And you can boast that you were tied up by one of the "celebrities".

Lil Mynx has a hot pink pole.  A bar owner I know bought a length of stainless from a custom car shop and used that as a pole.  You could probably easily get that painted at an autobody shop.  Powdercoating would be better but you might need a lower grade of steel in order to powder coat.  Not sure if stainless would hold it.

You should NOT be using your legs to pull yourself up into an invert at all!!  If you are inverting without being able to do the tuck STOP!!!  You will end up hurting yourself!  Go through all of teh inverting threads and blogs.  Read about what people have done to their shoulders and backs from not inverting properly.  I am not being a biotch here, I am trying to keep you from an injury that will take months to heal and will never go away.

Start working on the tuck…hold your hands in baseball grip and pull your knees to your chest and then lower them….SLOWLY AND CONTROLLED.  Once you have that, bring the tilt of the hips into the equation.

Michelle is GORGEOUS….I could get lost in her Come F Me eyes for days!

I am always facinated with people's lives and how they have changed and also how they handle being away from home.  Things that I could not do are always interesting to me to try to understand how they get through.  I have met a few celebrities but have gotten pictures with few.  I would much rather sit around and have a drink with them then get my picture taken.

Did the contest state what they deemed professional and what they deemed amateur?

The old style PS stage was basically a box with a pole stuck through it.  In order to not make it walk you had to put weights or sand bags in the bottom.  On top of that, the pole height was maybe a little over 6'….horrible if you are tall and wearing heels!  There is only one otehr company that I know of that makes a stage and that is R Pole out of the UK but you are looking at a ridiculous price.

This position is kind of difficult for me because of my lack of flexibility in my shoulders.  I can get into the position but I REALLY have to concentrate.  Empy helped me a bit on this and she said that you really need to bring your upper body lower than you would think.  Sticking your butt out would really help with this!

Speaking as a consumer I have tried my best to get out to every studio within an hours drive from me.  I usually like to go out when they are first opening to welcome them and get a feel for their studio.  I camp all over the place during the summer and you never know where the hubs and I will end up on the weekends during the winter.  I think it is important to know who and what is around you, first hand (not hearsay) so that when people see you pole you can let them know where they can learn this awesome sport.  As an instructor I think this has made me better because I have seen a bunch of different styles of teaching so I know what I like and what I don't.

Englann86, VelvetVixen and VDub are down in that area, Luvlee is between Dayton and Cinci and then there are a slew in the Columbus area.  Becca Butcher is going to be teaching workshops in Columbus next week which would be worth the drive.  I believe that it is listed on the events page.  I do know that reservations and payment need to be made no later than tomorrow.  Today is Friday Chat and if you pop in tehre any time during the day you will find peopel from all over the world chatting or video chatting.  It is kind of a fun way to chat in real time with other polers.  Veena is on there regularly too.

I have 2 fairly new students that both have been amazed how quickly they have built strength from poling.  Both could not even hold a pole hold 3 weeks ago and now can.  One of the biggest questions I get is "do I have to be in shape to do this"…that answer is NO.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is thinking that they are going to be a Karol or Alethea within a few months of poling.  unless you have been doing gymnastics of some sort of aerial art that is just not going to happen.  I cannot help you with your inner competitive nature but seeing as you already recognize this in yourself already you just need to learn the steps to take to stop beating yourself up.
