Ummm…I thought that ME changed some of the requirements of having to go to Chicago.

I have heard nothing buty good things about the ETED course as it also has a lot of business aspects to it.  You really need to find out specically what it is you want out of the certification.

I have not been on 2 stainless poles (manufacturers) that have been the same so I cannot say that.  The PS poles at Be I always hated during the winter because I had no grip whatsoever, during the summer it was not as bad. I don't know what the finish is like on the X stainless.

How long was the pole in your house before you tried using it?

I have slipped off of brass….Amy's workshops were rough because we were all slipping off of them!

In my experience brass and titanium tend to cool off faster than chrome.  Stainless is finicky…it takes me a really long time to warm it up but once it is there it stays "in the zone" longer.  I get frustrated quickly though with stainless during the winter.  Now I am talking PS stainless.  I have heard that Poledanzer stainless is very different, and I had no problems with a home made stainless pole that was at a bar.

I am going back to play on stainless tonight so I will let you know if additional years of pole have changed my experiences with it.

It is a balancing act.  If poling is making you feel that bad about yourself why would you continue?  If it is a case of frustration because you lost what you had then working through that will make the successes that much more rewarding.  Only you can answer this.  Maybe right now just is not the time for you to come back.  Or maybe you need the dance and not the tricks.

Liz, I remember reading somewhere about the problems that you had with opening the studio and your xpoles and  you stated that you had to get permission from your landlord about special mounts or something you were going to do to the ceiling to be able to put your PS poles up.  This is where that comment came from.

Looks like it contains 20% Aluminum Chloride (alumimium is how the Brits spell aluminum).  I think the max over the counter stuff in the US is 20 aluminum zirconium trichlorhydrex (or tetrachlorhydrex) gly.  Basically the tri or tetra means there are 3 or 4  chloride groups in the structure.

There were other issues with the XPoles that Lizzy had installed.  When PS came in they built special mounts for her ceiling which she did not have for her X's.  She was trying to use the standard X pole on a recessed ceiling.  I don't know much about recessed ceilings but I do not think the recessed part has a joist behind it.

I know that XPole usually ships very quickly unless the pole is out of stock.  I did not order one so I did not get the whole confirmation of payment thingy when I got mine (it was won in a compettion), but I think I had it within a week of calling them.

I do not think that XPole will even sell a pole for that height.  When you are talking about something that tall you need to have it reinforced or it wll bend on you.

Don't you need momentum to get from flag to SM?  I would think the only way you could have that momentum is to use the energy from the downward drop.  I don't see how you would be able to get from flag to a shoulder mount without a "pop".

Sensual, I was bowling today for the first time in about a year and realized I had a product in my bag…..it is called Power Slide.  It is made for when your hands get sweaty and stick in the holes of your ball.  A little goes  LONG way.  Might be a cheap thing for you to check out.

No need to be sorry!  The link I put in is a good starter.

If you put "grip aids" into the search bar you should get plenty of reading material.

I know there are quite a few that love tite grip (englann86 has a few posts on here regarding it) for awesty hands.  She will layer it up to 8 times (I think she said).

There are some other threads around regarding using multiple grip aids.  I was just at a performance this past weekend and the pole girls had multiple aids with them just beacuse they did not know what the temp was going to be at the hall.

I hate to say this but there really is a lot of information here regarding all of the different grip aids if you just do a quick search.

Aerial Amy also had a blog that is really good: http://aerialamy.com/blog/grip-aids/

Not to hijack this but along these lines….where I work is very restrictive on all fronts.  I cannot call one of the manufacturers toll free numbers because it has "976" in it.

Grip is the #1 problem for beginners…you either don't have enough or you have too much.  4 weeks is probably what, 4 classes?  The only thing I can say is that it does get better.

Seeing as you said you went from too little to too much I would say it is definitely just getting used to holding your own weight.  Room temp, humidity, types of lotions you use, even fabric softener on your clothing can all have an effect on your ability to hold on.  My one friend will not even wear deodorant when she performs because of the moisturizers in deodorant that will mess up armpit holds or wipe off on the pole.

I was thinking that it would turn into the ugliness that has reared its head here (and on facebook) on numerous occasions.  I saw that as "things manufacturers say", not as "things that get said to manufacturers".

Pretty much all poles made for home use are easy to install, much more so with the bottom loading systems.  You will need a level and a stud finder.  Stucco should not be an issue.

I really do not think that is a good idea as it could turn very ugly very fast.  There are facebook groups called Peace and Pole dedicated to pole studios getting along, I really think the manufacturers should adopt this also.

Luvlee, street clothes are what you throw on to go out shopping or to work, not the fancy stuff you wear to go out dancing all night.
