Talk to the instructor one on one and if you do not get any where with her talk to the owner.
BTW, you do not have to take your top all the way off to do scorpio. You can lift the one side and tuck it into your sports bar or just roll it up a bit.

How long are you still in Atlanta? You NEED to get in touch with Sahrit. Not sure if she is teaching anywhere currently but if you are in the area she is so worth meeting! I will try to track down her number and send it to you on FB.

MemberJuly 31, 2012 at 9:17 am in reply to: Platinum Stages Extreme Multipiece Pole Plastic Parts???? SERIOUSLY????All of the PS poles that I have used for the last 4+ years have a plastic dome and a plastic bottom piece. I am not sure how old your original pole is but these have been like this for a long time. I am unsure of what the slider tube is as all of the ones I know of are top loading.
BTW, the chrome will peel off the bottom pieces over time and under heavy use (think studio teaching several classes per day) but I have not seen an issue with the top dome.

I ahve used a few different ones. The one that the studios here have is the yoga direct mat. This is it: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0046A01WM/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=datwomdai-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0046A01WM
Measures 60-Inch in diameter
5-Inch thick
Non-toxic foam with hard wearing PVC
Water resistant
Safe velcro fastening
I found a circular mat by chance a few years back that I use. Prior to that I just purchased two really really really big pillows and prior to that no one used crash mats. When I tried stuff at the studio I just folded up a yoga mat under me. If I were to look from something now I would probably just buy a few patio cushions and velcro them together. Either that or I would buy a papasan cushion and try to do something with that.

Are you 100% sure you want to teach? Is this something you aspired to do or are you just excited that someone asked you?
Have you looked through the threads that I suggested?
I will tell you from experience that teaching will stagnate you unless you actively pursue advancing.
Some good reads from Amy.

BTW, exclusivity clauses are about TEACHING not about training. And if the studio hires you as an independant contractor vs an employee this is not anything they can do (at elast not here in the states).
There are a LOT of important questions you need to ask.

I am trying to find a post from Charley also regarding problems that she had at a studio she was working at. It was earlier this year and I am having difficulties finding it.

I looked into making my own at one point and truthfully once you get materials factored in with time and aggravation it really is cheaper to buy one.
That said, I prefer the round ones but they are difficult to move and store. 3-4" is a good thickness as thicker than that makes some stuff difficult (at least for me) when you really need the ground to push off (think handsprings and cartwheels). Also once you get a certain thickness the vinyl tends to tear at the seams.
Keep an eye on craigslist for gymnastics or karate studios that are selling off their gear.

It depends on the city you are located in and how close the studios really are. We have instructors that teach at a few studios around town and we all visit on another and take classes. I know other cities where it is the same, but I also know some areas where it is very cut throat.
It does not have to be all or nothing. Talk to the studio owner where you are taking classes. She may be excited for you. There is a way to do this with open communication leading the way. It will all come down to the reaction of your home studio.

One thing with straight edge is that the pole is going to be more to the side of your body than straight on like it is with ayesha. In ayesha your torso faces the pole, in straight edge it does not.

Why would you be unable to train with the instructors at your old studio?
Have you read through any of the becoming an instructor threads? Before making a decision I would strongly recommend taking a look. There are a lot of questions you need to ask this new studio.
-
And we love you for being so cheap!

If your shorts ride up or down LEAVE THEM. There is nothing more distracting than someone fidgiting with their costume. I think I did half of my last performance with my top off to the side (nipple coverage to the rescue). Only if your hoo ha is out should you adjust but try to make it subtle. This is another time when garment tape is your friend. A little on the egdes between your legs will keep things in place.
And as odd as this sounds there really is a case for the safety g-string or thong. One, it can keep you from having massive cameltoe and a little too much TMI here but sometimes nervousness can make you excited in ways you would not think and you can end up with a wet spot. If the venue is going to be darkly lit you can get away with a lot but if there are bright lights things can be a little embarassing.
Deodorant can be your enemy. Think about how slick it is and then think about how that would be on your pole.

I have found that Ellies do tend to run wider than Pleasers, at least in the styles I have tried on and own.
-
They have also been posting to their facebook account so you may want to try that avenue

It does not appear that they are a member here any longer.
