I have and it was.  If you have taken a pilates class you may be fine, but it is nothing like pole.  I will also state that I was not impressed, but it probably had more to do with my instructor than the actual class.  The feeling in the room was SOOOOO not like a pole class.  I walked out of there and promptly texted a few of my pole girls saying I wanted to have a bunch of us in class in booty shorts talking like we do in a pole class and just freak everyone out.

No, they come off (they will not fit in the channel if left on).  How far are they lifting up?  There really is barely enough room to get them to fit in the first place (at least this has been my experience).

I have not experienced glycerine drying out my skin, but then again, I do not live in a very dry climate.  I have had more issues with body washes drying my skin than I ever did with any lotion.  Since I switched to hand made soaps I have not had the horrible dry patches I used to get.  This is one of my things I "collect" now.  Whenever we travel if tehre is someone who is selling soap I typically pick up some.  This past weekend I got a milk based peppermint soap from the tree farm where we stalked and killed our christmas tree.

The biggest thing anyone can do is to stay properly hydrated.  During the summer I have no problem drinking enough water but during the winter grabbing a glass of ice water just is not my #1 beverage of choice.

NO, they should NOT tip.  There are 3 things that need to happen with the pie pieces.  First, the narrow end needs to slide a little under the collar.  There is a small space there but they will fit.  Second, there are pegs that the pie piece sit on on the ends of the spines.  Lastly, there are locking pins on the bottom edges of each edge of the pie pieces that pull and then twist to lock the pie pieces onto the base.  These sometimes only line up with one particular plate so you may need to move them around to find the perfect positioning and then mark each pie plate as to where it goes.

GeorgiaMarie, the lites and the original are exactly the same with the exception of the height (and the skirt).

Again, hair and skin are TOTALLY different.  Pore size first off is different, cell structure, living vs dead.  You cannot say just because something does not work on your hair that it will not work on your skin.

RoseMay, I think you may be misunderstanding a little.  I am using this as an example because thyis is when I see it the most, but when people invert the first few hundred times you can actually see them thinking through all of the motions…place my hands, hips in front, squeeze, crunch…etc.  Quite honestly when I invert any more my body just takes over.  Am I aware if my grip is secure, if my shoes are too heavy? Of course I am, but I am not thinking about crunching my abs and tilting back.  Because of this I can pretty much invert on ANYTHING: ropes, trees, jungle gyms, parallel bars….  If I did not have the muscle control completely mastered each of these different apparatus (apparati??) would cause me issues.

The first time is a pain but you learn.  I am not sure about the 10 minutes thing but definitely can be done in 20.  As for the pie pieces, if jiggling a little does not make them tighter together and the pieces sit in their holes and the pins lock into place you are good.

For setting up in the futire, if you look at the base one of the spines will have a hex screw near the center; this is the only piece that does not move at all.  If you align the other spines with that in mind it makes things easier.  ALSO, there are two parts of the spine that move which need to be lined up before putting the pie piece in.

There is a link a few posts above that discusses a bunch of different lotions.

    Skin is not hair.

I use glycerine based moisturizers year round.

"I also consider mastering something to be a move that you could still do even if you were off the pole for more than a month. Like riding a bike."

Until you realize that after a month things like knee hold begin to hurt again!

I guess if I can consistantly get my body positioned into a move then I would consider me "getting" it.  If I have not done it for some time it may take a little remembering balance points but usually after a try or two I can get into the move.  Now something like a lifted iguana mount I will consider myself always having even if my shoulders are not co-operating.  When they are happy and loose it is a non-issue for me.  But ONLY when they are happy and loose.  There are times when I cannot even get my hands to the pole because they are so tight and jacked up.  Ugh…age.

I do not consider a move "mastered" until I can do it without thinking.

Glycerine based lotions are okay, oil/shea butter are not.  Not all lotions are created equal!

Yes and with time it will go away.  This is just one of the things we learn to bear when it comes to pole.

At only 2 classes in it probably is not an issue of your thighs being too flabby, it is probably an issue of not having the proper technique.  Stand up and place your feet next to each other.  Now roll your knees toward one another so that they touch.  This is the same kind of movement you need for pretty much any position that requires your thighs as the only hold.

I have big gaps in my legs and the only way I can close those gaps is to roll my legs inward.  Try it.

Oh, and there should be a little rolling of the skin too to help with that grip.  This is what generally makes sits so painful in the beginning.
