Calipolepixie – good to hear you’ve decided to go to nursing school.. I admire your drive. I work in an Er, I was shy and a push over before I became an Er nurse. Well that’s well in the past thanks to my job lol. Cnas work their butts off as well and it’s also very hard work. I would like to try the chat on here, I lost a lot of strength from not doing it for a while cause my studio is on the skids and may close😔. So I guess what I’m saying is I need help to get back to where I was in the summer. I’m back to basics. My dream is to finally get the shoulder mount and also ballerina spin. It would be cool if the pole jam video session works out!

Yes I am a nurse as well, amorphic and work 12 hr nights. Is it necessary to have a webcam to do video sessions cause I don’t have one.I only have the camera on my iPad. Veena- I never used the chat on the site. How do I use it for video sessions? I thought it was purely for chatting/texting. Im not very savvy when it comes to technology obviously.

I’m going to join the challenge as well. Never was able to do full split and I would love to be able to finally do one. I just started training last night and hope to see progress with consistent work at it. I’m using veenas splits lessons and Cleo’s rocking legs n abs dvd.

Hey there apolemorphic and everyone! I work 12 hour nights and would be willing to try skyping. Problem is last time I tried to do it it asked for a US code and had no idea where to find it or what it was. If anyone would be able to trouble shoot I would be up for skype sessions. I used an iPad at that time and now also have an iPad mini if that helps with figuring out the issue.

  • My hubby had back surgery in march. His was a 2 level lumbar fusion, rod and screw placement, removal of splintered bone particles from a lumbar fracture, disc reduction in 3 discs due to herniations. He is in therapy and will not be 100% function pre injury for a yr. I am not an expert on this but I believe they would replace the herniated disc with an artificial disc. I’ve also heard of them doing something referred to a a cement spacer. I would imagine it would be about at least 9 month recovery (just an educated guess). A lot of people get relief with steroid injections for herniations through pain management and don’t have surgery. I wish you the best in your journey to get pain relief. Back pain is an awful thing that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.

I wear my hair up in a messy bun with a Bolderband headband cause I sweat like a maniac. I wouldn’t want to wear my hair down. I can’t stand feeling my hair being all sweaty in my face. Do what makes YOU comfortable. Pole can be freeing hair up or down.

AllysonKendal we have gone many times to vacation in jersey. We rented a place yearly in ocean city New Jersey. I also was in wildwood,nj this summer. Oh and we got to AC a lot stayed at Caesars. The homes are a lot more in nj and found that rehoboth beach is the best value and has so much to offer that we decided to buy there. The cape may ferry is not far from rehoboth so it wouldn’t be impossible to hit jersey once in a while. Which beach are you close to in jersey?

Thanks for the advice web junk. I will look into the manufacturer like you said. I would love to bring my pole to the vacation place. There is a studio outside ocean city Maryland if I can’t have my pole there. Would be about an hour drive from rehoboth.

I got a nice large mirror for my pole room at walmart for about $40. It is great! You can free stand/lean it against a wall or hang it. I just have mine leaning against the wall. I liked it so much I got one for master bedroom. It was a “better homes and gardens” mirror. The krabb mirrors from IKEA are nice too. U could use one or put two or three together for a stylish look.

I would jump on this since Baltimore is only 2 hours from me and I’ve always wanted to go to a pole convention. Unfortunately I will have to work those days and have family plans right after that. Sites around inner Harbour, Fel’s point, the Aquarium are all very cool to check out if you’ve never been. There is also a really neat area in inner Harbour called power plant live. They have bands, bars, piano bars etc. I think you can get in there with an underage bracelet that they give you at the gate. Oh and don’t forget to check out Camden Yards too!

I too felt like you when I first started poling. When I first started poling I couldn’t pole climb/ basic stuff everyone else in class had already. My profile pic is my greatest accomplishment I achieved in November. So it IS possible to get there with regular practice. Sadly I’ve had some bad things happen in the last 2 months that have drained my enthusiasm to pole at home and go to class. Also I know I will be frustrated when I do pole again since I’ve probably lost strength so I’ll be feeling like I’m starting over 🙁

I have my stainless pole in our finished basement which is always cold in the winter. I’ve been thinking about getting a pole warmer that I’ve seen advertised through this site. Maybe one of those would help your situation as well?…

I think that is a really great idea. I’d love to see something like this too. Maybe Veena can come up with some cardio pole lessons for us on this site.

I run on my treadmill before I pole. I know how many calories I burn running so pole is an extra unknown calorie burn for me.

My studio classes are taught on spinning poles. I would like to have some static classes and I’ve mentioned this to my instructors. I have a static/spin pole too at home and its mostly on static to learn moves. Do what feels best to you. No right or wrong choice. They’re both fun 🙂

    Hi,

i've been poling since may and did a basic invert recently on my home pole and in class. i'm not an expert on the subject but holy crap you should be given some time to advance when you feel confident with the previous move. in other words work next on extending into a full invert with hands on pole above your head and then try hands free when you trust and master the full invert with hands on pole. does your instructor know your experience level? I wouldn't feel shy about telling her you are not ready or comfortable with something. also you can try inverted stuff low to ground first until youre confident.

I’ve had my belly button pierced 3 times. I had my 1st one in for like 4-5 years with no problem and all of a sudden it got infected. I took an antibiotic, cleaned it with soap/water but it ended up having to be taken out. The 2nd one was done very shallow by another piercer, it got red and eventually rejected. The 3rd was done by yet another piercer. It was not easy for her due to scar tissue that developed. It too rejected 8 months later. I’ve tried titanium and surgical steel. My cartilage piercings in my ears are surgical steel and I have no problems with them. I’d love to have a navel piercing again if I could keep it from rejecting. Interesting about not turning the piercing cause they all had me turn it with cleaning, they did tell me never to use bacitracin ointment, and I used a sea salt spray to it while the piercing was “angry” each time.
