very cute idea! would be a nice xmas card for friends =) i love cutting out pole photos, too. i just made a tshirt for my boyfriend with some silhouettes of me on the pole.
how do you sent the silhouettes? just as a image on the computer or as poster?
wish you good luck with your idea!

but i think the suggestion to work on your shoulder mount v is really good. it´s looks much better when you can hold the position and don´t place your legs directly on the pole.
you could also do a shoulder mount tuck or jacknife

no problem 🙂 when there aren´t any new lessons, there are the featured lessons instead.

MemberNovember 25, 2011 at 1:13 pm in reply to: How do you prepare students to spinning? What about the first spin you teach?not sure wheather you mean with "step around" what i think. if you mean going around the complete pole with one step, that´s exactly what i like to teach before starting with spins.
first i tell them to keep always one foot on the ground. when they can do it without problems i allow my students to lean out further and use a bit more momentum so that for a little moment both feet are off the ground.
the first spin after this which i teach is the fireman spin. i think it´s easier to keep the arms engaged than in the front/back knee hooks. you´re close to the pole, have a lot of leg contact to the pole and it´s not so difficult to get momentum for this one.
you could also try some transitions with some spin. for example you make a half turn with both hands on the pole and let yourself spin around the pole down to the floor with the back on the pole. so the beginning would be the same as for a back knee hook, but the weight will stay on your outside foot

good luck! i hope you will post your progress!

this depend of course on what tricks you already can do. but my suggestions in additon to psychoholicslag´s ideas would be:
forearm grip and lower into a westerflag (needs a lot of strenght)
if your foot is hooked very safe you can go into a dangerous brian and all the tricks you can do out of this one (dangerous d, archer, bow and arrow,…)
from the bow and arrow you could just get down on the floor or from the other tricks sit up

MemberNovember 23, 2011 at 2:36 pm in reply to: HELP ANYONE! I can’t climb cause it hurts & I keep slipping!there was another veener who had troubles with his pole climb, i´m sure you can already find a lot of great tipps at her thread: https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/Pole_climb_help_20111120071112
it sounds a bit like your skin is very sensitive. everyone has some pain when starting to climb and sit on the pole and has to get used to it, but to me it seems your pain might be worse. maybe you just can´t get a good grip because the pain avoids that you grip tight enough (with the feet and legs). if this is the reason i would just give your skin more time to adapt and be careful that you don´t overstress it.

i made my nickname when i started to photograph. it´s very simple how i came to that name: I wanted to "catch" emotions with my photos, so i called myself emotioncatcher on different websites where i uploaded my photos.
since then i started using it on all websites, also here and on youtube. but i think it also fits very good to a pole dancer, because emotions are also very important to me for a good and impressive dance. =)

there are so many great songs, you should have a look at amy´s block
she always posts a lot of great pole dance songs!
-
congrats on your new moves, although i don´t know all the names. i never had those problems with my superman, maybe you can try to keep a little more distance between your butt and the pole. otherwise as always a video of you doing this trick is most helpful to give you better tipps.
i´ve never competed, because i never felt ready for it. but we only have miss pole dance germany and miss polefitness germany here, two big competition. maybe i would have entered a smaller competition. if you want to take part in a competition i see no reason why you shouldn´t. in one year you can learn still a lot and have a lot of time to prepare for your first comp. also if you won´t be very successful in it, you still will learn a lot for your next competitions and i´m sure you´ll have a lot of fun.
if you want to learn new stuff i would maybe try to combine some of the tricks you already can do.
do you want to chose your song for the competition already now or do you just ask for a good pole dance song in general?

i hope you´ll do a new one veena, your chair work is always so great to watch =) but you could still post your old links to give us an inspiration! 😉

hey poledollqld,
i´ve never been to dortmund, but i found this studio: http://www.poledance-dortmund.de/
but i´m not sure if they have open classe and the structured classes seem to be more for beginners. but maybe you can ask them if you can sometimes practice there on your own.

i already knew the first video, but the second is even more impressive!
both pole look thin. my next pole will be definitly a 45mm =)

as kobajo said i would already ask him which style he prefers. most men might prefer those strong male tricks, but we all know that there are also a few who do bodywaved and sexy split tricks.
if he´s more the typical male type, i would make sure to chose tricks which won´t look too female. but i would still let him go through the basics, because it´s not only strenght which makes a good pole dancer, it´s also a lot of technic and practice
