Check out my http://www.youtube.com/minicoopergrl You can see a big progression from me. You can see where I was my smallest, and then watch me start over again. I had a baby in Feb 09 and gained 80lbs so you can see me go from fluffy to slimming.

What are some tips, and realisms do you have?
Best advice is love yourself no matter what size you are. To me beauty is so much more than a size on my jeans, its in the eye of the beholder. Sometimes giving into temptation is ok, just dont live by it. I will have to say being in-between sizes isnt fun at all, im currently in one and it just sucks!

What have been some of the difficulties with pole you’ve experienced because of your size?
There are a few – one is the negitivity from the outside world. Youve got to have a tough skin to post on YT. I still get nasty comments about my size. One guy in my MINI Coopers forum bad mouthed me on a different forum about me being a ‘big girl on the stripper pole’. I just delete them and go on about my day, why waste my time with someone who wants to bring me down. You cant bring LULU down!!!

As for poling itself – sometimes I cant get a move down b/c im a bit bigger all around. I still cant do a split/underhand grip or a flag pole, I still blame it on my boobs! But I just dont give up, I will keep trying until my body says ‘alright you win, we can do this’. I always say we all have our hinderances, its how you work around them is what counts.

If you ever want to PM me, feel free!

Starting a little late. But my goals are.

Drink 2 bottles of water so I don’t drink my calories
After walking home, stretch and use foam roller
    Reduce eating after dinner
    ab exercises 3x a week
    strenghth exercises 2x a week.
    take care of forearms
Reduce coffee intake, and switch out of half and half and sugar.

I’m just curious how you plan to take care of your forearms. Mine are achey as a result of trying to conquer the split grip, and any suggestions on helping them out would be awesome!

I also am not a fan of the split grip, I still cant get it. What I do to work on my forearms is I get some free weights (5lbs max for now), hold the weight palm facing up. Curl them with my wrist, this is best done on a bench – somewhere you can keep your arm flat. Then I curl with my palm facing down. Ive seen a difference in my forearms from it.

You will quickly affirm what you already know….curvy girls can rock the pole too! Look forward to seeing a video. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

You got that right! If you do go back and take class, leave all your inhibitions at the door girl. Go in there with no shame (thats my theme in life – have no shame).

There are plenty of cuvry polers who are just plain awesome and I always look forward to see what they are working on.

Welcome to SV! We are a loving poling family! Hope to see you posting!

Im probably the best person you want to talk to about it. I have a husband who isnt a big fan of me spending my free time at class. I also have no pole at home so when I do go pole its outside of the house. I have a schedule set up so we all know where im going to go and at what time. Maybe having a set schedule would help too.

As for advancing, yeah you may never want to compete but wanting to learn and master those moves is a great feeling. Its great do be driven but sometimes you just want to have fun! I totally understand about having fav instructors, I love all of mine but I have only a few favs that I get the most workout out of.

If your looking for something smart and cheeky to tell him, tell him this. Exercising produces endorphins. Endorphins make you happy and happy women dont kill thier husbands! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif Thank you Legally Blonde!

Ive been uping my water intake – typically 2l to 3-4l daily. Its hard on the weekends, I tend to get a bit lazy. I read all labels and avoid the HFCS route. I serve out my meals instead of eating family style. I make an extra portion so I can take it to work the next day.

as for the gym: I did 10min on the bike as a warm up. Worked on rotator cuffs, inner/outer thighs, wrists/grip, 12min of cardio and pushing it hard, push ups – both reg and reverse. Then I did abs. I do them on the ab bench but I lower it so I feel like im in the invert. I did obiliques w/weights – OMG its been 2 days and they are on fire still!

For Pole: I had a great practice last thursday, got lots of footage. Im getter much better about getting inverted. Just need to work on a particular move. Yesterday was just crappy, I almost cried in class b/c I just couldnt get anything. We were doing pinwheel spins but holding our back leg, my body just didnt want to do it. Then came the split grip/underhand grip. I cant do that to save my life! I understand its a push/pull but my body just doesnt want to do it. Plus I have 2 HUGE boobs in the way and my short stubby arms dont help either. Ok, done complaining now! I will get that grip!

Ive done spin on the xstage once at Pole Convention. I had alot of fun. The best advice I got from Amber Ray was to just do it. It only spins as fast as you control it.

Have you done spin before? I say if youve never really worked with it, id stay away from it from the comp. I would hate to see you do a move and not get it from not being used to spin mode.

I will say the stage will not tip! Im 250lbs and it held me with no problem. But that doesnt go w/o saying that it may sway if you put to much power behind it. I saw Bad Azz do it at PC and they ended up putting some weight at the bottom.

cobra pose rocks! I do it all the time when im warming up. I also do some bends back while standing and then do them forward to counteract the back bending. If im really warmed up, I will back bend.

Yes it will!!! Exercise produces those endorphins that make you feel good. Another good person to bring up as an example is Jessalynn Medairy. She will tell you she used to have serious anxiety and wouldnt want to leave the house, but with pole she came out of it. Shes a USPDF Pro too!

I know when I have crappy days, just dancing makes it feel better. It gets my mind off whatever is bugging me!

Im a former MK consultant. Ive done competition make up pretty much my whole life. You want much more on than you normally do for day time. I do lots of bold/dark eyes, false lashes, lots of mascara, bold lips. I always wear a foundation – either liquid or powder. I always dust w/powder when im done to set my look.

This morning, a thought came to me about the copying thing… I think the ethics of it vary by degree. If we are just dancing together, no one owns the moves or the combos. But doing routines gets into another matter. If you do the Allegra, that’s one thing. If you do a whole segment of Allegra’s routines, that’s a whole other thing.

    Stealing moves = ok
    Stealing choreography = not ok

    Mindy

I totally agree. We all learn the same moves at different points in our pole lives. Its when you take someone else’s routine. I knew girls in my dance class in HS who would use a routine from their personal dance class for the HS class.

If someone uses a move of mine, go for it!! Im honored that you like what I do and I have no problem you using it.
