I am interested to hear more about the natural pageants as those seem much better than the ones on tv!
-
I hope Dakota fox gets in too…the judges are gonna have a fierce competition to score!
-
How many slots left?? I only recognize Ariel, Sarah and tracee from amateur – who is Jennifer? Didn’t see a last name but I’ve been at work all day using my phone to check and it doesn’t always display the full page. I think I can actually go this year the lineup is gonna make for an awesome show!
-
OOOH tracee’s never done it before I’m so happy for her ! She’s great
-
Go Sarah!! I would never eat a cupcakd again to have her shoulder mount flip holy crap on a cracker!!!
-
if they do bring them back I hope they have a midwest regional!!! We always get skipped over and i feel like people just assume there's no talent here – well we have Charley and some other names that hail from the midwest and Alethea is from here too. Thank goodness for Mary Ellyn giving us a place to compete but why doesn't USPDF acknowledge us too! 🙁

I didn’t know that only the pros could apply for that one because how did they do it before that? This is the first one I know of where they are all pros. This is definitely the biggest turnout I’ve seen for amateur for sure!

Charley, how do they work that with the pro status? Are they given preference? It's crazy to me that almost the entire competition is pros now, maybe all of them are, I don't know if Amy Guion is but I know she did amateur but don't know where she placed. It's gonna be fierce, how the hell do you judge Michelle stanek against alethea austin!?! My friend just moved to Brooklyn and said I can crash on his couch so I might actually go this year!!! If i go I am gonna be peeing myself with anticipation AHHHH. I didn't submit a video but I am surprised and impressed at all the girls who did, I think this year is the biggest turnout I've seen. I started following them right before Alethea took home her title in 2010.
I am working on submitting for the Great Midwest competition which I was accepted in last year and got 3rd place! Hoping I can get in again this year 🙂

I flat out refuse to even attempt this move, it's not necessary and not even that nice looking, and I find a regular handspring where you go from upright to upside down much more impressive. And the big swinging kick to get into it some people do can't be good for you either….https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

Also anyone ever notice how the moms tend to be either overweight or super attractive?! Lol I bet a psychiatrist would have a field day at one of these!
-
I get appalled at how the girls are treated by some of the mothers. Crying and saying “I don’t want to mom” and being forced to anyway one little girl had a fever and her mom made her go on anyway. And people think I will be a bad mother because I pole and have tattoos ugh!!!!

I am a slow learner and have a body that doesn't belong to your typical pole dancer so I have finally stopped comparing myself to the girls that are 5'9 and 120 lbs. In high school i couldn't run the mile because I was too chubby, I am now a pole dance instructor, performer, and competitor with a third place title, so that is good enough for me even though I can't do an iron x and probably never will! My 'style' is I pick out any song I want to and do whatever routine I want and if people don't like it they don't have to watch, I perform/compete so I can entertain my audience, not even because of the pole! haaa. now you all know why I barely do tricks 😉 you will find your own groove though. I have been poling and a member of this site for almost five years now and still can't do an aerial shoulder mount. but i have had the time of my life at pole related events and made some awesome friends along the way!!!

The Bordello or Pin Up Couture lines from Pleaser are adorable and I have some of their shoes that I use for pole and every day wear too, if you don't mind them being slightly vintage-y, but i get tons of compliments on all the pairs I have.

Oh this is a good video to watch for anyone who has ever experienced a hater comment….sooo funny:
-
I have had plenty of haters too on my vids and I have seen the hateful comments on veenas they upset me too but she does handle them very well and you do just have to let them roll off your back. my personal favorite is on the video i posted of myself POLE DANCING WITH MY FOOT IN A FREAKIN CAST…"its not that hard" really?!?!? i want to hit that person in their stupid face with my cast! haaaa!
hahaha cheeto dust!

I was just about to say, you should just do your own set, that sounds like a fun project!

In high school I couldn't finish the mile because I was too chubby. I now hold the title as the third place Midwest rookie pole champion, how about them apples!!!!!!!

Pink Bandanas with their names on them??

sassafrassle where is the link?! I must see!!!

I think some people have it or they dont…BUT….it is possible to fake it. So I don't believe everyone naturally has it but i believe everyone can have it, I am in the process of putting together a little seminar about stage presence/personality where I teach my personal tricks and boy do I have a lot.
However I will say (and this is going to sound awful) I have seen some performances where the poler doesn't even look happy at all and remains completely expressionless where it's almost weird. I have a hard time getting into those girls because I don't want to watch someone who looks like they don't want to be up there. I know this is probably not the case and the person is just really nervous – but being totally expressionless isn't very convincing that you're doing something you enjoy. I know nerves can get the best of people though and that is something I am going to cover in my seminar too. I got lucky because I never remember being shy in my life – I am loud, talkative and outgoing in my real life so it's easy for me translate that to pole I guess!

Oh girrrrl I hope you get better soon!
