I am skinny and have a ton of difficulty with thigh grips, too. Climbing is also painful because I’m basically gripping the pole with my bones. Ouch!

I can relate to this, but not entirely in the same way. I am not ashamed of my body, and I feel pretty comfortable in a bathing suit or wearing skimpy clothes to pole class. However, I do not feel comfortable at all moving my body in a sexy way. I always felt weird and uncoordinated when it comes to dancing suggestively.

Well, I wanted to update everyone that I finally found a pair of shorts that are comfortable (yay)! I was going to buy the Bad Kitty Go Go Polefit shorts, but not being able to try them on and then return them if they didn’t fit, was a big negative for me, since sometimes I am between sizes.
I ended up going with Underarmour Authentic Shorty:

They have a 2.5 inch inseam, a wide, rectangular gusset, and NO FRONTSEAM! They are of compression material, so they really fit snugly and don’t ride up. I am very happy I found these. They are sold out on the website, but I found them at my local Sports Authority.

Thanks, Phonenix Hunter! I am looking at the Bad Kitty website right now and I’m liking the foldover shorts and the Go Go Polefit shorts. Good point about the leotard. I didn’t think of that.

Also, I wanted to add that I’ve looked at sites that sell professional dancewear and gymnastics-wear, and thought that maybe wearing a leotard with cheer shorts over it would be an option? This wouldn’t be that attractive but maybe it would work?
