wohoo thats great girls! 😀 It would prob b best 2 post the pics under this discussion to keep them all in one place? My flexy aims are splits progression and back flexibilty. I want to be able to master the ballerina on the pole some day! What level of flexibilty are all you girls? I'll post my first pics up tonight after I've stretched

That split looks fantastic! well done, I need2 be super warm to get anywhere near the floor, also some days I just have a bad split day 🙁 My pole teacher has a yoga swing in the studio and I can usually always get down really far after pratising my splits in it. its amazing!!

I practised my SM from the floor first as in bum on floor, I would ,ift it from here then straddle it and drop my legs back down without hooking. It was only when I was confident in lifting and controlling this move that I attempted to hook on. I think that when your lifting it you are able to raise you bum higher and get a good grip of the pole. It defo is a scarey move and could be dangerous so I woukld advise you to make sure its lifted and controllled before hooking on? The lift from floor method is a great way of acheiving this safely. I witnessed a friend slide straight onto her neck at full speed as she kicked into the move and hooked on, not fun to see she was very lucky! Hope this helps and good luck 🙂

Hey fairy 🙂 I literally could not even touch my toes and felt like gettin flexy was so impossible that there was no point in trying! I started just sitting in stretch positions in front of the tv and then realised I would hav done a full really good strecthin session while watchin a 1hour show. I think bein distracted realy helps with how repetitive stretchin can be.also as I felt I was getin no where I started 2get a picture taken on my (very bad) splits progress every week r 2.after6 months I managed 2 bring my splits 2the floor on 1 side 😀 I do need2 b really warm n well stretched but couldn’t blive it was possible! I have never done any type of dance r anything b4. Wat kind of stretches do u usually do?x

Hi mimi, welcome to the world of pole! 🙂 you'll be addicted in no time. I started poling and usually still do in my bare feet. Although I can pole in heels i'm just more comfortable in my bare feet. Its your own preference although you mite want to play about in heels to get used to it and it does make you feel more confident!
Always always warm up!!! You can do youself a right nasty injury if you don't. I began poling at home learning my watching youtube vids but really wish I hadv of found this site first as the lessons on here are fab! I kinda jumped a bit too far ahead and needa try relearn the basics where as here their all in order.
Have you ever taken lessons or what inspired you to buy a pole?

Hiya and welcome to SV! I’m also a young mom (22) with an 18 month old very active toddler! Its near impossible4 me to pole when he’s in the room as he wants to run round the pole!lol I try to make use of his naptime which means no music on when I’m polin 🙁 When Krystian was younger he would play in the travel cot quite well so that mite be an idea?extended butterfly already?!congrats that’s fantastic! I still haven’t got it,scared of falling!any tips?have u been using anything to help you grip the pole for your cross leg release?

The twisted wrist grip is easier to mount with although a friend of mine inverted from this grip and when she got up there her hands were in such an akward position that when she got up there all she could do was come straight down!!luckily she didnt injure herself but I'm only going to try acheive the shoulder mount with cup hands now!
