Lucca, I already sent my congrats to you on IG but wanted to say it again. It looks like there are some really cool studios in Australia and I’m dying to go to Bondi Beach after seeing it on IG so much. I’m afraid we don’t have parks like that in Ohio. 🙁

I also wanted to say that Sky Sirens is the coolest effin name for a studio!!

I’m no expert but I see that she performs almost the same move in reverse at 3:45. If you can find a way to get into that position so you can practice the reverse (negative of the desired move) I’m told that helps you develop the strength for the move you want.

I’ve used it and I wouldn’t put it on my hands. It’s so grippy I would almost describe it as sticky.

I have several pairs of pleasers and my black patent pair is also loose at the part that goes across my toes while the clear pair I have that is the exact same size is quite tight. I’m not sure what the answer is. I bought mine from ebay so returning wasn’t an option. I can still wear the black ones but they don’t feel as secure.

I bought a Lil Mynx stainless steel when I started and now wish I had powder coated. I knew the stainless was generally considered more slippery but I thought it would just make me stronger. I imagine that it has but I also believe it limits me somewhat. I love the playgroud poles too. Some day I’ll probably get a powder coated.

The other thing I love about Lil Mynx is the ease of change from static to spin with the simple push of the button.

Correction: The FitBit commercial has someone doing Pull Fit (rather than Pole Fit) but he is at least doing a pull-up on a light pole or something.

I wanna see a bad-ass strong POLE Fit on the commercial, dang it.

I’ll vote for it too. And I want to see Pole Fit on their commercial that has all the different kinds of fit. I think one of them does have pole fit but I can’t remember what the person is doing but it’s not pole dancing.

@Runemist I bought a used FitBit on ebay for cheap. When I contacted the FitBit folks to make sure that I could register the device even when someone else had registered it before they said absolutely no problem. I wear a FitBit One because I don’t like to have anything on my wrist. It’s a tiny little thing and I clip it on my bra every day.

I”m 46 now and started poling a few years ago. I wish I had started pole when I was younger because I’ve lost so much of my flexibility but I suspect my brain would not have been in the right place to fully appreciate pole so this must be the right time for me. I am much more careful with my body now because any injuries I do get take MUCH longer to heal now so please do pole wisely.

I am encouraged to see folks older than me still poling because I really want to know that I’ll still be able to pole when I’m retired (hopefully in ten years or so) and finally have enough time for it.

CAR. I’ve had many people give me tips and apparently I just don’t get it. The notion of doing a CAR bridge is laughable for me.

I’m so sorry vicioush. After I read the book Missoula, I’m not sure I would go to court if it happened to me and I was a freaking SANE nurse. The way victims are treated is APPALLING and utterly shameful.

I’m glad some of you would like to give a dance to that song a go.

I know all about the people who say that speaking up about sexual assault is fear mongering. I do not wish to start a debate or argument but I have no patience with the agenda of those who think the accounts of sexual assault are made up or that the statistics are inflated. I suspect most statistic on sexual assault are low. People just don’t get it, don’t understand the devastation.

Carry on strong, creative, lovely ladies. And special love to all the bad-ass survivors.

This Lady Gaga song Till It Happens to You is about sexual assault and some of the proceeds go to help survivors. I’m lucky enough not to be a survivor but this topic is near and dear to my heart. I have worked as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner and done some teaching on sexual assault, and I regularly attend and assist with women’s self defense classes in hopes of preventing sexual assault.

I’m not a super dancer nor terribly creative but I would love to see some of the soulful beautiful SV dancers dance to this song if it speaks to them. The video is powerful too.

I suspect you might get more attention or comments on your own pole rather than on the playground equipment that I use. It will just be more obvious that it is a pole as opposed to I just look like a weirdo playing on the playground.

Babydragon brings up a good point that it might matter where you are. I’m in the heart of the midwest and I pole in a suburban park so frankly I wouldn’t expect them to be too accepting of it but it is a park where a lot of exercisers go. A personal trainer or two uses it to train people and I have seen yoga classes there so I presume people just think I’m a weird exerciser.

I started poling in the park this summer every chance I got. I go to my local park to run the stairs or the trail and when I’m finished with that I reward myself with a little pole work. I don’t have a portable pole so I use the playground equipment. The only verbal comment I have had was someone yelling “hardcore!” from their car as they left the parking lot. No one else has said anything and I really haven’t seen any sideways glances either. Adults ignore me completely as if I am invisible. Kids almost always come over and want to climb the poles or play on them too. The kids then sometimes ask their parent what I’m doing and the parent always says something like, “she’s exercising.” I don’t do anything sexy, of course, and I wear whatever I wore to run in. I’m not sure what I’ll do if someone says something. I’m not great at confrontation but in my head I’ll be rather steamed–worse things than my pole tricks go on in most parks whether people know it or not.

I really keep hoping some other poler will be there and join me and be my new pole friend!

Sports bras are just as important as the shorts to me. Strappy and sexy, please. For pole I am not as concerned about it being super supportive like I would want for a sports bra that I plan to jog in but if you can do both that’s a huge bonus and I would buy it in a skinny minute. I would prefer to buy individual pieces but would still like them to match if possible–different combinations of tops and bottoms in the same colors or patterns.

Hmmm, sounded really weird at first but definitely has some appeal as a safety measure and alone for light days.

I’m an introverted poler. I do pole at home but I don’t think it’s really about my introversion but more about convenience. However, I suppose if I went to a studio I might find it draining, depending on the people.

As an aside, I finally realized some years ago that my introversion is not a character flaw and I no longer offer any apology for it. I have also learned to respect the fact that I need alone time to recharge and I keep that in mind as far as my life and my schedule and I’m happier for it.

I don’t go to the studio either. I took three or four classes in a studio and haven’t been back for at least a year and a half. I just use Veena’s lessons and an occasional tutorial on YouTube.

I think about trying the other studios in town but they aren’t very close and I just never get around to it.
