only guess what they might be. So whatever I say is my assumption and might not be accurate at all, thus skewing the veracity of the survey results.

I didn’t have any problem with the survey. I actually felt there were more positive statements than negative ones, actually. The whole point of the survey was to find out perceptions, so of course there were going to be questions about negative perceptions.

What stands out to me from what you wrote, quancutie23, is not so much that he is trying weed, but that he acts like he doesn’t care about life. I know plenty of people who use weed regularly, but who have never gone on to try anything stronger. However, I would be more concerned about his change in behavior, and what seems like depression. I feel like depression may be the driving force behind his current use of marijuana, and might be the catalyst for potentially trying harder drugs in the future, not necessarily the weed itself. Does that make sense?

@garynnn I have the same problem with getting my hips up in the inverted V. I can get my hips up in the regular invert only after hooking my foot. I feel like with the inverted V it’s just a strength issue. I dont know.
What I find more difficult, though, is feeling secure once I’m up there. I dont feel like there is any grip in my legs and can’t let go of my hands. I guess it will come with time.

Runemist, I agree with you that medication may not fix the underlying problem (for everyone). However, I can tell you from personal experience that after being on medication a long time, going off it because I was feeling better and being off it for an extended time, the depression always comes back at some point and that results in having to start taking medication again.
I want to stress that medication isn’t going to make everything great and make one happy and carefree. However, it might make the difference between staying on the couch and getting off the couch. And sometimes just getting off the couch can make a world of a difference.

I hit save before I was done writing.
Anyway, please try medication. You might have to try a few different ones and give them a chance to work before you see a change. I know that a lot of people don’t want to go the medication route, but please, please try it. Finding the right medication (along with maintaining physical activity, whether pole, or anything else, and therapy) can work wonders.
Needing medication to help you through the day does not mean you’re a freak and does not mean you’re a failure. It is sad that in 2015 people still think this. If you needed medication for a heart condition, would they think the same thing? Probably not. Why should an illness having to do with your brain be any different?
The bottom line is, getting help for yourself and doing what you need to do to take care of yourself is no one’s business but your own.

It is true that everyone reaches a point when they are depressed about circumstances in life, but this is very different than being diagnosed with depression as a mental illness. Depression, as a mental illness, doesn’t need a “reason.” It is a physical illness, just like a heart problem is a physical illness. It is a shame that there is still a stigma around this very real and debilitating condition.
I think that different approaches work for different people for easing the pain. Exercise, medication, therapy, one or more or a combination of the three help greatly. Also, accepting that you have this condition and that your suffering is an actual illness, helps too.

From personal experience, being on both sides of the situation, I think whatever awkwardness one feels is on the part of yourself and not because of any negative vibes coming from the other people. I think that, for the most part, when a group of people of different ages share a common experience, for example, working together doing the same job, the differences kind of become less noticeable.

I read in another thread about short ceilings that I would use the A pole and a 750 mm extension in place of the B pole? Does that make sense?
