Are you talking about the v invert? take your time with that one, it requires a great deal of strength…but you can do prep exercises over the next few weeks that will get you ready for the v invert-pole hold, knee tucks, pole pull ups those are just a few…there are others within Veena’s conditioning & strength lessons.

You get into a CAR from a plank & CKR from a pole sit. So you should be able to plank well & be able to hold a pole sit with ease before attempting.

And you can get into Gemini & Scorpio from a basic invert, you don’t need to v invert. Start learning both those from the floor though, until you are confident & sure in your point of contact placement, then give it a try (low) on the pole. HTH!

I’m advanced but nowhere near your level of advanced yet but maybe look into getting privates in your home or at a local studio. Or make a point to travel a few times a year & get to some pole expos or just to get to workshops or visit studios that offer more extremely advanced workshops.

Update: I now don't have trouble with my daughter being underfoot as much. I think it's because she's matured a little bit in the last year. Sure, she still bounces in during my pole sessions here and there but it definitely isn't as bad as it was last year, where she literally would camp out under my pole and/or want me to hold her. I think the age of the child is definitely a factor…under 5 year olds seem crave more of a mommy's time and attention. My husband has also been more helpful in keeping the kids out of the way while I pole 🙂 I've definitely been able to progress better without my daughter under foot as much!

Veena has routines/combos in the lessons that you could learn & string together into a routine 🙂

I went to a studio for awhile + had Veena’s lessons. For me, Veena’s lessons were a great supplement to my studio lessons because they allowed me to work on what I learned in the studio with Veena’s lessons guidance (because sometimes by the time I got home, I wouldn’t remember how to get into a move that I learned in the studio). Also alot of times Veena’s lessons showed me ways to get &/or out of a move that wasn’t shown to me in studio classes, which I found really helpful.

In the past & for the last several months however, I have also been solely a SV student & that has been great as well because her lessons are through & detailed enough where you will progress if just learning from her lessons alone & not going to a studio. It’s all a matter of preference & learning style really…some do well doing studio + Veena’s lessons, while others do well just taking Veena’s lessons. You’ll just have to explore until you figure out the best learning outlet for you. Happy poling!

You might have an older version of the xpole. Can you take a video of the pole pieces & post it here? that might help us here help you identify it. But your best bet is probably to call xpole tomorrow, they should be able to help you.

Sounds like an xpole xpert. Google how to install your xpole. Look for the vid that is by xpole us. You can also go to xpoles website & call them & they can probably email you install instructions.

Oh and sliding is also typical with new poles. Try steaming it with a clothes steamer that will help. It takes some time for a new pole to be broken in a little and not be so slippery too 😉

I LOVE your enthusiasm, passion and determination but I think you are trying to move too fast too soon. Slow down girlie. Inverts take more strength. You could be sliding for many reasons–not able to do & hold because lack of strength, not properly warmed up (body and pole), not getting into move properly/correctly. Take a step back from the basic invert for a little bit until you get a chance to build up your strength more…work on building up your strength, flexibility conditioning, spins, flow, transitions, floorwork and beginner moves right now, just try to slow down a tad and enjoy your pole journey, don't try to rush it 😉

It happens a lot…Even to the pros, so don’t be so hard on yourself. You can only go out there & do your best. When mistakes happen you just have to brush yourself off & get back up and keep going.

@Danielle thank you for being so vunerable and sharing your vid. I was deeply touched by it & inspired me to remember to keep going even when things don’t go as planned.

I love these so much! Super cute! How would a custom order work? We would just tell you 2-3 colors we want the warmers made out of & then you make em?

If you go to a local studio ask the owner or other students if they know anyone or if they are selling a used pole. Also I second craigslist just be really careful to make sure it is a legit pole before purchasing it.

Peekaboo, Carmen Electra poles or other similar "novelty" poles that are sold in party shops and adult stores are to be stayed far away from, do not buy at any cost! If you can wait it out until you can get enough $$$ together to get a SV pole, lil mynx or Xpole that will be the better option in the long run. I have had my Xpole 3 years and it is still going strong. The extra monetary commitment in the beginning is worth it to have a pole that will last you years.

Even though my friends and family know I pole, most are supportive, some are not… I still keep it private for the most part and off my social media pages, not because I am ashamed of pole but because I just want to avoid the drama.

On my FB and Twitter, I don't post vids or pics of myself poling and I rarely post anything even about my pole practices. However, I do have alot of pole friends and like alot of pole related stories and vids.

What alot of pole gals do is create a separate FB, Twitter etc that is used to just strictly to talk pole, share their pole adventures, post vids, pics etc. I actually just created a whole separate CalipolePixie FB, Twitter, email yesterday but I don't plan on sharing my Calipolepixie FB or Twitter info with any family or friends, it's just strictly for my pole friends. You could always create a Vkissme FB, Twitter, email 🙂

I have entered a few ameature contests before & never will again so I wouldn’t recommend it either because large majority of those ameature nights are fixed contests…they are usually strippers from other clubs or house dancers who enter the contest & win. Ameatures don’t have a true shot at winning because of that set up.

Steph has a good idea about finding a pole studio & attending open pole a couple times a month or you could find a local pole buddy to pole jam with. Polexia.com forum has a pole pals thread where you can post that you are looking for a pole buddy in your area. Also Skype jams with ladies here are alot if fun and great motivation as well 🙂

  • Oh & sign up for Veena’s lessons if you haven’t already. Start with the beginner lessons…they go in order, so you build pole strength as you learn.

  • Welcome to studio veena! You absolutely can only do pole 1-2x a week and still benefit! I do Zumba too & love it!

Luvlee, you've got the right things in mind to pack. I second the bringing a couple of pairs of regular heels and 2-3 cocktail dresses/going out outfits. For Bob, bring a few nice button up dress shirts, slacks and dress shoes. Vegas clubs are very strict about dress codes…

Palms is a really great hotel actually, it is one of my faves in Vegas (second fave is Venetian) it's just a really happening hotel, with great dance clubs and overall vibe…if you guys can afford to stay there I would. I also really love Palms Place, which is part of the Palms but they are studio apartment style, quiet, roomy and very nice.

Cabs can get pricey for getting around Vegas, so I wouldn't suggest staying on the strip unless you have a car/will be renting a car in Vegas. It might be worth while to all pitch in and rent a car whether you decide to stay at Palms or elsewhere because if you have never been to Vegas, there is so much to see and do and a car will make getting around to see everything so much easier!

If you do decide to stay on the Strip, some great hotels are Treasure Island, Mandalay Bay, Venetian, Planet Hollywood, Cosmopolitian, New York, NY and MGM grand.

Now if you are looking for economy and clean and comfortable rooms on the strip check out Bally's, Tropicana or Harrahs.

As webby mentioned, downtown Vegas is cool and fun especially at night…I would suggest the Golden Nugget hotel if you choose to stay downtown, as Golden Nugget is the nicest hotel out of all the downtown Vegas hotels and has a killer pool. HTH!
