No, you probably over tensioned the pole when you set it up as in floor to ceiling.
Again, what bigger thingy are you speaking of? Is this the old style XPole with the screw together pieces or the new with the X Joints?

Old style XPoles screwed together at the joints where the new style XPoles have the XJoint which keeps the pieces together.

I have yet to get over my fear of a freaking cartwheel mount. I am typically fine with head back moves but face forward moves mess me up. Part of this also has to do with my inability to do an inverted split grip….I am afraid if I cannot even successfully get into that move then how am I going to control an invert into it?

Why do you think people love their foam rollers and rolfing? I tore my hamstring a few weeks back to the point where I could not even walk the next morning. Had a massage at lunch time that day and was able to walk fine after it.

Call XPole. They can tell you what size set screw belongs where.

Fake X Poles also have those X's now (I think Lyme's pole has them). That is no longer a valid way of knowing.

Are you sure 100% this is an xpole? On top of the dome I side the silicone ring should be a serial number. What you are describing is not normal and I cannot even figure out how the locking screws can fall into the inside of the pole as the adjustor rod is a solid piece of metal.
