I thought she used to be on SV many moons ago, too.

Height of pole out of the box, stability of the pole out of the box, material of the pole, customer service…these are just some of the reasons people go with one pole over the other.

My opinion?  Why does it matter?

I know that Midwest is sponsored by Lovers Lane and gives away a trip to Hedo.  The World Pole Dance Competition was HELD at Hedo in 2009.  We buy shoes from adult stores and many of us buy our pole wear from them also.  I really do not see the big deal.

And as far as what they sell at bodybuilding competitions?  You would not believe!  Much of the sexual stuff tends towards making you last longer or getting a stronger erection but I have also seen lubes at The Arnold.

I do not think there is a such a thing as over dressed at any pole event.  Nor underdressed!

  • Ok, so I am going to do it…a huge shout out to XPole.  Not sure if the final poles on the stage were X's but their training poles sure were!

    Jealous!!

I would definitely wear or bring something that was pol-able.  For an event such as this I myself would probably look amazing as there will be people all over snapping pictures and do you really want a pic with Alethea or Karol looking like a bum?

Exactly what Rune said.  People think they can just use the pole to control their decent on a shoulder slide but that is not what you should be doing.  It is a slight push into the pole but mostly control with your legs.

Also look for mirrored closet door on craigslist.  I think you can even get new ones from Lowes for under $100.

    Midwest Pole schools:

Not sure how up to date the list is.  I will second what Trixie said, it is so difficult to keep something like this updated.  In the last 3-4 years in NE Ohio there have been at least 5 schools that have closed and at least 4 that have opened.

    Where are you located?

If you look around there are a few people who have stages up for sale right now for about $500.

I personally cannot stand when somebody oohhs and ahhhs at everything I do.  To me it is ego feeding and I cannot take it seriously.  If I ask for your opinion I want honesty and if you ask for mine you had better be ready to get it in return.  I am not going to attack and make you cry in the corner but if you honestly want my opinion then I will honestly give it.  For those who do not know me personally I come off as a royal wench a LOT, but if you have ever had the chance to meet me you know and understand who I am , almost to a fault.

I think they make the distinction of things that are *mostly* cardio, like running, Zumba, biking, etc, as for the most part these will not build muscle.  At least this is how I always separated the two.

I am most stable in elbow grip….yes I know I am weird.  For me the hardest part was finding the distance that my arms needed to be apart in order to get the balance point once I lowered my legs.  I have a short upper body and long legs so my bottom triangle needs to be pretty tight.

Amy did a really good write up about elbow grip ayesha: http://aerialamy.com/blog/2012/05/24/from-the-archives-elbow-grip-ayesha/

Or another way to look at it: If you are doing it with your right hand, wait until your left hip is next to the pole before you reach with your free hand., or vice versa.
