This is the one that she bought but it looks almost identical:

Veena has a bunch of routines where things are linked together. I get inspiration from just watching videos. There are so many ways to link moves and I like watching those that do things in ways I never would have thought of. There is something to be said about studios that teach routines or have a freestyle portion of their class. I ahve so many "tricks" that I can do but very few of them ever make it in to me dancing unless I am preparing for a performance.
There are a lot of threads here about freestyling.

I am not sure where the one girl in Cleveland bought hers but the thing started ripping almost immediately at the seams. Also they do not velcro together properly. It looks like the pink one in this photo.

I had a LM as my first pole for 3 years and would still have it if I had not won an XPole. It was standard, not rotator. LM has changed their installation directions so the eating of the ceiling is not as common.

I can't see videos at work. The studio where I ususally go teaches this as an entry into box splits. When you first place your foot onto the pole you need it in the arch of your foot. This is not an easy move and if you cannot get your body far down in a straddle stretch or if your lower body is longer than your upper body finding the proper positioning is not easy. Try doing a box splt from the floor first….it is going to be the same type of movement. Or if you know how to work on round kicks in karate that will help too.

I have always known the climbing with your feet as monkey climb. It is also a chinese style climb.

I cannot believe there has been no mention of Grindhouse yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=41XzHIU8u3U
There is a pretty amusing movie called Zombie Strippers.
Isn't there pole dancing in True Blood?
There was also a pretty funny episode of Wilfred where Wilfred dances in full dog costume: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LY_sL_RSex8

The XSLite is also only about 3 inches off the floor, however the pole itself is much higher. Nice thing though is that shorter extensions are not very expensive.

Here is a fairly straightforward tutorial on doing them (with out the pole). Pirouettes are all about balance and a tight core.

And this does not appear to be an issue any longer. The first generation of these poles had this issue but I think Veena has had her TG for a few years now and it has not happened. I believe that they changed the anodization process.

If you are not totally dead set on a SSA, I know for a fact that XPole sells off XStages that are used at shows and conventions for I want to say 30 or 40% off list price. They do not advertise these at all so you have to call. I know one of the girls here in Cleveland picked up 3 used XSL's last year. I also know of a girl here in Cleveland that may be wanting to get rid of one or two of her XSLs (50mm) and is letting them go for about $500.

MemberNovember 11, 2012 at 10:06 am in reply to: 500 mm pole extension still too long for 7ft ceilingRobyn, you cannot just take A pole into account. There is also the base that adds a few inches and the dome which adds a few more. The absolute MINIMUM that A + base + dome will compact to is 48 inches or about 1219 mm.

MemberNovember 11, 2012 at 10:04 am in reply to: 500 mm pole extension still too long for 7ft ceiling6'10" is NOT 7' and the A pole plus 125 plus 500 plus 250 will NOT fit…you will be 2 half inch too tall.
6'10" is 82 inches, the minimum distance that all of the pieces put together can go is 82.5 inches. Did you measure the 500 mm piece? Is it 20 inches or almost 30?
Remove the 125 mm piece and you should be fine. The 125 mm piece is just under 5 inches, and the A pole will extend 5.5 inches total.
Ceiling: 82 inches
A pole + dome : 48 inches to 53.5 inches
250mm : 10 inches
500mm : 20 inches
These three pieces will get you 78 to 83.5 inches.

Pantera does this all the time. I know there was a discusstion about this a while back…I will try to find it.
BTW….here is Pantera: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=holxnaB7LQw&feature=fvsr
She does it about 3:15 but it is totally worth watching this whole 4 minutes of badassery.

MemberNovember 10, 2012 at 5:46 pm in reply to: 500 mm pole extension still too long for 7ft ceilingAre you sure that it is 0050 and not 0500??
045 is a 45mm pole, CR is chrome and the last 4 digits should be the length in mm. The extensions are in sleeves that are specifically cut to their size so it is impossible to fit a 750 mm extension into a 500 mm sleeve.
So basically: A Pole + dome is 48" totally collapsed. The 500+250+125 adds 34.5" for a total of 82.5 inches. Your ceiling is 84 inches. There is no way this will not work unless you are not installing all of this correctly or do not have your A Pole totally collapsed.

My go to move is always a flag. I REALLY like messing with guys on this one, and it totally messes with them! But then again, I can bust out a flag without even thinking. This is the most fun late in the evening at a bar with drunken idiots who fall on their faces. I kind of use it as payback. But then again, I am evil that way.

MemberNovember 10, 2012 at 3:39 pm in reply to: 500 mm pole extension still too long for 7ft ceilingThe outside of the container will tell you the size of the extension or you can measure it. The 750 is about 29.5 inches, the 500 is just under 20.
What pieces are you trying to put together?
A Pole is the bottom pole that has the adjuster cover and goes into the base. B Pole is the first extension and it is about 3 feet long.

MemberNovember 10, 2012 at 10:20 am in reply to: Sooo…I wanna Platinum Stages Extreme Multi-Piece Super Pole. The big dome exists on both the PS and the X.
Being a male I would be concerned with any multipiece pole and more so with the PS. At least with the X you can order the longer joints which give you 5 inches of reinforcement at the joint. PS will only have the small amount that is threaded at that joint so if you are doing any power moves there is a very real possibility that you will bend if not break the pole in half in a short time frame. Yes, this does happen. If you are leaning to PS do yourself a favor and order a one piece.

Have you checked to see if it is expanded and needs to be moved in the opposite direction? If you look at the crack in the steel when it is loose the two pieces oif metal will be almost touching, when it is expanded they will be a few mm apart.

Wow, really? The ones that are in my picture were normally like $3 a pack but HL always has scrapbooking stuff on sale so they were like $1.50 a pack.
Seriously check the scrapbooking section. If you do not need Swarovski crystals, there are only $5 for 300 rhinestones:

HL also has downloadable 40% off coupons that I use all the time.

CapFeb, my local Hobby Lobby has a TON of rhinestones. One thing I have found though is that they generally have the Swarovski crystals in a locked case in the jewelry section. Look in teh same area where they have the silver necklaces and jewelry. It is usually a long case near the end of one of the jewelry isles. They also have a lot of self stick rhinestones in the scrapbooking section. Surprisingly these have held up rather well on a pair of shoes that I added accent stone to. I think I have worn them 3 or 4 times and have only lost one or two stones.
Darn…I thought I had pics here but they must be on the DIY FB page.

Look them dead in the eye and say NO. Keep the eye contact going until they are uncomfortable for even asking you.

This is the thread where I saw it. You may want to contact X Pole Tech and see if there has been any progress on the video:
