Apparently the smallest extension possible (100mm) doesnt even fit with the xpert, and the adjuster rod is strong enough to take that amount. I think I will by the second largest extension anyway because its annoying having a small gap where the rod is showing.

I think the reason that the pole slipped before is simply because i hadn’t tightened it properly. I took it all down and put it up again making sure i did everything correctly and its solid as a rock though.

EW. I don’t like it on so many levels. It just seems so….gross. Some of the pole tricks they showed were cool at least they weren’t just grinding the pole. It’s not the content of the song that bothers me. Obviously I dislike the term ‘porn star dancing’ being given to my chosen form of exercise, but I think the song itself is about being at a strip club right? Which is very different to being a porn star yes, (thats just because these guys are obviously fools) but it’s not overly aimed at poledancers in general.
I just hate the song itself. It’s so CHEESY. It’s like…oh hey guys how shall we make a song that will sell? I know, play some cheesy ‘rock’ guitar and have LOTS of girls grinding each other and we’ll call it something sexy…hmm…oh i know. Porn star dancing. Aren’t we clever. And then while the girls get all sexy the guys are looking on with cheesy leery grins and they all look so CLEAN. Real rock and roll was dirty and real and unforgiving and sexy.
Now I don’t know anything about ‘My darkest days’ but this just looks like a bunch of frat guys who have dressed up in vaguely punky outfits and ordered a bunch of strippers for their frat party.

I second what people are saying about pole being the only excersise they don’t get bored with.

I first saw pole dance in 2005.. I was at an alternative gothy sorta club, and there were pole dancers there. They werent stripping but wearing awesome little pvc outfits and killer heels and boots… they caught my eye immediately just because of how awesome and beautiful they looked…then suddenly one of them climbed up the pole and did a CAR!!! My mouth literally dropped open in shock…I just thought it was amazing..I had no idea how the hell they were just holding on with their thighs…I had no idea that pole dance required that much strength and talent. I basically spent the next couple of times I went there just gawping at the dancers in complete and utter awe. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cyclops_ani.gif

I think what made me fall in love with it so much was the obvious agility and strength of the dancers but also how fun and sexual it was as well.

And now I FINALLY am learning to pole (lol 5 years later) and I love it because, as Veena says you can express yourself through dance. If I’m feeling happy or sad or angry or sexy or…whatever, I can just get on my pole and spin about.

Hold a themed clubnight/party and make everyone pay a certain amount to get in? If you already have a pole, you could make it a pole theme…I’m sure the idea of pole dancing would probably draw lots of people in…and then once they were there, if you had someone performing beautiful pole tricks they would probably wanna join your society! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

Me and my friends did the same thing, we were organising a charity event at uni, and we needed to raise 2000, we found a space through the uni, and held an Alice in Wonderland mad hatter party…everyone had to dress up as disney characters. The capacity of the venue was 500..and we charged £5 to get in.

We avertised it LOADS, made flyers, told all our friends, and forced them to tell their friends, posted it on facebook and myspace loads, and just generally made it sound as cool as possible lol. We bought a bunch of CHEAP glowsticks on ebay, and made a bunch of cheap cupcakes and gave them out to people who came (obviously we didnt have enough to go round everyone) but we still avertised on our flyers "Amazing Alice in Wonderland disney rave…come early…free cupcakes and glowsticks!!" which just made it sound better. And people definitely appreciated it.
We also bought loadsa stupid stuff like cheap candy and balloons and tacky stuff like that and made little party bags to give to people at the end of the night.

Overall about 450 people came which was AMAZING and at £5 a head we made OVER 2000 in one night! Obviously there were some costs to cover so at the end of it all we had just under 2000, but not much under.
I think it’s definitely the best way to go about it, especially as you are at University, and it’s generally easy to get cheap/free venues to hold events at, especially if you’re doing it as some sort of fundraiser.

So yeah…get a venue, ask around everyone you know who is a DJ or in bands who would be willing to play for a couple of hours for free or for a MINIMAL fee, and just do a bunch of stuff on the cheap which will make the night sound awesome and promote it like mad. People will come, especially if its a relatively cheap price, and sounds amazing. Students are also pretty easy to please…I found that putting the words "RAVE! GLOWSTICKS! Mindy I’m really sorry about your mother, and also your mother in law. I think it’s definitely true…I know so many women (my mother included) who work themselves to the bone for everyone else in their lives…and its so important to be abkle to value yourself and your own health too.
Veena I love what you said about balance. Thats such an awesome way to see it, I always get stressed out that theres not enough time for me to do spend equal time everything I feel I need to do all the time…therefore this must mean im not a balanced person. Small adjustments…very cool. I am going to apply this to my life.

Aww thanks aud…yeah the blood pressure thing was funny, I just knew it was gonna be high though, throughout the whole appointment my heart was just BOOM BOOM BOOM so fast in my chest! Definitely do go and get checked out, I feel so much better now (though obviously nervous) but at least I feel I’m being pro-active. And yeah chlamydia is totally treatable and easy to deal with but if its left untreated it can lead to infertility and all kinds of horribleness :S And yeah make your bf come with, it would have been so nice to have someone there for support…(of course mine was in edinburgh so I couldnt drag him along this time but im definitely gonna make him get tested too.)

Glitter…I wish you so so so so much luck with your biopsy tomorrow…it must be so scary for you. I got the pap smear as well and those results come seperately so heres hoping theyll be okay as well. *fingers crossed* Thank you so much for inspiring me to get just an overall check up…its something I’ve been meaning to do for so long and its just kind of been building up and building up and the longer I left it the more scared I would get. The thing is…when famous people have to pole for a film or music video theyre always like "oh blah blah it was so challenging, I really felt the burn, I got so bruised" and so it gets me excited because I think there might ACTUALLY be some proper poling in the film but when I see it, all theyre actually doing is grinding and floor work. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif If I’m lucky I see about 1 seconds worth of a fireman spin and thats its.
