After an extraction, the main risk in the first 7–10 days is dislodging the blood clot (dry socket), and anything involving inversions, spinning, or sudden pressure changes can increase that risk. Even if it “feels fine,” the tissue underneath is still healing.
Gentle walking and light stretching are usually safe, but anything where your head drops below your heart or you’re engaging your core heavily can delay healing or cause bleeding. A friend went back to aerial training too soon after an extraction and ended up with a painful dry socket that set recovery back another couple of weeks, definitely not worth it.
Clinics such as St Leonards Green Dental generally recommend easing back gradually after the first week, starting upright and low intensity before returning to full routines. If an implant is planned later, giving the area proper time to heal now will also improve outcomes.
A good middle ground might be conditioning work that keeps you upright and avoids strain, just to stay active without risking the site. If there’s still any soreness or swelling, that’s usually a sign to hold off a bit longer.
