Happy and Healthy is the way we should all be. Skinny is not always healthy, a skinny person could have the same amount of body fat as you and zero muscle tone.
Keep up the good work, enjoy poling and never let anyone get you down. You must be a way stronger dancer than she is to be so rotten on your postings anyways.

My daughter is now 18 and started poling with my when she was barely 16. I asked permission from my instructor due to the fact that their policy is normally 18 and over. My daughter did not have a strong view of herself and was always complaining. "Im too short, my belly is too big, etc." The usual teenager style complaints that you normally get.
My daughter found her strength and self esteem in these classes. The ladies in my class enjoy her being there and she has learned alot. My daughter is now playing water polo in college and does not get a chance to pole as often but I do see a change in the way she carries herself. I believe the support of a great instructor and the fun we had together in class made a major difference. "Go Baby Buns!" The instructor's call of incouragement when she popped of her first invert without a struggle. It all depends on the child. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_cheers.gif

MemberSeptember 24, 2012 at 8:47 pm in reply to: feeling like the juice is being sucked out of my lifePole is what saves my sanity. I was all work and no fun. Get up, go to gym, go to work, and repeat. I was bored with it all and getting restless. While surfing the internet I found a pole studio in Turlock. I took one sample class and was hooked. I now plan my vacation around how many extra pole classes I can fit in while I'm off work. I so look forward to my days off because I have pole class.
I have made new friends and have a new lease on life. I am more in tune with the female side of me (I work in a man's world) and much happier than I've been in a long time. Pole allows you to just let it all out and lose yourself in the music and your sensual side. Pole makes me feel beautiful and feminine. https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_queen.gif

If you are at war with yourself because your daughter’s water polo game is the same night as class. What to chose arrgghhhh what to chose! You own more pole shoes than regular shoes. Your closet consists of work uniforms, a couple regular shirts and jeans, and pole tanks, shorts, socks, leg Warmers. Only a 1/4 of the closet is non pole items. You wake up in the morning and you know “ow, we did the booty workout last night”. My biggest is the fact that I plan my vacations around the number of extra pole dance classes I can squeeze in on my days off. Who cares about going somewhere on vacation, I want my pole class!

MemberAugust 17, 2012 at 12:52 am in reply to: Newbie Here! Too akward and not in shape enough for pole dancing?I’ve fallen in love with my studio and instructors all over again. I walked in to the studio without a clue, no strength, and out of shape. In two years I have learned so much and gained new friends. I was always encouraged and told that the muscles will learn and the strength will come. Our instructors have a class that challenges both brand new students and long term students. When someone makes a comment about not being strong enough or fit enough for pole she says, “That’s why you come to pole, to get into shape and build strength! ” So built yourself up and yes Veena’s lessons will be a perfect start for you to build your inner and outer pole goddess.

I have tried the short seam from V. Secret and they do have the center seam but they are very comfortable too. Its the pink brand of yoga shorts. The only issue I have is the metal decorations on the fold over part. Im not to fond of that but it covers the booty, got coverage from bottom to top when I don’t fold it down. I just wear a light tank top to protect my skin from the decorations. (Just say no the bum crack showing). They are worth a try in a pinch and you wont have any personals showing when you invert.

MemberAugust 8, 2012 at 3:02 pm in reply to: Is it a must to attend a pole studio to learn poling?I love the very well explained videos here and I do use Studio Veena as I guide, for me Venus Pole is my girls night out fun night of pole learning and seeing each persons unique style. We are a close group, lots of laughter, sometimes tears, great learning with the students we now count as friends. You can do it through the video help here, DVDs, or instruction in an actual studio. I chose what makes my pole learning enjoyable and progress for me. Never think your not progressing, even a small spin with your own flair and flash is progress. Wish you luck

Whatever you do don’t go in her house, your being set up. Get your personal stuff and if its really worth the return of your pole do it legally protected. Wishing you the best.

I’m currently a correctional officer and only a few people I work with know I pole. I was a Catholic school secretary and a construction worker prior to working in correction. Pole helps bring out the female and sexy in me since my job is pretty much a male dominated field.

After I got hooked on pole I asked my instructor if my daughter could try a class. My daughter was 16 at the time. The important thing here is my daughter had low self esteem and a bad body image. Pole has worked wonders for her. She loves it and now at 18 is telling me “Schools almost out, now I can go with you more often.” She still has a thing about body image but it is that way for all of us. The confidence that pole has built in her is wonderful. So my thing is each family is different and each child will react differently. We need to give our children confidence by showing the confidence in ourselves.

Slow changes one step at a time. Have cut way back on diet soda for starters and drinking more water. Going to up the activity levels now.
