Spring break is typically a week and for college students it is usually a week of drunken stupidness in some place warm.  Used to be Daytona, then it moved to Panama City, and I am not sure of the hot spot now.  It kind of comes down to needing some sort of break duting the semester.  In fall we have a day for Labor Day, a few days for Thanksgiving and then typically a week or more for Christmas.  There is nothing in the spring, so we have our dreariest months punctuated with no days off.  Also once the weather starts to warm people get "spring fever" and cutting classes on nice days seems like a good idea.

Last years Spring Break theme was cute so maybe something along that line?  Songs with beaches or islands or warm places in the lyrics?

Special K is also known as a butterfly……not sure where the double naming came in.

It looks like an over extended Ooona split.  If you watch any of Oona's video's you can see how she gets into her signature move.

Do you know the cause of the dry, rough and cracked heels?  Some times things like this are caused by a fungus.  Coconut oil works wonders for things like this, as well as foot soaks in either listerine or a dilute cider vinegar solution.  Coconut oil has antibacterial properties as well as serving as a moisturizer.  Other things like gold bond lotion might be an option.

So this is my story.  Many moons ago when I worked at a pharmaceutical company one of the big things was to go to lunch at the strip club.  They had a $5 buffet and the food was pretty good.  Very few women went because they were too uptight to go to a strip club, but there were a few of us that did.  Most of teh time the girls working during the day weere nothing to write home about.  I distinctly remember this one woman…and I call her a woman because she at least doubled the age of the rest that wre working that day.  Again, not much to look at but she got on stage and worked it…I mean, WORKED it.  She did some aerial stuff and I remember her using the side rails to do push ups or some sorts of craziness.  It was the coolest thing I ever saw.  This was a good 16-17 years ago.

Fast forward to 2007.  I had to travel to Holland for business and my husband came with me.  We spent some extra time outside of my training which included a few days in Amsterdam and also going to a few clubs.  It seemed like every club we went to had a pole but not once did I see anyone using them.  I so wanted to play but I knew nothing about pole dancing and I was not about to make a fool of myself.  Once back in the states I started trying to find info about about learning.  At that time the only thing that was well known was S Factor.  I had also called many of the strip clubs to see if tehre was anything but there was nothing.  A club I go to locally installed a pole and they knew of someone and told me if I could get a total of 10 girls they would have this lady come in and teach.  I got the girls but unfortunately the owners of the club had a death in theri family so that fell through.  I was too impatient.  I was looking at getting a (peek a boo) then realized that I could get a semi decent pole for about another $70.  I bid and won a pole off ebay.  After paying the seller totally disappeard off the planet.  I filed a dispute and set about getting another pole.  Just as I won another pole the seller of the original reappeared and told me they had shipped the pole, providing the tracking info.  I tried getting in contact with the second seller and lo and behold she had also shipped the pole.  So here I was with 2 used Lil Mynx poles on their way.  I ended up keeping the hot pink one and selling the black one to a friend.

December 10, 2007 she was UP!  I borrowed the S Factor book from the library and set about trying to follow what was on the pages.  I ended up buying the first video and then all 3.  The only other things out there I could find was PoleCats (Shawn Francis Lee) and Pantera.  I was also involved on the S Factor forum and was taking in every bit of info I could.

I ended up finding a studio in Cleveland but the first time I was supposed to go out we had a bad snow storm so that killed that trip.  In the mean time I had to go to Bryan Texas for business and took 3 back to back classes at S Factor Houston…that was about April.  By this time I was already inverting and trying laybacks on my own.  I had CKR down and learned CAR and ankle hold while I was there, not to mention doing a little lap dancing and just soaking in all of the lushness that S Factor studios offer.  This was also the first time I had gotten to dance with other women and really feel the love "in person" that this community provides.  That totally sealed my fate.

On top of a foam roller, a tennis ball and a wall works wonders for getting those little buggars that like to hide around your shoulder blade that you cannot get with a foam roller.

Alright…that did not paste right.  Might have some issues with the imbedding of the pole moves. See if this one works:

Pink, have you actually looked at the majority of pole dancers?  NONE of them have waists.

