Ohh ok I didn’t know if she was talking about the old poles or the new ones…the older 45 poles have the same base as the 50, but the 45 has a little notch in the bottom where it goes from 50 to 45

Could you ask him if the bottom is all one size/flush or if it has the little bump where it goes from 50 to 45?

Oh also I forgot to say that I usually saturate a cotton ball/washcloth and hold it over my eyes for 20-30 seconds and it loosens almost everything up so it wipes right off, that way you don’t have to scrub and irritate your eyes. I try not to handle the area around my eyes more than I have to because it’s super thin and wrinkles very easily. I haven’t tried coconut oil but I will have to give it a shot.

Sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen!!!!!!!!! Even on cloudy days, even in the winter! Most foundations have an SPF but you should also put SPF on your neck and chest area, most women forget to put sunscreen there so those are the first spots that start to wrinkle.

Yeah the darker your skin is, the less wrinkles you get…I’m half hispanic and my hispanic grandma is 70 and has amazing skin….so I hope I get the hispanic aging genes instead! I certainly got the butt and thighs!

That’s great! I saw your page and shimmery shadows always look really nice on African American ladies, maybe you could do some lighter bronze shades with a dark brown or black for the smokey effect?

My favorite is the Urban Decay one but it’s expensive…however they have a 25% off friends and family until the 12th of this month so let me know if you want the code. The Sephora brand makeup remover works well for a mid priced product and my favorite drugstore remover would be L’Oreal, a lot of their products are comparable to higher end makeup. Yes blending is suuuuuuuuuuuuper important, it takes an okay eye makeup to a great one IMO.

Thanks Audball! Yes I think it looks much more natural than pencil on me…

Veruca I would choose colors that are slightly darker than what I used to tweak it to your skin tone, or you could even do one light color and one dark one instead of a medium color and a dark one. Shimmery eye shadows tend to look good on darker skin tones as well but if you have any lines/wrinkles it could draw attention to them, not sure how old you are https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

Yes Mini is right, never pull your eyelid or any of the skin around your eyes, it’s the most delicate skin you have and makes you wrinkle faster, we don’t want that!

It is easier to connect the lines when you’re first starting, it’s also a lot easier to hold the pencil flat along your eye so it’s parallel to your face instead of perpendicular, if it’s flat along your eyelid you will have a much easier time drawing a straight line until you get some practice. Another good trick is to take a q-tip and smudge the line a little, it looks softer and helps if you make mistakes. This way if you make mistakes and smudge it no one will know it wasn’t a straight line. I recommend buying a crappy .99 eyeliner pencil to practice with over and over until you get comfortable with it, you will most likely catch on surprisingly fast. You could also buy a cheapy liquid eyeliner too, liquid eyeliner is harder to get the hang on but it does look nicer IMO and if you get the hang of liquid liner then you will definitely be able to use pencil and make it look perfect. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif

OK here’s a photo of a straight edge with a different grip from an invert, it seems like I’m kinda arching my back here too…I do tell myself to contract my abs and I feel like I’m doing it, but then I go back and watch video/see photos and it doesn’t look like I’m doing anything differently than I was before, bleh!

Empy…when I was diagnosed they said it wasn’t too severe of a curve and they didn’t tell me to limit my physical activities although that was over 10 years ago so I should probably get rechecked, however I don’t feel like it interferes with any other activities that I know of, I walk fairly straight/have good posture. My mom has it too though and hers was severe enough where she had to have a rod attached to her spine. I don’t know if it’s something that can worsen over time or not, my doctor has never brought it up as a concern but I’m due for a physical anyway. It doesn’t feel uncomfortable when I do any moves like straight edge etc. but I feel like I am really straight and then I go back and look and I’m not. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_sad.gif

Haha yeah my mom is totally nuts about taking care of us and I am 24 years old! But my 70 year old grandma still takes care of my mom when she is sick too, so I don’t feel quite so bad https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif

Emergen-c!!!!!!!!!!! It’s a life saver for me! Take one or two packets before you go to bed tonight and keep taking one every day until your cold goes away on top of whatever OTC stuff you’re taking. Now that it’s winter though I would take an emergen-c every day anyway because it seems to help me not get sick at all if I take one every morning and keep it in my system. The off brand seems to work just as well as the name brand, I usually get the cranberry or raspberry flavor and drink it with OJ, the pink lemonade flavor is good too though. I’ve also had good luck with Zicam which works on the same principle as Emergen-c although I heard somewhere that Zicam can cause hearing damage or loss or something but who knows how true that is or not.

