I have been to two of Michelle's workshops (and am signed up for another and a private) and I say without reservation to go if you can. She's very nice and gets around to help everyone in the workshop. I think that I've taken workshops from four pros and she's definitely my fav. I hope you can work it out! 🙂

Michelle Stanek was IN that episode!!

From my experience, which doesn’t make me correct, I’m sure, lol, it will need to be retaped periodically. Similar to a trapeze bar.

I was a total tomboy growing up and she's probably just happy to see me do something that has a feminine side to it, lol. She appreciates the strength and skill required to do it. My SIL is the same, but my MIL….she just keeps quiet about it, lol.

I've had mine for about seven years now and no one has ever said anything to me about them as far as employment goes, but at the same time, I guess employers might fear retribution from telling me that my hair is unacceptable. It's neat and it's clean and I've never had a mold or bacteria issue, (and here's another but) but, I've never had to use any product to get my hair to loc.
Anyway, rock out with your locs out as Wild Lotus said! 🙂

I love all of you guys so much!!! I can't even express how awesome it is to have this community to supplement my in-person pole community. 🙂
I'm going to be watching a lot of videos!
Also, @Malcious, your avi pic is gorgeous, i.e, you are gorgeous!!! 😀

For those of you who don’t know who DDP is, he was a wrestler in the WWE back in the day. 🙂

The video is truly inspiring. At the same time, I have to giggle because DDP takes me way back. 🙂

Everyone is so helpful with their tips. I appreciate it more than words can say. I’m going to try to put all of your tips into practice. I will try to do a video for comparison purposes.
This video is from an impromptu choreography class where my student is outdancing me by miles, lol. So when I say flow, I think I’d like to move a little more like she does and a little less like I do, lol.

I'm glad you had at least one smile today, corby! 🙂
I'm the same as you (because I don't count those mandatory couple of years my mom forced me to take ballet when I was about 8 – now I wish for those years and more, lol) with no dance background. I was the biggest tomboy ever!
Looks like from what I'm reading that it'll be time to get the video camera out more often. I dance around all of the time, when I'm cooking, cleaning, walking down the hall at work. It just hasn't translated to anything that looks nice. Yet! 🙂

Thanks, Veena! I pretty much only dance slowly while thinking about every body part. My freestyling has never really been strong (although I can throw choreography together – doesn’t make sense, right, lol) and I know my movements have improved since I started, but I’m kinda feeling like when I watch others, I can see their inner sex kitten. I have an inner sex elephant.
There’s the all too real possibility that this is in my head, as others might find my dancing pleasurable to watch. I just want to figure out how to join them. 🙂 -
Thanks, polergirl! I’ll read up on what you’ve provided. Open to all suggestions for sure. 🙂

I have an idea of how he got into that trick. I lean towards what chumpchkin said and a trick that I (kinda sorta…I did it once) trick that I learned from Michelle Stanek. Here's my attempt: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=3724091858825&set=t.100003662366868&type=3&theater He's doing the same side leg and shoulder though. So if I somehow magically extended my top leg (Michelle could, it was awesome) I think I would create enough tension to let go with the other hand.
Getting into it is a twisted grip top hand/cup grip bottom hand shoulder mount.

Your post made me stop and think about how long I've been natural. It's been a long time, lol. (over 10 years) I suppose that your hair's need for product would vary by person. For example, I wash my hair with Tre'semme. That's all I do. You might just have to do a little trial and error. One thing I did find that I liked, though, was from Knotty Boy. They have conditioning spray for locs. I just thought they smelled good. Good luck in your journey! 🙂

I'm sorry that I don't know the answer but I had to tell you that I snorted when I read this. First because you said stretching peens and then second because I imagined some dude actually doing it. Even my hubby laughed. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif

I’d like a couple 45s in your studio too, yogabeachbabe! 🙂

I too loved P90X. I found that it helped my pole strength quite a bit. Stick with it! I know you'll be pleased with the results. 🙂

Thanks, all! I"ll have to loosen the old girl up and see if she wants to spin. 🙂

I teach a mixed level class, but it is specified in our class description that, for this class, you bring moves that you've seen/heard of and want to work on and I'll assist with it. It isn't so much a structured class like our level classes are. After warmup, I make rounds around the room taking turns assisting students.
When in doubt, ask the studio! 🙂 Good luck!

TOTALLY ORDERED! Can't wait on so many levels! Finally, I'll be able to represent at my studio, lol. 🙂 Thanks!

FUN FUN FUN!! Love the song, love the routine, and love how much fun everyone is having! 🙂

I agree that it'll be different for everyone and I think that some of it has to do with how fit you were before surgery. When I had mine done in 2008 (holy crap, it's been 4 years already!), I had under the muscle silicone. I took pictures and video to my surgeon so he would know the activities I was engaged in. (I was also doing circus stuff at the time.) He told me 6 weeks. Longest six weeks of my life! And even still, I probably could've waited another 2 to be extra safe.
