I no longer refer to them as Gemini/Scorpio but inside leg hang or outside leg hang. It is easier for me to remember that way.

I had a chance to try on the Mika Ella top this weekend. I am not big chested but the top is amazing. I will also add that Mary Ellyn also had it on and her chest looked AMAZING in it. It is a bit pricey but seriously worth the cost. I also had on both pairs of side tie shorts and am in love with them.

For cheap tops you cannot beat try the Danskin Now line at Walmart. I also have a few pairs of boyshort undies from various stores that are wonderful.

I was on your pole too!! As was Mary Ellyn and Michelle (they were both showing me moves on it). I even did my aerial flag on it!

As far as I know this is not yet offered in the US and not sure when it will be. Sissy might know.

Chemgodess – I was always intrigued by that name because when I was a teenager I was a raver and the thing to do at Raves was ecstacy and everyone would always say "know your chemist" to refer to knowing where you got the drugs from, when in reality the person we were buying it from didn’t know the chemist, and I’m willing to bet that the person he bought it from didn’t know the chemist!! Wow, the stupid things teenagers do makes me really happy that I am not a teenager anymore!!

Yeah, but I am the geeky lab rat type of chemist.

Did you ever see my pic on FB with the gaping hole on the top of my right foot? I usually get them from climbing and/or sliding down the pole. They usually start out as small blisters and then rip themselves right open. The beat up brass pole that we play on locally is the worst offender. I already had a scar there to begin!

Not sure of others.

Mine was given to me in college. I was a chem major (yes, I am a chemist) and in our study group there was me and one other girl. I became chemgoddess 1 and she became chemgoddess 2, I don’t really remember how the whole silly thing came about. I remember at one point in time she had this really sexy/geeky message on her answering machine.

Can you do this with the bottom hand fingers up? It took me almost 2 years to have the strength to do this move and I hurt my forearm muscles so many times. For me, that bottom hand is not really gripping at all but pushing your body away from the pole. Once you see how much the upper arm is really doing it gets easier. I practiced this not gripping the pole at all with that bottom hand, fingers up like I was pushing open a door.

I still have not "processed" the entire weekend. Not only did I get to meet SOOOOO many people but some of the performances still get me welled up in tears. I hated for the weekend to end.

August 5, 2010 at 5:41 pm in reply to: Pole Dancing Classes for Kids

There is a studio near me in a very quiet town surrounded by Amish that teaches pole, silks, break dancing, juggling and stilts. Their main audience/clientele is kids and they even have summer camps aimed directly at children. Their pole class is called Acro Pole and the studio itself is not your typical female oriented space. They have some pics up on their facebook page of 2 girls that are sitting on the pole that are no more than 7-8 years old.

IF YOU DO NOT MAKE IT "DIRTY" THEN KIDS DO NOT KNOW IT IS.

While on vacation I was practicing at the playground on different types of equipment. The little girls were asking me all sorts of questions on how I could do what I did and even my niece, who is typically very timid, was hanging upside down on the jungle gym. My sister later told me that was the first time she ever did that because usually she is too scared.

The cheapest that I have ever found poles is through Markstaar. Most metal shops are not going to carry 2" stainless pipe so it will need to be special ordered.

August 3, 2010 at 10:08 pm in reply to: Where does powder coating rank in terms of grippiness?

As much as I love my powder coated I would shy away from it. I have ripped skin off my legs on mine on many occasions. Also, there is only a little over 7′ of actual usable pole, the rest is a tube that slides in and out of the top of the pole and is not usable. Many people also have had issues with the top piece eating through their ceiling and the pole coming loose or leaving a huge hole in their ceiling. If you are going directly into wood it is not too bad.

For grippiness brass, titanium gold and chrome seem to be the best.

August 2, 2010 at 1:45 am in reply to: Would you consider this strength training?

I would never consider swimming as strength training, nor would I consider yoga as such. Strength training uses resistance to build strength, endurance and size. If I swim every day I really do not think that I would gain huge muscles nor have I ever seen someone get "huge" from daily yoga.

In pole I never started gaining until I started inverting, and mainly I am pushing/pulling 150 lbs over my head regularly. At some point in time I will stop gaining and probably maintain, unless you take into account different weights of shoes.

I have a nightmare that I am trying to do tricks and my pole either melts into twisted unusable garbage or it keeps falling. Anyone else ever have stupid annoying pole dreams?
Only the ones where I can do things that I know in my right mind I can’t!
