Thanks, Ewa Tran, for the tips. I am not giving up on Cup grip. Will keep at it and work on changing my placement to find the right balance : )

    Thanks, Pinsforkids.

The twisted grip was hard for me and I felt the pain in my lower body as I tried to pull myself up. I would just get exhausted and flop down. Now….no problem….no pain. On the Cup grip, I was also wondering just because it is new to me, am I going through "newbie pains?" I think I am. I want to be able to do it and will work at trying differnt and better placement of my collar bone area. The Superman move was incredibly painful to me at first and if left on my own, I would have thought, "Stop. This is a crazy move. You are hurting yourself……" But others told me they went through the same thing and now I am over the Superman pain. I think it will be the same for Cup grip.

I'm in for the "good bruises." : )

I would also like to add on bruises: I think there are good and bad ones. The bruises I get from my legs pulling up and moving around the pole are what I considered "good." I am not hurting myself. I am using my leg muscles and I just get bruises. But on the cup grip, I think I got "bad" bruises in my collar bone area. I was feeling too much pain on my bones in this area….and I don't think that is good. Thought to myself, "Don't be a fool. Enjoy poling…don't go over board with the "no pain-no gain theory." I may have been doing something wrong or maybe part of the learning process. I may be applying too much pressure against my neck/shoulder area for the cup grip. Don't need to apply as much pressure with twisted grip…and that's why I like it better.

I have wondered the same about grips, JelliCrew.

I first learned the twisted grip.  At first could not do it but now I can…..and love it. After practice, doesn't hurt and I can pull my body up and over the pole without feeling much effort. I have even learned that I don't need to press a lot of weight against my shoulder neck area, so no pain. I see lots of videos where the "stars" use cup grip. So I have practiced the cup grip and can finally do it…..but with this grip, I find I need to press my collar bone, neck-shoulder area more into the pole to find balance to pull myself up….and this HURTS. So I have wondered the same as you stated, if a particular grip is better for moves. Right now I prefer the twisted grip. No pain or bruises for me this way.

Yes! I love the look of the fall over and over way of getting out. Right now, I am working on loosening the thigh grip so my legs can gently slide down the pole. Right now, I slide a bit  then get stuck….slidea bit  more and get stuck. It's the choppy way of sliding down : )

If anyone is inspired to post a video of ways to get out of Superman, I would definitely watch and learn : ) Right now, I can only share how to get STUCK on the pole after getting into Superman.

    Lyme Lyte,

I tried pysllium husks. Had to mix the pysllium husks dried formula with 8 oz. of water. It may have been the most awful tasting mixture I have ever tried. I had to drink it very fast because within a few seconds the pysllium husks and water turned into a thick, goopy mixture which seemed like mucus. Sounds awful, I know. I think there were some pills that went along with this regime also. I could only do it for about a week and could no longer handle the awful drink plus being out in public and having to find a restroom because the formula was kicking in. But I did see results. Seeing the results made me think, "Yuck, THAT was in my body. Glad to get rid of it."

The second time, I tried, colon cleasning was through a kit I found  at a mall Vitamin store. May have been "Vitamin World." No drinking pyslliym husks in this kit. It was a serious of pills. I did not complete that regime either, because the effects were very uncomfortable with my daily life. Too much preoccupation with running to the restroom.

So, I want to try again. and am seriously wondering how I will find the time. It's as if I need a two week vacation from regular life, to be alone and go through a colon cleanse program!

I have tried two different colon cleansing methods in the past and did see results. But both times, did not finish the amount of days I was supposed to do it, because the effects started interfering with my daily life. Such as being in a meeting with someone and feeling rumbling sensations in my abdomen and thinking, "Oh know, please no embarassing body situations when I stand up….or….I really want to run to the restroom now." After reading these posts, I want to try again because now I am thinking, "My stomach will feel so flat and light for the pole!"

Your approach and meaning behind challenges works for me! I would feel inhibited othewise. I just want to practice, learn and have fun.  I also wondered if there was some award or deadline, at first, and was glad to find out that the answer is, "No." Thanks : )

I like this question/discussion. I am currently practing, Superman (working on not getting stuck on the pole) jade splits, Ayesha, cup grip invert, and twisted grip handspring. I float between practincing these moves.  I find that I can go about 5 reps and then I have to be carefult that I am not getting too tired out where my muscles start to feel a little shaky or "noodle syndrome."  My mind wants to keep going, but my body sometimes gets seriously tired after 5 reps. Sometimes I combine the moves into a mini routine and other times, just do the same move over and over.  Interesting thought about reps.

Still learing. I uploaded a pic of Linda Hamilton's muscles from "The Terminator." And it did not appear in the thread where I wanted it. I wanted it to go under the muscles thread. I will get better at this.

I think you are onto a great idea, Joelex. Pole performance to live rock music! And I think you are right in some of the guys may be thinking you would upstage them. But your group would get more bookings and publicity : )

This is one of my favorite moves. I am also working on it. Can do it….sometimes. Here's what works for me. 1) I kept trying, (as we are told) . I like to hold the pole in a twisted grip and using my leg in a kicking motion to help my body up. For months, I kept floundering. But kept at it.  2) One day my body just felt the push/pull between my arms…… and my hips moved higher in space and my legs opened up naturally into a "V" and It got it! 3) Here's what I have learned that works for me: I am pulling away from the pole with my upper arm while at the same time pushing into the pole with my lower arm.  This is a strong force of balance that needs to be right. 4) I also play around with different levels of how far I am leaning away from the pole as I kick my leg to start momentum. 5) For me, the key is finding the right balance between pulling away with my upper arm while pushing into the pole with my lower. 6) I also think if you just keep at at……eventually your body does what you want. 7) I also visualize moves I want to get. I belive in visualization. Lots of athletes do. Might sound silly to some….but it is not.

I love my legs. Born with longer legs and discovered in my life that I like dancing and am good at it. I enjoy  dancing and running to music. And now I have discovered legs and those muscles are a big part of pole. This is also a huge factor in what attracts me to pole. I think everyone should love and appreciate their legs beyond their sex appeal. Legs get us from one place to another. They are our "wheels." We should know how to work them.  And for some reason, when it comes to fashion, all my life, I have always been attracted to shoes!  Shoes are just fun. I consider shoes part of the fun within  the leg world.  And for the sex appeal part….I attract men who seem to like legs and who really like my  shoes. (Men just get so silly around high heels for some reason 🙂  There's a cliche that smart men like legs. I find that to be true at times. (Although, I get my share of stupid ones too!)  I know others who read this will understand. I think anyone who particpates in pole knows exactly what I mean. The legs, the shoes, the fun!

Yes, me too, Ginger 78 on working out at the gym and thinking, "This should improve my pole fitness! I lift weights. I used to just count my reps. Wanted to get it over with. Now I count and move more slowly as I lift and lower because I now think, "Fluid slow reps will make your arms and upper body stronger so you will be able to move your body around the pole better 🙂