Seriously look at Alethea, Karol, Zoraya, Becca Butcher, Jenyne, Felix.  NONE of them have that hourglass figure.  Not a one.

This is a pretty good photo album from the 2010 Miss Pole Dance Australia.  Look through it and really look at the lack of "waists".

NYC, I will give you my input on Liquid Grip as I was the first to mention it.  Itac does not work on my hands, it actually makes them sweat more.  I have not tried it on other body parts.  Dry Hands works a bit for me but lasts only a very short time.  I do no suffer with extensively sweaty hands…if anything my hands are cold on a regular basis.  Liquid Grip is very different than anything I have tried before.  Ingredient list is alcohol, magnesium carbonate, thickener, fragrance.  I can't quite pinpoint the fragrance but it is not overpowering or horrible (it kind of reminds me of play doh).  A little bit goes a long way.  It really dries my hands and STAYS.  Even the stuff that I distribute to friends (what Luvlee was speaking of) does not have the lasting power that this does.  It also creates a little bit of tackiness.  Magnesium carbonate is what is in weightlifters chalk.  It is a desiccant (think the little packets that some with shoes an such).  Dry Hands uses a silica based desiccant, Liquid Grip is a magnesium based one.  Also to note, magnesium carbonate is a food additive used to keep powders flowing.

When it is done and said, you can pick up a small bottle of it on Bodybuilding.com for $4.99 or you can see if your local Vitamin Shoppe has it at the store for $7.99.  Either way it is a small expense to try it out.

I have never heard of a bronze pole.

Platinum Stages has a removeable brass pole and XPole is coming out with one this year I believe.

I remember the first time I did a pole workout which was mainly slow controlled stretches.  It did not bother me while I was doing them but I think I was on the couch for 4 days following it.  I could barely MOVE.  Just wait…your body will soon adapt and then on days that you don't work out your body will ache!

Lindsy…have you tried Zumba?  It really depends on your instructor so don't let one experience skew your thoughts on it.  I was lucky to have an awesome instructor and it was easy going to class.  She has moved to another locations and I am now taking a Cardio Hip Hop class that also incorporated toning (lunges, push ups, squates, etc) and I like this a lot too.  For me, I have to be in a group setting for cardio.  The energy of the room keeps me going and coming back.  I HATE cardio and this has been the onely thing that I have been abelt to stick with for any length of time (a little over a year).

    Welcome to the shoe destruction.

None of the sites will state that the shoes are made for pole dancing and none of the companies will back their shoes if you use them to pole.  This is an ongoing dilemma for pole dancers and just something we kind of "deal" with.  Basically they are designed for you to strut around in and take pictures and that is it.

I have very little waist but that is my body type.  Having a small chest does not help matters, either.  For me developing my lats and back has helped to make it appear that I have more of a waist than I do.  You know that V shape that men strive for…same thing goes here.  What has really made that has been a lot of upside down work.  I would check out the Oxygen site for exercises that will help you develop that V.

And that is not even the correct link…

This was lit with a 12" black light in my spa room and it was not dark out.  I also covered a belt and a pair of earrings with the tape and made myself a bracelet with it too.

Acrylic paint will not stay on the clear shoes…it is water based.  Nail polish however will but you will not be able to get it opff without destroying the plastic underneath.

I was just about to type what Nymph stated.  They are intentionally made this way because the plactic STRETCHES.

On a side note….Duck Tape comes in all sorts of neon colors.  I oranged out the bottoms of my boots recently for a black light party we went to.  It only lasted the night as I scuffed them up pretty good dancing but it was $5 a roll + 30 minutes of my time.

If they are actually performing ACRO POLE then I would not trust any removable pole…period.  I have seen Pantera and also Mattcrobat move PS poles on some of their spins.  I doubt highly that it would be much different on an XPole….they a similar in design.

Yeah, I thought the same Amy.  It is not like any other grip aid that I have tried and it seems to last really long.  I do not have super sweaty hands but I do have issues sometimes.  I was surprised when I woke up the next day and could still feel it on my hands.

I also just found new stuff at The Arnold a few weeks back called Liquid Grip.  It is similar to chalk but not as messy.
