It is hard. I work part time outside the home at a big box store. I own a horse boarding stable which requires tending everyday. I have two kids 8 and 6. Husband. and started selling Arbonne (natural 100% vegan skin care and make up) and am trying to finish my certification for teaching pole dancing. I would be much farther then where I am if I could squeeze in more time to pole. Couple that with until recently NO local studio near me and the one  that is here now just offers beginner classes and is 45 minutes each way for an hour class….

I changed postitions at work a few weeks ago so I'm very hopeful to get in more pole time since I will have a more set schedule. The cold temps in my house will fight me a bit, but working on trying to fix that too.

I agree Charley. just because it isn't what floats our boat doesn't mean we should sink their boat.

this was brought home to me in Jamaica by one of the other dancers. Her style is so not what I like. But after having spent the week in her company it was so HER style and fitted her personality so well I had to admire it.

different things work better or worse for different people as veena pointed out. and depending on room warmth,  pole finish ect.

some products to try (some you will have in the house)

I love itac. but I like to dot it on the pole not on myself (karol helms saved my butt literally in jamaica by letting me borrow hers for the showcase)

    gel shave cream

corn huskers lotion (good for people with dry skin not sweaty!)

these work well for me, however I will say I have the driest skin on earth. if you are a sweaty person might not work well for you at all.

lol you and I are going to have to learn to proof read before submitting now Chem. I do the same thing at times write it post it and go…what the heck did I type??? I blame it on the kids sometimes part of their homework ends up in my posts because my fingers type what I'm telling them, not what I meant to type.

nope, mine supports me 110%. We went to jamaica together to Dance Wicked in 2010 and will be going again in 2011. He watches the kids so I can go to Chicago and spend time with Empy, and Detroit for workshops. He never questions why I just have to have so and so's new video/s like Leigh Anns ones that came out on the 27th (woohoo to b'day money from my MIL for those). He actually wishes i had more time to spend actually poling. I work nights he works day and we have horses and kids to care for so finding poling time is hard. I just changed positions at work so I'm hoping since I now have a semi-set schedule that I will be able to fit in more time for poling at home.

Above all he is my biggest fan and I never feel like I'm dancing as well as I do when I'm dancing for him 😉

I'm wanting to try that lotion too. I have the dryiest skin on earth specially in the winter and have a hard time finding something that works well, isn't slick on the pole AND isn't full of chemcials and petrolium. I use 100% pure aloe which doesn't make me too slick to pole but also doesn't work for mosture for long 🙁

we aren’t 100% clean either (very hard to do with kids) but we do try to stick as much as we can with the clean eating principles as much as we can.

And we are going to get even hardercore about it after the 1st of the year because thanks to my new job, two bouts of being sick and watching what I eat and doing the jillian shred workout I’m under 140 for the first time in several years https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif and want to keep it that way and keep toning.

I’ve got huge plans for this year and being fit is a big part of them!!!!

I think I just found where they are doing this in Louisville at the end of Feb. While I would love to come to Chicago again I’d rather not risk the bad driving weather possibilites that might be an issue in the first part of Feb. to make the drive up there. Bummer because I would love to do a pole Jam https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

I’m not trying to speak for them but I know at performances I have seen done by Karol Helms, Michelle Minx and others they try to find place to so some stretches and warm up before the performance. And yes grip aids because as amy said better to stick a bit too much then not enough!
