Actually, this DVD JUST came out and I ordered it – still waiting for it to come in the mail. I will post again here when I can give you a review. If you don’t want to wait and think it will be a great instructional DVD like me, I ordered it from here and I saved $5.- http://www.expressthesensual.com/2009/07/07/slink-slide-melt-with-the-mistress-of-authentic-exotic-dance/

You may be a pole dancer if you not only live, breathe and sleep pole dancing, but you have dreams about your poler friends doing kick ass tricks that neither you and they can do yet in real life! Inspiring and encouraging eachother through our dreams!

(My poler friend had a dream that I could do the crucifix when we were just beginners!) I thought it was awesome!

As you can see, you are not alone in this situation. I just recently got comfortable practicing with him around. I’m fine as long as he’s doing something else like making dinner or watching tv. As long as he’s not staring at me I feel fine. I have to say what I really enjoy is him helping me and spotting me when I am learning new moves. He really enjoys watching me try to hang off the pole and I feel much safer that I’m not going to fall and injure myself.

I thought you looked great. One of my pole friends had Elona as an instructor at Ferndale and liked her. Good for her to open her own studio. Actually, my husband sent me the link this morning. Elona said she doesn’t have any plans to close (she just opened!) so the story will blow over and the critizism and people will realize they have no control.

My friend bought the DVDS from flirty girl fitness. They are more of a warm up/workout than pole dance instructions. The beginner is the most basic you can get. It includes ONE spin.

has anyone herd of flirty girl dvds? I was thinking about getting the chair dance one:?: so was just curious if anyone knew of them and if they where any good??

Try http://www.wikipole.org/, click on pole dancing schools, then North America, then Pennsylvania. There are three schools listed; hope this helps.

I’ve seen this episode before but I watched the re-run Friday. I was hollering, "Hey look at him! He is awesome! I love Kevin James. He’s on a lil mynx! The same type of pole I have!!"

Its funny the things I get excited about.

I had a friend try out a flirty girl fitness pole against my recommendation. It is aluminum and it is adjustable at the bottom of the pole instead of the top. I tried one beginner spin and I moved the whole pole around in a circle while it made a scary noise. I told her I wasn’t doing anything else on it much less invert. After she noticed how crappy it was, she returned it within the 30 day trial period. That made me happy! Saving up for a good pole is better than hurting youself on a crappy pole – and for the same amount of money! (flirty girl fitness pole and lil mynx colored are the same price).

I’ve been poling for months now and I only have a few inverted moves down. Please use a spotter when trying an invert for the first time. Sometimes you may know what you want to do when you get up there but then the blood rushes to your head, you get nervous, you can’t think . . . It may not happen but its better to be safe. Poling is a very physical sport so as much fun as it is, doing things the right way should be taken into consideration too.

    Bertsybooboo,

I’ve met you a few times now and didn’t notice your scars. I have scars myself too, although I don’t think it makes me more inclined to notice others’ scars. I think it makes me realize they aren’t a big deal. One of my favorite lines in fight club, "I don’t wanna die without any scars."

Awesome that you are going to be a pole dance instructor!!! Congrats!!!

Yes. After I posted it, I realized that it was the wrong move too! But I am doing the corkscrew really well. In order for me to do it, I have to walk, then hold the pole with both hands while I pull my chest up and then I use momentum to push my legs first around the pole. I’m not a great teacher, but this is my best effort.

I don’t know very many intermediate moves, but I am happy to say, I can now do the corkscrew with the help of this video:

April 14, 2009 at 12:31 pm in reply to: How different finishes grip?

I was reading some threads that compare titanium gold to chrome and stainless steel, but I was wondering how do these finishes compare to brass? I took some pole dancing classes, and I believe the poles they had there were steel. I found spinning on them to be easy enough, but climbing/sitting really difficult – I kept sliding right off on most tries! The pole I have at home now is brass . My hand really sticks to this pole rather painfully when I spin around it a few times – I’m getting a blister even.

So I guess the basic question is, of titanium gold and chrome, are either of these right between the way stainless steel and brass grip?

I was the opposite with your situation. I had brass poles and one chrome pole at the studio I took classes (all permanent) and now I have a lil mynx stainless steel at home. I knew that I hated the brass because my hands would actually hurt when doing spins. I was in a beginner class so thats all I was really doing. I loved the "silver" which I thought was stainless steel, but I learned that its not when I bought my stainless steel pole. I think it would be nice to have a happy medium like Veena said, but having an x-pole is not practical for me because I need to take it down in seconds if certain people suddenly stop by.

I’ve never actually used tight grip for my hands. I like using the men’s shaving gel because it can help my legs to grip when trying a new inverted move.

When I said break down the stainless steel, I should’ve used the word condition.

I am quoting someone from the S factor message boards, "The downside is that if you buy the stainless steel, you have to condition the pole for use…. usually it won’t grip like the poles in the studio until you practice on it for a while."

This person said that she loves the surface of the x-pole. No pre-conditioning required.

She also said that these things seemed to work well for her:
1)hairspray the pole and hairspray your palms
    2) a dime size dollop of men’s shaving gel

I already bought a lil mynx when I did more research. My studio I took classes at recommended the lil mynx. I’ve used the dollop size of men’s shaving gel and it helps when I am trying a new inverted move. I am actually very happy with the lil mynx because I have to take it down often before visitors arrive and I just throw it on the bed till they leave.

I have a lil mynx also and it is a great pole. I love that it is once 8 foot piece. The downside is that my stainless steel is real slick and it has to be broken into which can take a while.
