I’m on second floor in a 3 floor building never had any complaints but I pole barefoot on carpeted floors. My popcorn ceiling has a lil popcorn missing where my xpole dome goes but you have to stare to notice it. I take my pole down when the landlord has to come in usually though.

Not to work no. But the funny thing is platforms & stilettos used to be my dress up shoes in the 90’s, I never wore heels just platforms or stilettos lol.

Nowadays, I consider platforms/stilettos sacred to poling…They are now my sexy poling shoes.

I’d say get a titanium gold 40 or 45 mm since you’re petite & have small hands

Ok cool I commend you for at least asking a lawyer it never hurts to find out your options. Sucks that it happened I know how crappy it is but just hold your head up & move on karma is a bitch…bad people never get away with hurting good people. xxoo

Sign up for veenas lessons! Sign up now before you get your pole as there are stretching, conditioning & floor work things in the beginning lessons that you can work on now before your pole arrives. Best thing about veenas lessons is they go in sequential order, so you can always be sure you are learning is right for your skill level & it also allows you to build strength as you move through each lesson.

I think you should def see what a lawyer says and then go from there. If you find a lawyer who can help you & thinks you could definitely win without a doubt, then I say pursue a lawsuit. It’s worth it to prevent someone else from having to go through what you did & it will make the company take reprimanding employees who are bullying more seriously in the future because they dont want to get sued over & over.

I suffered from bullying at my past job from other managers as well, they were all buddies & protected each other too. My husband kept telling me to document the incidents more consistently (& the incidents I did go to my boss &/or HR about, somehow they turned it on me & made it my fault or brushed it under the rug, so eventually I gave up fighting & just took the bs) & get legal counsel but I didn’t listen, wish I had.

I was one of the most loyal, honest, never late, rarely called in sick or took vacations, NEVER abused the company credit card or $ (other managers did), first one in office, last one to leave office, i was without a doubt one of the very few of the hardest working employees there. I ended up getting laid off from there but the bullies who have been lying & stealing from the company for years are still there?!? So assed backwards. I was & still am a little peeved about it but at the same time, I realized that it really was a blessing in disguise, I was super unhappy there.

Sure, I haven’t found another job(it’s been a year since I was laid off!) but it’s been the most liberating, humbling, eye opening experience & everything happens for a reason.

The company is not doing well financially (hasn’t been for the last few years) & a couple people whom I still talk to there say things have gotten worse financially since i was laid off & they would be highly surprised if the company makes it another 2 years.

Hang in there & be strong, if you want to talk, inbox me I’m here for you.

How tall are you? Do you have small hands? What level are you at in poling? Do you have any nickle or other metal allergies? Where do you live? Is it dry or humid climate? These are all things to consider when picking a pole. However, Titanium gold seems to be the overall preferred choice right now for dry or humid climates & 45mm is a good diameter. I have a chrome 50mm & haven’t been happy with it the 3 yrs i’ve had it. I have a love/hate relationship with my chrome pole (mostly hate lol). I plan on buying a TG 45mm ASAP.

I’ve always had nice long & lean legs but I’ve gotten a lot of comments about how strong & gorgeous my legs are ever since I’ve started poling 🙂

That sucks about the delay in getting your pole! You should def use this time waiting building your upper body & core strength, flexibility & floor work. That way, when you do get your pole you can get right to work on pole moves!

Pull ups (using pull up bar), push ups, plank holds and light weight training for arm strength and sit ups, rowing crunches, bicycle sit ups and other core exercises for your abs. Pilates and yoga are also good for building core strength and stamina.

@kate92 I don't think so…see, I've come to realize that my fear over the head/hand/elbow stands is me fearing that my arms, wrists and shoulders are not strong enough to hold my body weight and that they will give out/collapse trying to hold myself up like that.

Now when you invert, its all about your leg lock/hold and various leg contact points once you get upside down. I've come to realize that I have more faith in my leg strength and leg POC's, than I do in my arms. This I believe is also another reason why I think that I also struggle with split grip and elbow grip moves…it all  goes back to my lack of confidence in my arms, wrist and shoulder strength. This I am working toward over coming though by working more on building strength in those portions of my body that I don't have faith in.

Again also, time and practice is also a factor…the more/longer you pole, the more comfortable and confident you will become…

Wanted to add that just because you are struggling with head/hand/elbow stands doesn’t mean you won’t be able to do inverts…I was nervous about inverts at first but around 3-4 months into poling, I braved my first invert. Sure, the first few tries were scary but then I never looked back 🙂

Dont be so hard on yourself…one day you will do them & if you dont ever feel comfortable enough, there are other ways to get in & out moves on the pole.

I have been poling 3 yrs & still can’t do head/hand or elbow stands, they freak me out. I have tried them a few times but have put them on the back burner for now. I took a class w/a pole legend a cpl months ago & she was trying to get me to elbow stand & I told her I was scared & struggled doing them & she said it was ok & that she didn’t/couldn’t climb for the first 3 years she poled! We all learn at our own pace & something’s will come easy to us & others will take more time, courage & practice to get & that’s ok.

I am working on building my strength back too as I have not practiced at home or been to a studio in awhile myself…Fluidity, pop physique, daily pull ups, sit ups, push ups & various plank hold exercises. Also working on controlled elbow & handstands really works your core.

  • I too am interested in xpert teacher training in the los angeles area in 2013 but haven’t gotten a response from xpole or Lauren on the subject. Any insight? Thanks!

We live in a small 2 bedroom apt, so mine is smack dab in the middle of the living/dining room area. We are looking into buying a house this summer and I REALLY want a 5 bedroom house, so I can have a dedicated pole room inside the house but due to finances we may not be able to get as big a house as planned, so I have already decided that I will take over the garage lol. We live in California, so the weather won't be too harsh on the cars outside, my pole room is more important lol. I plan on totally putting down pole friendly flooring, large mirrors, ballet barre etc and maybe use the other half of the garage as a workout area. Can't wait to have my pole/dance room!

Hi there and welcome to studio veena! I'm also 41, I have 3 kiddos 20, 8 and 4 years old 🙂

I have been poling on and off for 3 years (but my goal for 2013 is to be more on than off) and LOVE it! The dizziness in the beginning is very normal. It will take a couple of weeks to get used to doing spins on the pole. The best remedy for dizziness is doing a spin, then do a couple of pole pose moves, dancing or floorwork in between spins to get your balance back. Doing spins back to back to back is a sure way to get yourself dizzy 🙂
