Silks are then ends hanging down and you need a minimum of at least 12 foot, if not higher, ceilings.  A hammock is the ends at the ceiling and you can get away with only an 8 foot ceiling.  I would NOT consider silks at home unless you have proper instruction.

I think for most they have no choice in their instructor and quite honestly, most new students are going to choose price and convenience over any other factor.  While I agree wholheartedly that it is very important for beginners to be taught properly from the get go, I do not think that this is even a coinsideration when student first start.  I would say that most new students want to know how much money they have to spend before they can go upside down and do cool stuff.

NOW I have very different things that I look for.  If every single one of your instructors is 20 something and look like they don't know a thing about proper nutrition I am probably going to pass your studio up.  I am looking for years of experience, probably 3 or over, and experience from several instructors.  I don't really care if you perform/compete/etc.  I also look for those that are still actively "in the game".  If I mention an allegra or a fonji and you have absolutely no clue as to what I am talking about then you are not current.

After I step through the door starts another whole new interview process and this one is a little harder for me to nail down.  There are things I am willing to overlook and things I will not.  Anything taught in a way that I feel is unsafe or if I am not given any sort of modification is a blackish mark.  Depending on how far you take it or how pissed off you get if I do not do something your way darkens or lightens the mark.  If you are constantly imjured or pissed off at the world, black marks (I understand bad days/weeks and the occasional injury).  I am also getting to the point where I like progressional classes and I really like instructors spending time on strength exercises and proper cool downs/stretches.  Above all else though is a comfortable feeling in the class, and this is 100% based on the instructor.

Webby, you would have a blast at The Arnold with me.  Have you seen the alkaline water systems that sell for thousands of dollars?  Yeah, I ahve fun with those people.  Just like the ones who are selling oral HGH.   https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_geek.gif

There are 2 possibilities, but you said that you already unscrewed the 3 screws that lock it into place.  The only other thing that I can think of is that you have put it into spin mode and are trying to remove it without setting it back into static.

    What part of Chicago?

Here is a list of Illinois schools.  It all depends on if she is downtown or if she is in the suburbs. Of course I would strongly suggest Empowerment Through Exotic Dance.

I have friends who have called someone from the bathroom asking them to call them back in 5 minutes and act like it is an emergency to get out of a date.  But that is a whole other topic.

I have been the contact person not only for friends who do teach (at other people's homes) but also for first dates.

Most of his theories on this have been debunked by peer review.

When the studio that I taught at closed and my students were bummed my husband wanted me to teach out of the house, mainly because he knew how upset I was for leaving my students and also that he knew I really enjoyed it.  We actually got into a little bit of an argument over it because I was trying to tell him excatly what I had learned here and in an instructor forum; he thought I was looking for an easy out.

If you do go forth, make sure that you have someone who knows where you are going and when you are supposed to be done and if you do not check in they are to alert the police if they cannot reach you.

Madison, you came here and asked for advice.  I am sorry that you are not hearing what you wanted to hear.  Charley has been an instructor for as long as I can remember.  She runs a huge showcase every year and is organizing a division of the Midwest comp.  She knows a little bit about the business of pole.  Many of us have been around the forums for several years and are just sharing our knowledge.

Be thankful and do not push yourself.  TG is a sore subject in much of the pole world.  If you cannot properly do a regular handspring you should not even be attempting this move.  And it should NEVER be kicked up into.
