Hi Sarah! It’s Natasha (aka Cricket) – I met you at the studio last year when I was back home (I grew up in Austin but have been living in L.A. for 9 years). It’s nice seeing you on here! Tell the other Natasha pole dancer I say ‘hello’ https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif How the poling life back in ATX?

I can see why having the cut-off at 35 would make sense though, considering most age group ranges for statistics purposes are 18-34, 35-44, 45-54 etc.

And can I just say that none of these ladies are Spinsters by any means! I’m only a few months away from the ‘Spinster’ category (35+) so it pains me to think I’ll be considered a senior in the pole dancing world soon. ha! https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_confused.gif

Bah! I got a chance to watch Zoraya’s and Sarah’s all the way through, but by the time I was done with Sarah’s the other videos were pulled.

Hey Veena ladies,
I strongly encourage you LA-based dancers to audition. I did the March Girl Next Door show and it was such a fun experience — the production values are high, the venue is great and Kelly is a fantastic producer. And it’s a terrific way to be a part of the LA poling community while meeting some fantastic fellow dancers!

Those of you who attended the Amateurs today, I would SO love a recap!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this outfit. I’ve been on the look-out for nude-colored dancewear with rhinestones for MONTHS and it’s surprisingly difficult to find. Guess I’ll have to get it custom-made or place an order with you https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

I’m so bummed to have to miss USPDF this year, but due to some crazy exorbitant veterinary bills, I’ll be sitting out the championships this year. Fortunately I was able to sell my ticket to Amber Richards’ friend Nerissa, who’ll be sitting in Center Orchestra, Row M, Seat 107. Please say ‘hi’ to her!
I can’t wait to read the competition recaps!!

Nice to "meet" you, Jaerbear!
I was born and raised in Austin before moving to LA eight years ago, but will always be a Texan in my heart https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
You’ve joined a great community here.
Are you taking pole classes in Austin? Whenever I’m in town I swing by Brass Ovaries, but I hear S Factor is trying to open up a studio there too.

MemberMarch 10, 2010 at 12:08 am in reply to: Girl Next Door Show: Wed., March 3rd @ King King in LAIt was such a fun show! Very well produced and the performers were all so varied and represented the cross-section of pole dancers – from the more burlesque side to performance artists to acrobatic dancers. There was also an aerial silk performer, Laura Sheehey who blew everyone away: http://www.bohemianpirate.com/
I think Girl Next Door’s monthly residency kicks off at the King King in May!
I posted my routine to Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rq7O8ZsJUI https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

MemberFebruary 25, 2010 at 10:27 pm in reply to: USPDF March 2010 – Pro and Amateur NationalsHi Everyone,
I’m looking to sell my ticket to the USPDF Championships since finances dictate I can’t splurge on another NYC trip this year. I bought my ticket early, so it’s a good seat (Center Orchestra, Row M, Seat 107).
I paid a total of $93.25 for it, which includes $85 for the ticket, $2.50 for handling and $5.75 for the customer service fee, but I’ll sell it for $85. Let me know if you or anyone you know is looking for a ticket. Thanks!

That was one of those tricks in which the entire class was able to figure out except for me at the very end. I hate it when that happens
LOL you weren’t the only one! That trick is sooo cool but way over my head. I was at the workshop but didn’t know any of the SV girls who might have been there. Next time I’ll say hi cricket! Jenyne was definitely a trooper that day. Was great meeting verucablue at the show!!
Hey drkfaery – I recognize you! I think you were on the pole to my left https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

MemberJanuary 26, 2010 at 10:53 pm in reply to: POLE SHOW LA @ Be Spun (Jenyne, Leigh Ann, Alethea, etc…)Who went to the workshops and how did they go??? Did u guys have a blast? https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif
I took all three workshops and loved all of them. Marlo’s was great since it was just four of us, so we got a lot of individual attention and learned useful tips like how to use the shoulder/back muscles while climbing instead of our arms (it ain’t easy). The students grew exponentially as the day progressed. I think Jenyne’s had 16 students! And poor girl was sick, but she managed to stay smiley and powered through.
I learned a ton, like the scale split Marlo does in her Leprechaun routine, and in Karol’s workshop I finally got the superwoman flip over to outside leg hang. And after many failed and very frustrating attempts in which I nearly turned Hulk, I learned the Jenyne "slinky"/cartwheel down the pole. That was one of those tricks in which the entire class was able to figure out except for me at the very end. I hate it when that happens https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_smile.gif

MemberJanuary 25, 2010 at 8:43 pm in reply to: POLE SHOW LA @ Be Spun (Jenyne, Leigh Ann, Alethea, etc…)For those of you who missed it, here are videos of some of the Pole Show LA performances:
Leigh Ann’s rocking "Little Red Corvette" routine – she started on the fireplace! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2j_Opqchag" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The Pole Garage’s "Spy Girls" routine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWbM9yZDN2c" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (I’m the one with the side ponytail on the far right)
Jenyne Butterfly – so gorgeous and entertaining to watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpr3C1S4Gqo" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Anjel Dust’s fire routine – hot! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rS1Hbm7e6O8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Alethea Austin – hands down, the best use of an office rolling chair in a routine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcOVsOnq2v4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The aforementioned group routine with the crazy stacked spinning Gemini: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMtxxhp07oc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

MemberJanuary 25, 2010 at 8:10 pm in reply to: POLE SHOW LA @ Be Spun (Jenyne, Leigh Ann, Alethea, etc…)Thanks to everyone who made it out on Saturday. The amount of talent in that room was insane.
Loved Marlo’s retro Gershwinn-meets-Dr. Dre routine (she stuffed her knickers with glitter, which exploded mid-way through the routine) and the finale act, which had Leigh Ann, Stella, Tami and Amy stacked on top of each other in Geminis on a spinning 18-foot pole.
And of course, I have to give props to my sisters at The Pole Garage! My neck is still sore from all the crazed hair-flipping.
I got to meet Castleoutsider too.
Did you go? What did you think?

MemberJanuary 14, 2010 at 9:02 pm in reply to: POLE SHOW LA @ Be Spun (Jenyne, Leigh Ann, Alethea, etc…)I was just asked to do my fire act for the show, so I will be doing that also. I’m so excited to be able to perform twice in such an impressive line up. If you’re going to be in California you’ve got to make it down. Buy tickets at http://www.bespun.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; A window for the Pole Show will pop-up.
NO WAY, Anjel! I’ve *heard* about your fire show, never actually seen it. Whee! So exciting.
