You guys gave the perfect advice, after inverting and moving one arm down, sliding around with ‘straight’ hips it worked https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Even with left arm down which is the weaker one for me. So happy right now. Finally after months of trying the caterpillar way! -

I invert standing on the right hand side of the pole, and when I’m in caterpillar I have my right hand down and left one up. So did a standard invert over the weekend, but found that it made most sense to (as I invert on the RHS) to move left arm down – but it’s my weak one so couldn’t do it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif Is it possible to invert on the right, and still move your right arm down to go into butterly?
Will try again tonight.. there *must* be a way to nail this

But still determined to one day get it https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Tiny progress though, managed to (embarrassing) only twinkle my toes instead of letting go of foot / leg, so it’s going in snail pace…

Veena, I’m doing split grip butterfly with square hips… so in theory is *should* work. I’ll get the instructor to check that my leg’s in the right place .. will report in a few hours how it went! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_sunny.gif

Great thread https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
My bf just doesn’t get it, but then that might have something to do with me cursing, swearing and getting red-faced when tricks don’t work out or when I get bruises https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Once he realized it was all going to be about fitness and sort of gymnastics he quickly turned back to the PS3.

Try hairspray! When spraying a bit of hairspray on your hands I find it really improves grip (good for those special occasions when constantly sliding down is not really ideal!). Note – spray too much and you literally STICK to the pole https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Good point amyxshi https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif Lotion is a no-no, and indeed the shorter the shorts the better i.e. more grip!

Hey PolePhoenix – the pretzel, I’ll check it out https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
The pole’s now nice and still after that adventure… may give it another go tonight hehe(swapped my profile picture to one my BF took whilst spinning yesterday!)
It’s my first pic of me on the pole (a bit nervous, somehow felt weird asking him to take a pic!) not sure if video’s a good thing yet maybe with practice https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif -
Wow, you’re amazing! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif That was so snassy loved it!

Thanks Mindy4Pole, Sissy etc!
My pole instructor recommended me trying iguana (I’d never heard of bow and arrow, or tried headstand for that matter). So maybe it was a bit ambitious.
Again thank you so much for the comments – I’ll practice bow and arrow and will attempt head stand and take it from there! Sounds like that approach would make more sense.

Hiya
Was Tracey the girl with the mask and the Chinese pole style moves? She was absolutely incredible.
It was a really good night, but had to leave half way through https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif
Definitely inspiring, my pole instructor said she’ll enter next year.
