very good responses (im taking mental notes here).

The enviorment in the room is hit or miss.  Sometimes its mega cold b/c its downstairs but its the laundry room so it can get hot in there from my mom doing laundry. I try to warm myself up before I really start getting to work, I might need to warm up some more to get the pole warm.

I do trust the x joint – its a pretty interesting piece but once you understand it, it makes perfect sense.  Its a wierd internal fear of the pole coming undone that I just need to get over.

The responsibilty is totally on me now, im alone in the room.  Nothing but me and the music.  I also think with the surface of the floor makes me worried about serverly hurting myself.  Buying a foam mat is on the list of things to buy in my pole room.

Charley, I havent given it a cleaning using any of those.  Ive been just cleaning with the windex. But the next time I go and practice I will give it a good cleaning.  Ill pack the acetone in my bag now!

when im not poling, I normally hit the gym.  Now since my membership at the gym is about to expire and I dont think im going back, I do a few things at home.

Push ups – best upper body exercise you can do w/o weights.  I do them against the ledge of my bathtub in the morning, on the wii fit, etc.  Pretty much wherever I can do them.  I do them tradiitional (or female style) and do the dips as well so I work both sides of my arms.  It has helped, ive seen my basic invert dramatically improve because of it.

Crunches are a polers best friend.  Alot of moves call for abs to be strong.  I do abs in every direction I can.

I stretch alot too.  I have a desk job during the day so I do alot of sitting.  I try to stretch out everything all day that I can.

Im glad you fixed it!  The X joint is one of the most genius things ive seen recently.  I just got mine as well (same size but I got chrome).

I agree, id call xpole and tell them about your dud x joint.  They have to best cust svc ive seen and will be more than happy to fix that for you.

do a point/flex exercise with them before you point them for pole.  We used to do that all the time in cheer and dance to warm up.  It will warm up those muscles and get them used to it.  Before you know it,  pointing will become totally natural!

I either make my own performance costumes or I order some basics from a dance store and go from there.

I order my dance stuff from Discount Dance Supply.  I just ordered a pair of foot undeez not even a week ago and they arrived yesterday!

You can also try Bad Kitty or Electric Boutique.  I just ordered some of Bad Kittys Pole Fit stuff, I cant wait until it arrives. Each shoe company has different sizing. I have a normal width but I just look for the style and go from there.  If its the clear plastic on the foot, then I order a size down.  Eventually it will stretch out.  The other stuff I order in my street shoe size.  Shoe companies will sometimes display the shoe conversion chart or try to make thier shoes so all you have to do is order your street shoe size.  Not like im a shoe freak or so….lol!

great idea Kim!  That may get you out of that mindset.

btw – I was using the wii fit last night in front of my husband and he understood I get creeped out with him watching. He played his gameboy while I worked out.

Just about everyone I contact with knows.  The only person that may be behind on it is my dad.  Hes not plugged in social networking so him stumbling across my YT is highly unlikely. I almost put the USPDF calendar in my office but I figured my boss would get a bit upset seeing it.  My office is semi public viewing.

My mom is always plugging me and telling them where to find me on YT.  She even told her Zumba instructor to check me out!  My bff talks about me and my crazy YT fans at work.  The funny thing is at my Bff's baby shower, one girl came up to me and said 'Your Lulu, arent you?"  Yep, im even spotted at baby showers!

The person who gets creeped out is my brother.  He views like everyone else – he thinks his big sister is a stripper.  But I think he changed his view a little when he came to help me out.  He helped me pick up the X Stages for my event and we were talking about Bad Azz being on The Doctors recently.  We had a whole discussion about pole dancers and how were not strippers but were crazy talented artists.

horsecrazy – as it gets closer people are gonna start looking for roomies!  Im going to travel via megabus, its cheaper than me driving and spending all the $ on gas eventhough I get awesome MPG's.

If anyone is in the Baltimore/DC area thats going by megabus let me know.  My husband is not a big fan of me traveling alone for many good reasons.

if you dont know the theme to a show, try going to thier website or Wikipedia – they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Make a weekly calendar. Have it done hour by hour, then fill it in with your priorities – work, school etc. Then fill in time for appts etc. That way you can see you do have time to pole.

You also may have to cut corners as well – meal planning, dvr tv shows, when you do your cleaning etc. I do my laundry during the week and its less time consuming than spending all afternoon working on it. I also try to multi task as much as possible as well.

thank you all so much for the reply ^_^ i am gonna look into it and see if its feasible for my budget….and i will say im glad it doesnt require going vegan cause ummm….yea i like me some red meat. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_lol.gif

i have the Eat Clean Recharged book if you want to borrow it.

    I made a clean cheesecake – YUM!!!

Eva – the big difference between organic vs. nonorganic is that you know your fruits/veggies arent sprayed with pestides and your meat isnt pumped up full of fillers.

I do believe the thought process Tosca talks about when it comes to meat. She talks about only eating meat from animals who were free ranged vs. slaughter housed.

Im not a hard core clean eater but I follow alot of the principles – lots of water, fruits and vegges, almond milk etc. I want to get better and introduce my family into the clean eating as well.

I have S.S. P.S. Pole and it is super slippery!!! I have so much trouble working with it. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif
It is the only pole I have. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
At this time I am unable to use it due to damage it caused to the ceiling. My husband will not allow it to be put back up in the house. I am currently working on getting a stage. I have not decided on what type of stage to get.
I hear the X=stage Lite is out and this would work great for me, however I have never used chrome.
My hands are super sweaty as well so some are saying Brass is the way to go. The only company I know of that makes a Brass stage is P.S. Is that true?

Xpole is introducing brass next year, im just unsure when. As of right now PS is the only ones. I get sweaty hands too from time to time and ive used chrome and was a very happy gal. My pole im getting is chrome.

    I remember….
The first time I did a quick routine. Yeah it was basic but I was feeling it the entire time
the bet Jessalynn and I had when I could finally invert
when I first time I inverted and freaked out the other room
almost crying sometimes in class when I couldnt get the moves and watching everyone else nail the move
the first negitive comment I got on YT and laughed at it
the first time I was reconized from YT
when my boss found out I poled and I was a competitive poler! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cool.gif

When crap like that goes down – I basically say they can suck it! When I get nasty comments in that nature, I just say to myself they can suck it and delete the email.

Jayjay – I would waste NO TIME on that negitivity! The cream always rises to the top!

Ill give my stats (again Lulu has no shame). Im 5’4 260lbs (yep the wii reminded me Im a chubby chubby). All my strength before pole was in my legs. I have been playing sports since I was 8. Youd think I have sick looking body but b/c I love food way too much, im still a happy curvy gal!

You have to remember your hauling alot of weight inverted – its your body against the pole. Think about climbing trees and such as a kid. What really helped was upper body exercises, I was able to land more moves that way.

I LOVE stretching!! I will spend 30-40min stretching everything! I have a new obsession with my foam roller – OMG my husband has been fired from massage duty b/c of the roller.

a very wise PT! I try to do some elevated push ups against my bathtub in the morning while im waiting for the hot water to heat up.

I did an hour on the wii fit yesterday. It didnt feel like what I did at the gym but my obilques are killing me today! I do about everything on the wii fit – my favs are the hula hoop (roll your hips in a circle to keep the hoop moving) and soccer for balance ( you lift your foot whichever way the ball comes to hit it).

I may keep up for it for a week and see how I liked it. They also make lots of games for it as well. Im slowly getting out of the husband sitting in the same room as me while im working out is creepy feeling. He was on the computer when I was on the Wii.
