The patent comes off really easily. Fill it in with black nail polish and no one notices. Especially if you’re dancing… because no one’s paying attention to tiny scuffs on your shoes.

This hurts me way more than TG handspring. If I do more than one, I feel it for a few days afterwards… I can't envision it being good for you!

And if you're desperate, there's definitely pole in Champaign. I know a really good instructor in Danville, but that's quite a drive.
Then there's this- but I'm pretty sure poledanceromance lives in the Chicago area now. Ask her?

Make a roadtrip in to StL this weekend! There's a huge 2 day showcase with workshops by Nadia Shariff and Sergia Anderson. http://www.michellemynxacademyofpoledance.com/

I'm so glad to be an 'insider' in the pole community.

Anytime I'm trying a new move or nervous about something, I wipe my hands on my butt, typically 3 times. It started out as a 'sweat removal' thing. Now it's just an OCDism.

Hey Chemmie- update your location. It makes me sad.

I forgot to mention, she doesn't like S Factor. No offense to S Factor people, she just doesn't think vibe there fits her personality/learning styles well. She's very trick heavy and is looking for somewhere with advanced moves.

I consider 9'3 pretty tall! My home pole is 9' and I thought it was decently tall!

We've been calling it 'the swoosh' because it reminded us of the nike swoosh.

I spent a few months working on a very short pole. I thought it was actually really helpful. It helped me 'tighten up' my transitions so I could stay on the pole longer without coming down. I also got much better at controlling my shoulder mounts and inverts, keeping everything very flat and direct because there wasn't much room to fix it if you make a mistake! It's also a great way to practice deathlays if you're afraid of heights! Yeah, having a short pole sucks for a lot of things but you can really think of it as a training experience!

Platinum stages does custom single piece standard poles up to 12ft (perm and removable). Special competition grade poles up to 20ft.

Xpole will be multipiece and you buy extensions.

This looks like a fun project to me.
If she can't return it, might as well try to get it together and use it for basic stuff, right? Honestly, I've been on a faux x-pole and it wasn't horrible. The screw to get static mode to stay static was stripped but otherwise it was ok. I didn't try anything that generated too much momentum either. It did feel just as stable as my old x-pole did…
So Skyler- what have you put together so far? Most of the pieces seem straight forward to me. There's really only one that's confusing me…

Agreed with Ekinkah on the split grip.
Basic invert, which arm (or both?) is having triceps pain inside arm or outside arm?
-
Chemmie- Any opinions on the new 4.0 PS SSA? I have yet to see any discussion on it yet.
-
(I just bought a brand new PS pole in June and it's still being unused because it's not correct and will not be replaced.)
-
I have been a loyal customer to PS for years and have referred MANY friends and students. I switched to lil' mynx a month ago because PS's customer service is so terrible. I still think their poles are my favorite to work on but I just can't support their business anymore.

I have my students practice headstands/tripods to learn their inverted core balance and how to regain balance if you start to lose it. Once you're comfy with that, ayesha feels so much better!

A lot of products on Amazon and Shoebuy will have free shipping for returns/exchanges for boots that don't fit. CapFeb is right; go a size up if you're in question! Boots won't stretch.

How does your doctor not know? Often night sweats can be a symptom of a sudden decrease in estrogen which is what happens during your period. Other hormonal factors (which can be related to such things as stress and diet habits) can also contribute – which may relate to who experiences this and when.
-
Tried both. I should clarify- I'm terrified of split grip ayesha on spin.
-
BTW- I'm not saying you have stubby arms and legs. I'm saying I do.
-
ThunderKat- I know exactly what you're talking about and I think it might just be our body type. :/ Long torso, short stubby legs and arms. No matter what I do, this move hurts and never looks good. I don't ever do it except when I'm teaching it and even then I give disclaimers that this move is not right for everyone. Some people it just seems to "fit". Other seem to have terrible pain and even rib fractures even if done in "the pocket"

I also have people practice a regular scorpio with a lower elbow hook to get used to getting into that position. When the elbow hook scorpio is easy, transition to ankle grab on the opposite side of the pole. *if that makes no sense, I can try to get vid on Thurs.
