MemberFebruary 13, 2012 at 11:31 am in reply to: New to pole Dancing- Best Pole to buy??There is not one "best pole". There are several manufacturers that all have pros and cons. I am not sure where you are located but the big names in teh US are Lil Mynx, XPole and Platinum Stages.
First you need to decide on material and width of your pole, then the rest is a matter of preference.
I will say that lots of polers on here have XPole just because of their ability to adapt to any ceiling height. If you rent or may be moving in the near future, or even if you just want to take it to a friends house you are able to easily with an X.

Yeah, that was what I was implying. A mild acid solution (vinegar or citric acid) helps in cleaning the tarnish off brass but can make matters worse if indeed you have dezincification.
-
Forget using vinegar….it may possibly make the problem worse.
-
I would contact Erica right away. I looked up red rot and if this is indeed that you are screwed. I have never seen this but then again, I am not a huge fan of brass poles. I cannot even begin to think how this would have happened (plus the location is odd).
You can try mixing equal parts salt and flour then adding vinegar to make a paste and using this on your pole.
(Thanks Trixie)
Again, call Erica ASAP and get this taken care of NOW. You have not had this pole that long.

There is a new group on facebook called "Overheard in Pole Class". Request entrance by going to this page (but only if you have time to waste and are not eating/drinking next to your computer). Some pretty funny stuff!!

Tube Release Tool (2X)
FOR ORIGINAL THREADED X-POLES ONLY
Specially designed for the tightening and release of X-Pole tubes these release tools are used by schools and professional teachers.
The C cup goes around the pole and is held securely in place by a steel pin which goes through the pole tube. With its extended handle length increased pressure can be applied to the tube releasing it without damage.
The release tools are supplied in pairs and are especially ideal for solo teachers and people putting up and removing dance poles on their own.
The C-Cup Release Tools can be used with any 50mm (2") or 45mm (1.75”) pole that has tube release holes.
**** These tools will not work with the new X-Perts/Sport poles. ****
Model: XP050-5003

Ugh, sorry, not sure why not. It is the C cup release tools you are looking for

LM has a vaulted ceiling adapter that you can purchase.

Here is an old thread (Empy has good advice here)

There is NOTHING that will remove a powder coating. The process is similar to car paint. I used acetone on mine to get black scuff marks off it all the time.
Luvlee…when you take it down, clean the threads and then I would suggest using a silicone grease or antiseize grease on the threads before putting it back up. If it has not been taken apart you may have issues getting it apart and may have to purchase the heavy duty release tools:

I do not know where you live so this may or may not help:
Stripped X locking set screw. This is the set screw that keeps the pole locked into the stage. I am not really sure how you strip stainless but we manageed to do it….twice. I have an idea on how this happened and it comes down to being in a rush to set up/take down poles and not having the hex key in all the way. M8x8 is the set screw that you need to replace them. The ones that XPoles uses have an oval bottom….I have been unsuccessful in finding those (and those that know me and my searching capabilities, seriously, these things are next to impossible to find). The standard cone bottom will work just fine. Lowes and Home Depot do not carry metric set screws. I ended up at a little ACE Hardware store. Also, The Grabit Broken Bolt and Screw Extractor, size 2 is what you will want/need to get this screw out. I tried a few different styles and this one by far is the best in this situation. I got mine at Lowes for about $8. http://www.lowes.com/pd_51624-41877-8502P_0__?productId=1209143&Ntt=grabit+screw+extractor&pl=1¤tURL=%2Fpl__0__s%3FNtt%3Dgrabit%2Bscrew%2Bextractor&facetInfo=

I was back on the stainless Monday night and did not have any issues however the studio was warm and there was a class right before we got there. I was on one of the 45s most of the night and ouchies!

So jealous!! Now if both heand Eike were there I would be really green with envy!

I have always loved Karols side climb…I think it is because she gets her legs so far apart when she climbs.
The side climb starts about 3:40ish

This thread may help:
https://www.studioveena.com/forums/view/Vaseline_2009-06-04_220113 (Charley's comment almost near the bottom).
You may also want to contact Erica at PS and see if she has any advice.

MemberFebruary 8, 2012 at 7:34 am in reply to: Beginner: Having so much trouble spinningYAY!!! Some times your mind just has to process a move before you can execute it.
-
When I do this move I use a "piece of property" right behind my hip bone and at the top of my butt. People who have more flexy to their back and arms can use more of the top of their butt, hence putting them in front of the pole. This way if you have flexy hip flexors you can also get the legs higher in the air.

Spins on spin mode and spins on static are two totally different creatures. Veena nailed it….you were probably over gripping due to being used to doing that on spin mode and then torqued your wrists.

Hope this thread helps:
