Thanks for the responses girls! JBS, like I said in my post I’m not really looking to lose weight really I just want to tone up/be less jiggly , but those supplements are good too. Thanks for everyones input let me know how it goes Paulette 🙂

I stupidly always assumed that if you could do the splits you could do a jade! Now I have a new respect for those girls who can because I am stretching and my foot is over halfway there but has a ways to go to get to my head when I'm laying on my back. My splits are about 2 inches off the ground still, I feel like I will never get either one 🙁

I went to some thrift stores today and they had a lot of cool things to make costumes with for dirt cheap too 🙂 This one should be fun I"m excited!

I think I read somewhere she has taken classes before so it's funny she's doing it on the show now!

Charley I thought you did amazing and I'm glad you took my advice to heart so much! I was just thinking about how all the girls in our competition did well and I think that goes for all pole competitions. I can honestly say I have never seen a "bad" competition performance. Yes they may not be one of the winners but I am starting to figure out different competitions look for different things and a winning routine in one competition might not even place in another.
The whole competition experience for me gave me a newfound respect for the girls who do it all the time because it's really hard to put yourself out there and be compared to other people even though at the end of the day I think everyone in a competition was picked for a reason. Since people were paying a decent amount of money to see the competition I was in, I really wanted to give them a good show and I think as a group we put on a great show for everyone. I was somehow able to keep myself from being nervous by thinking about it that way too, so I think bottom line is know your routine, try to do the best you personally can, and have fun! it's okay if you don't have the hardest tricks of the day but if you have a trick you are already good at the best you have ever done it in the competition then to me that is just as good as winning. I was missing tricks in my routine up to a few days before my performance but the actual performance went really smoothly minus a few hiccups which is to be expected in a competition situation. OK I will stop acting like the competition expert now after doing my whopping one competition https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gifbut it was a huge learning experience for me so I just thought I'd share.

Ok I have only competed once so I am no expert but I will tell you what I can that might help you –
Everyone is right about the clean tricks over the advanced ones. There were A LOT of moves I wanted to put into my competition routine when I was choreographing it in my head but then I realized I didn't really have time to learn much less polish brand new moves. The category I was in didn't allow any inverted moves so that was challenging as well. I ended up having a fairly simple routine and afterward the judges told me that if my routine was a little more advanced I would have won the whole damn thing!!! That was kind of a slap myself in the forehead moment because I stuck with keeping it simple and placed third. Now I know this if I choose to compete again, but if my routine was more advanced maybe I would have sucked in the execution and not placed at all, I will never know but I am happy with the outcome because my goal was to just perform my routine the best I could and the minute I stepped off stage I felt like I nailed 90% of it so I was happy and placing third was just an unexpected bonus. But also I love playing with the audience and having a really entertaining routine, I don't know if I would have been as engaging with the audience if I was worried about nailing harder tricks. My biggest strength in pole is my audience interaction and not my tricks at all (kind of sad if you think about it LOL) so I do routines that showcase me as a performer, not so much my tricks because I know I can engage the audience well so I use that as a cornerstone of my routines. Pick what your strengths are and focus on those, I have heard tons of people say they'd rather see a simple move done perfectly than a harder move done half assed. Hopefully this helps!

Omg I’m stupid and thought you were asking about cartwheel I’m sorry! That goes to show I shouldn’t respond to threads after 2 glasses of wine!

Another common problem people have that I was also having is not putting their bottom hand low enough, it has to be way low down toward the ground. Look at your hand placement after you take a video because for me personally I had no idea how high my hand was until I saw it on video and then got closer to getting it once I started putting my hand lower down. I'm still polishing mine up and it needs a lot of work before I could do it in a performance but I finally can get it after struggling with it for about six months https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_rambo.gif so don't feel too discouraged especially if you got it once already, it's one of those "a-ha!" type moves in my opinion.

I have my song too! And I'm gonna wear shiny pants!!!!!! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

I just saw this but hopefully the stuff I told you earlier helps a bit!

