Ditto on the volleyball attire being tiny as well as the body building. I recently saw the men’s bodybuilding competitors when I was at the Arnold–that was one teeny weeny bikini with a whole lot off ass showing–far less clothing than any of the pole competitors were wearing.

I bought a GoPro for poling also and just end up using my phone. I don’t find the GoPro very intuitive, don’t like that there is no screen to see what you’re filming (although you can see it on your phone or ipad if linked) and the battery didn’t seem to last long. I’m sure if I applied myself it would work fine if not great but I just find the phone so much easier.

I wasn’t pole dancing when I got mine done but I definitely did not have any pain six month postop with any activities including weight lifting. In fact I only took pain meds for two days–just wasn’t painful for me.

I don’t recall how long before I was allowed to lift weights, etc. as my surgery was nearly 10 years ago. I would just ask your surgeon and follow those instructions exactly. Good luck.

Polewalker, please do post pictures of your new pole room. I have fantasies about buying a house where I can make an entire aerial studio with pole, silks, lyra and trapeze!

Love it! Made me smile. My favorite was the guy in the wheelchair.

That hoop gets around…so to speak.

Well I’m not 50 but I’m getting there–I’m 45 years old. The thread below will show you just how many of us there are, and there are a number of other threads along the same lines. You are certainly not alone. 🙂

I have days where I am just off and start to get pissed that I can’t accomplish the trick I had decided to work on. I have learned to go with the flow and pick something else, etc. Usually when this happens I don’t have the strength for whatever I’ve chosen to work on or the pole is so slick in my dry winter house that I can’t grip so now I choose to work on a dance move or floor work or something else. I’ve often found that I’ll either warm up enough to achieve something equally as interesting or will learn a cool floor move I didn’t know I could do. Be flexible in what you’re working on and things will tend to come at their own pace.

@Lily My ulnar nerve also subluxes. Cubital tunnel syndrome also relates to the ulnar nerve. Researching these two things might be helpful for you. My ulnar nerve problem is also totally unrelated to pole but rather to some work I do. I originally did some exercises I found that are supposed to help the ulnar nerve track properly. I did exercises from these two sites. They definitely reduced the numbness I was having but it remained tender.

I eventually went to see a hand surgeon thinking he would just give me a steroid injection or something and it would all be better. No go–no steroids. He specifically said not to let anyone do that to me. He told me I needed to stop the work I was doing (essentially typing) completely or radically alter my work station so that my arms were almost completely straight–not easy to do as I do transcription and am paid on production so speed is essential. The other option he gave me was wearing a brace at night–every night, all night, no exceptions and I was expected to do my best to keep my arm as straight as possible during the day. I tried the brace for a few days but the notion of wearing it all night, every night wasn’t going to happen. It was quite uncomfortable with the way I sleep.

Ultimately, I have decided to have surgery–in about a week and a half. I’m having ulnar nerve decompression.

I’m a nurse but I am in no way an expert on this topic nor do I particularly recommend any of the above as appropriate in your case, although I don’t think the exercises can hurt anything. None of them are extreme in any way so I don’t think they will cause you any harm. I always recommend you follow your physician’s advice but thought I would share my experience since I know for sure that my ulnar nerve subluxes also–I can feel it sort of flip across the elbow bone. Good luck.

@AllysonKendal Definitely go shopping. Smaller girls have trouble finding the right bra size too because most stores only carry down to 34 or perhaps a few 32s. If they do have 32s they usually only have a few A or B cups because they think anyone that small can’t possibly be any bigger than A or B. A high end department store should have some stuff for you to try and can fit you again to confirm your size. Once you know your size for sure hit the online stores. I’ve had breast augmentation surgery so I’m different now but like you I was very small chested and pretty much wearing whatever size 34 seemed to fit because that’s what you can find at Kohl’s and Target and the like. After having surgery I was properly measured and certainly should have been wearing a 32 something or other before surgery and was likely even a smaller band size in my teens and 20s.

VS bras notoriously run small as in a 34C at VS would be closer to 34B in another brand. Their sizes, as you all have said, are very limited. You can find some of the more unusual sizes in the high end stores like Nordstrom’s and Saks 5th Avenue and they will usually size you properly as well–as opposed to VS. Once you’ve been properly sized there are lots of online retailers and I’ve purchased bras off of ebay if it’s a brand where I’m 100% sure of my size.

@polargirl That was beautiful. I loved that one too. So cool. I wish more guys would pole–they don’t know what they’re missing and they’re strength is such an asset and gives them such a different perspective.

As the other ladies have said, I bought my first pair of Pleasers on Amazon to figure out what size I need (in case I needed to return them) and then since then I’ve bought three more on e-bay. Great deals on e-bay.
