Charley, quick question…you stated in your post that if you use dry hands without tite grip you fly off the pole after a few seconds. Does this mean you use them together? I have Dry Hands AND Tite Grip and alternate between using them separately. Are you the one who also said to apply tite grip an hour or so before poling?

I just ordered samples of ITac. I’m so curious as to how it works for my lil mynx and my sweaty hands.

I’m so curious as to how you like the itac. I go back and forth from Dry Hands and Tite Grip. Alhough, I’m going to try Tite Grip 1-2 hours before. Also, how is the itac for spins when practicing?

Everyone is so different in how we started, comfort level etc. I started with an intro 4 wk class. A friend was supposed to sign up, but didn’t, I went anyway and SO glad I did. It was uncomfortable at first, but it was for all who were there for the first time. I knew I was "hooked" immediately, even though still very uncomfortable. Others went with at least one friend, but I was so focused on the class it didn’t matter to me. FYI, within a couple of weeks we were all enjoying it and having fun. Plus our instructor was fun and positive. I was the only one in my little intro class of 12 who continued. Then the studio closed down after a few months. So I began the youtube thing and began to self-teach myself. However, upon coming across studioveena.com; OMG what a difference in support, encouragement, her online lessons, etc.

Again, we are all different. For me, I was glad that I at least began at a studio to learn some basics. Also, if I would have began veena’s lessons sooner, I think I would be further along. I like that there’s a path to follow that makes sense. Since I don’t have a studio nearby, I have attended one day classes and special workshops at studios 1-3 hours away. Of course, I don’t know anyone, but love pole and take any opportunity to imporove or learn something knew. So taking classes at a local studio allows time to get to know others.

So whatever you decide, make sure it’s right for you. The important thing is that you enjoy it and have fun, as well as safety. Again, if the studio has an intro class for all beginners or first-timers, consider trying that. Good luck and hope to see your first pole vid or picture soon https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_thumright.gif https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I’m exactly the same way. I’m curious as to what responses will be. I would get a static, though, not interested in spin mode at this point. Also don’t know about titanium gold vs chrome. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

I’m glad it’s fixed. I’m so scared to get an xpole. I hear/read so many issues others have had. Although, if I get one it won’t be spin/static, just static. But glad yours is okay!!!

Amber Richard Workshop: Awesome! It looked like there were different skill levels; however, I think everyone was able to learn something new or to improve. I don’t consider myself as far along as many, but I did come away with many things to practice and learn. One trick I even consider on the Int to Adv side and I can do it. She is so patient and encouraging, works with everyone at their level and makes sure everyone is included. I would encourage anyone who has the opportunity take a workshop with Amber to do so. You will be touched not only on a pole skill level, but on a personal level. Thank you, Amber!

Other workshops I’ve taken are from local instructors/studios. I also learned a thing or two from these that were fun and exciting to learn.

veena, you posted you like x-pole in chrome. Evidently you have an older version? Do you know anything about the new ones? I’ve read comments about various issues with those who have purchased one more recently. Thanks.

I feel the same way. I might do one but without typical booty shakes, etc. My hubby told me about a song that is fit for this, so might do pole practice, etc. with it playing. I hope no one beats me to it, haha I just want to have fun like many others do. I just keep telling myself; breathe, relax, have fun…easier said than done for me. So I encourage you and others to try like me to have fun. Now I just need to walk the talk, ugh!

Can anyone give site for more information on x-stage for my curiousity. I have been considering the xpole xpert; however, after reading some posts about it, not sure now. Also, any comments regarding brass and where should I look into for that? Thanks.

I watched practice clips with me doing this type of grip and I also did the wrap around fingers. Now I’m re-adjusting to the 1-2 fingers down. I’m not sure how it’s working yet, just worked on a few times. Will focus more in future practices. Seems like my fingers want to wrap around completely, probably because I started out that way learning on my own. I just read veena’s response and will now pay attention to how I’m doing it and form.

Yes, totally understand. Especially since I’ve been self-teaching myself, I felt stuck https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_scratch.gif . I started veena’s online lessons few weeks back and am excited about having some kind of plan. I’ve gotten the basic plank and working on advanced plank. I never would have known how to even begin learning these on my own. Also, back-tracking on building proper strength for current and future practices. Hang in there, our brains & body usually catch up with each other again https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif I’ve also experienced some days where I can’t accomplish a thing, then other days I feel like a pro, haha

What a creative idea. I’m also on the non-flexible side. Sometimes I just settle that I won’t be able to get near where I should be on stuff. On veena’s online lesson for side climb, it requires flexibility to get that leg up high on the pole to start and I’m no where able to do that https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif It would be fun and encouraging to meet with others regarding this and for motivation. I also don’t know how to start, measure, etc.

https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I was able to start veena’s online lessons and so glad I did! I’m still waiting to hear status of my job but my husband told me to get them. He pointed out I’ve been spending money for workshops/classes which are 1-3 hours away, so what’s the difference of paying for online lessons to work at my own pace, etc. My hubby is a gem!!

I love the way the lessons are set up to watch, listen to explanation, watch veena, then practice it. If I forget something, I just watch again till my brain grasps it. I like the strength exercises that lead up to spins, tricks, etc. They will also help me to imrove or clean up what I’ve learned on my own. These lessons will give me a map to progress without me having to decide what to try next and possibly make a wrong decision. There are some things I may not be able to get and that’s okay (I think of shoulder mount), there is plenty to learn and have fun with. I just love the exercise and fitness that comes from poling. THANKS VEENA!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_flower.gif

Good job, sometimes it’s just that one little (or scarey) thing to get that makes the difference. It’s neat when we get that "ah-ha" moment https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Have fun with it now!

Nice resurrected post! I’m 54, started poling around 1 1/2 yrs ago. I was active before with various activites, was into the gym thing for step aerobics and power-flex (weight class) When I discovered pole, I love it for the fitness and strengthening it involves. Although more difficult than anything I’ve ever done, it’s so fun and rewarding. I’ve had fun meeting everyone of all ages, but do a happy dance when I meet others in my age group, haha

…you no longer wear your wedding rings to not scratch your pole, since just walking by the pole could become a practice session.
…asking for crash mats for birthday gift.
…a 3 hr drive to visit your son includes a private lesson in the same area https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
…spending time with hubby includes driving to a lesson together, him sitting in the car while you have a lesson, then spend the rest of the day together.

Had to add another: You may be a pole dancer when you sheepishly https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif tell your 25 yr old son who shakes his head, BUT for Christmas gives you an Intermediate Moves to Learn DVD. (This was too fun!)