Also my mom (haha I am such a baby) puts eucalyptis oil on the shower floor and then runs the steam and has me sit in the bathroom in my undies with a book for about 30 minutes or so, it really helps drain everything out. Also get a pot of really hot water that has steam coming off of it and melt some Vicks inside the water, put your face above the pot of water with a towel over your head to keep the steam inside and inhale the vapors. If you can get past the suffocating sensation it works very well and it’s good for your skin too! My mom also has this crazy mexican old lady concoction that consists of honey, canyenne pepper and ginger but I have never been brave enough to drink it, I pour it down the drain when she walks away, blehhhhhhh!!!!! I’m sure it would work quite well though!

If you can, try to just keep the shimmery colors on your brow bone to highlight it but away from your eyelid/undereye circles as it does tend to accentuate them. I will get up the natural smokey eye tutorial asap!

I am going to try to do a tutorial for this today after I get home from work, you can totally do smoky eyes but you have to choose colors you feel doesn’t accentuate your undereye circles…which most likely means probably not black and using plums or browns instead to do more of a natural smoky eye. Also using any shimmery eyeshadows tends to accentuate circles/lines/everything else we want to hide so that could make you more self conscious of the undereye circles. Color placement is key too, I sometimes just keep the darker colors on the outer corners of my eyelids which makes it still look smoky but you don’t use nearly as much dark eyeshadow. I’ll get one up today after work, I already have it filmed I just need to edit it.

Yes I do too normally since I can’t really afford fancy schmancy workout clothes…but so many people asked where I got a top I had on I figured it was just easier to make a thread here and hopefully some other girls can take advantage of it too, hopefully I didn’t come off as snotty.

Yes I would try both if they’re meant to be layered, or you could try that Benefit product mentioned above, I haven’t used that specific product but I have a concealer from Benefit that I really like. They also make really good eye de-puffing products if you have puffiness also, one of them works almost instantly, it’s amazing!

Yes Smashbox has those gift sets semi-frequently and they are a GREAT deal. Each product individually would run well over $100 total and they come with a lot of the products in the gift set that are full sized which I really like, most other brands do smaller size products in their gift sets. Their photo op undereye primer is really good too, it’s not a concealer exactly but it will brighten up your eye area. I should have suggested that in the thread about your under eye circles but I forgot about it existing until just now. Sephora was giving out little sample tubes of it at one point when I worked there but I don’t know if they regularly carry the sample size or it was just a promo thingy…

Yes Amy is right, concealer is thicker than eye primer, however I have a MAC creamy nude colored eyeshadow primer that could possibly work as a concealer but it is thinner and wouldn’t cover quite as well. I’ve never tried to use it for that but I do feel that it’s kind of hard to use products for a dual purpose like that because they were designed to do one or the other unless they’re made to do both. But I feel like a concealer and eyeshadow primer in one would be a good idea. You’re better off using two separate products, do you put your concealer on first? I actually do my foundation first and then concealer because foundation gives you some coverage and you won’t have to use as much concealer which helps it not crease since it’s not piled on. Hope this helps a little bit

Hmm now I’m confused, damn moves having all different names! I am doing a pretzel here then since the pole isn’t all the way across my back…but I would think you would be able to walk into both the ballerina and the pretzel spin position from the floor? Anyway I thought I didn’t have a video of it but I do!!! http://www.youtube.com/user/glitterhips#p/u/3/nmc4uuq2OPI It’s around 1:10. Assuming you can get into the pretzel and ballerina the same way that’s how I do it, I think I am doing a pretzel though. My bad! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_redface.gif