Men are simple creatures! I think he would pleased just watching you stand next to the pole in linger or nothing at all honestly! Men don't hold us to the same standards we hold ourselves to so we can do pretty much anything as long as we are scantily clad and they would eat it up. The best I have for you is IGNORE HIM! When you're doing floorwork, make sure you are having a good time dragging your arms across your body, touching your leg, etc. If you can ignore him and give off the sense you are doing this to appreciate your own body and he is just lucky to be watching then he will be putty in your hands 🙂 good luck!

Yeah the veeners totally brought it and everyone that won in Rookie is a veener, how awesome!

I use them when necessary but I didn't even buy my own grip aid until march this year. I just wiped my hands off every five seconds but when i started doing performances i realized that wasn't going to work in front of a room full of people. However I never use of the sticky ones that improve grip on my hands, just ones that help with sweat. For performances I do use grip aid where needed but at home I almost never use it. I am of the school of thought that they can help in a performance/competition where you don't know what the poles will be like but you probably shouldn't use it when you're trying a move for the first time. I have heard a lot of girls become overly dependent on it and it can also trick you into thinking you have a move in your arsenal when it's actually just the grip aid making it seem like you have the proper strength etc. The only time I use them at home is during the summer when it's hot and I am sliding everywhere but again it's for moves that I have mastered without any grip aid.

I haven't forgotten about you lady! I am super busy now with training for this competition but if you can wait until after the 27th of this month we for sure have a date 🙂
-
Ohhh online dating…so i was in the same boat as you and just out of a relationship and feeling lonely etc…my aunt met her husband on POF so I secretly signed up for it and didnt tell anyone because I was worried about all the stigmas/meeting someone crazy/etc. My boyfriend sent me a message on there after being on the site for only a few days, we ended up talking and that was two years ago and we are still together, he is the most perfect match for me I have had compared to any other guys I've dated. POF is free so you should just sign up since you have nothing to lose, I do agree there can be some weirdos out there but you have just as good of a chance of meeting a weirdo in a bar that you do online. It's almost easier to filter people online because you can see their photos and profile and that puts out more information about them right off the bat than you would most likely get from them at a loud bar. But you should try it out, even if you end up going on some dates that flop at least it gets you out of the house for a night 🙂

Omg this thread is so old now and I have a bunch more, big ones too 🙂 I'll post photos tomorrow but some are on my profile page.

I get into it from a regular invert, gemini is easiest but it's not easiest for me. That's pretty much the only way I ever go into it….if you watch my video titled "Pole art" I do it somewhere around the first minute or so…hope this helps!

No worries at all! Aerial challenge was January 2010 🙂
-
This is going to sound jerky and I so don't mean it to sound jerky because I will redo challenges too, we did already have an aerial pole challenge and an 80's song challenge a while back but as I said totally fine with a re-do 🙂 some other ideas:
Dance to a song in pants
Dance to a song and include the top 5-6 moves you are the most proud of accomplishing or that you feel are your best moves
Classical music/something only instrumental
Music that is opposite of what you normally choose (I never dance to rap or hip hop so that's what I would pick, etc)
Madonna song
An "alter ego" challenge – pick a song and outfit that represents your sexy side, naughty side, dominatrix side, diva side, rockstar side…the list goes on

i am so sorry to hear this news 🙁 i post tons of un-pole related things on here (and as a result everyone knows way more than they need to about my crotch) so don't feel bad the veeners are always here for each other no matter the topic. i will keep you in my thoughts and i know pole seems impossible but it can be great therapy to put on a sad song and just dance without the camera on. <3

Yep Bace is right be careful of your wrist placement, as you get stronger it will not rest on the pole as you will be able to hold yourself away. Even though you didn't mention your wrist it's a good thing to know if you're a beginner. You can try to wear weight lifting gloves to protect your palms which also can protect your hands from calluses just be sure not to get the grippy kind if you are working on spins 🙂 I have some suede ones from target that work well for pole.
