I can only hold it when I grab my top leg with my free hand and pull it in, even so my hands start to slip… but for some reason I have a heavy butt, no matter how high up above my head it still pulls me down. >(

Ah I think I’ve figured out the rolling out of the hips, the pole placement needs to be along thighs I think? I had it tucked under the boob (not intentionally though!)

@lolaslaytor, thats a great video thanks! My issue is I cant stop my hips from falling out of it i.e. cant hold it in place. Reminds me when I was learning the chopper, or straddle my hips kept falling back down – is it something like that that will develop with more practice?

Lina, they usually stay for a few days to a week but it is usually after I do moves that are upside down and a lot of pressure goes to the head! Perhaps its our breathing technique? I notice i do hold my breath alot when Im concentrating.

Hi Robyn! Thanks for the tips, its good to know its possible even for us with short arms! I had a quick try but the most i can get my hip on to is the corner of my elbow which slips off eventually 🙁 big failllll

Hello Firebird,
Sorry I just saw your message! Thanks for bringing my attention to the ape index, I did my measurements and it came to 0.444, which means I have shorter arms than my body i.e. not in proportion. You can be tiiinyy but as long as you are in proportion it shouldn’t be a problem executing this kind of moves!
I still haven’t managed to achieve it, even with the tuition from a world class instructor – so I too understand the techniques of getting into this very well. I’m really convinced it’s because my arm is too short to create enough of a shelf!
I will look at filming this and trying it again as I have temporarily given up on it to work on other stuff! xxx

Just wondering if arm length has any bearing to whether you can achieve this move or not? I cant seem to find my elbow even trying to enter from CAR or brass monkey, ensuring there is a shelf, on a 40mm pole, with tuition, with various pole vid tutorials etc etc just cant seem to get it. My back is very bendy too (I can chest stand) but when I measured the length from my shoulder to elbow against other girls mine is shorter by 1-2 inches. Im getting convinced that its the length of my arm that is preventing me from achieving this trick!

Hi shelbsy33, Yeah I get the feeling it could be when I was training the air TG lift, iron x and chinese flag sequence that caused the damage. It’s taken longer than when I hurt my back to heal and it’s still causing me pain, certain movements such as pulling my top off over my head and sleeping on my side (bad arm facing ceiling) hurts.
Sadly I think I will have to give up the twisty for a few months too but it gives me motivation to work on my other grips. 🙁

The whole point for me is getting into a move where you can have one arm free to put at the bottom of the pole whilst keeping your bum and legs in the air without the need to hook a leg and pushing out into a handspring. I suppose you would end up into a reverse ayesha but can still straighten out into a handspring.
There are other transition points but that is how I would do it…

I agree with Robyn- if you think about the one handed meathook but with legs straddled either side of the pole it should free up one hand to manoever into a handspring.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us @Dirty Girl POLEtice
I've got a flabby tummy so was wondering if it's possible just relying on the arms and thigh to grip and found a vid by this lady – she does a very nice no hands cradle without belly grip (it appears that her top is covering her belly): https://www.studioveena.com/videos/view/4f7bd802-add8-40fe-86f6-0aad0ac37250
I might give that a try. Either way we will cover it in class next few weeks so I guess I can't avoid it… :/

@Chemgoddess1, the tips in the vid are helpful – I didn't know the forearm had a role in the move. It will be my weaker arm at the bottom so I'm not sure if it's going to be harder or I can try to cradle the opposite side with strong arm at the bottom.
I prob will give the static version as opposed to a spin – the other reason is I always feel like voming after one trick on spinny so I never use spinny. lol!

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your replies and for the thread @Chemgoddess1
I'm not sure as its something that is taught in my current place where poles are static and I was wondering if its actually possible to be sideways on the pole…
I'll look for a picture when I am back home after work.
I read in the thread about the internal tearing, not sure if I even want to learn the move!
