Hey Jeny how big are your hands? Just curious, because I have never used anything but a 50. From the tip of my fingers to the base of my palm is about 6 inches

I was actually wondering this too. Also, how do you arrange shipping?

That is a good point! I should probably sell it while it has only been used a handful of times!

Though I am relatively new to pole, I have participated in my fair share of local figure skating competitions. I am not particularly interested in participating in a pole competition, but I do agree that USPDF is rather new.
I can recall a time when figure skaters would go to international competitions like the Olympics and be provided with inadequate ice quality to practice on while home country competitors would be treated with immensely better practice conditions.
I think the fact that USPDF submissions are in the form of PUBLIC YouTube videos gives an unfair advantage to late entrants and disadvantage to early entrants. In figure skating basic skills competitions, you compete with skaters at the level listed on your registration form. This level is defined by tests passed at USFSA sanctioned test sessions with qualified judges and clear requirements for passing. Is there some subjectivity? YES. It’s the very nature of such an artistic sport! The problem iswith that there are just so many things that are unregulated and unstandardized in pole dancing that it results in issues like this.
However, this is how organizations and competitions start out, and it is also why changes are made! Was figure skating always perfect and fair? No. But changes were periodically made as the sport evolved so that things could become more regulated and fair. Is it perfect? Of course not, and it certainly doesn’t always seem fair. However, I think USPDF should hear these types of concerns so guidelines can CLEARLY be laid out, unfair advantages/disadvantages can be eliminated, instructors can be properly certified, etc.

Oh man now I feel silly for the response I posted earlier… I totally forgot I had to clean off that slippery coating when I first got my pole! Oops!

What do you mean by breaking it in? It should just be ready to go. You may just have to practice on it to get used to the diameter or finish if it’s different from a pole you usually use.

It may be overtightened; my pole did exactly this until I was told it might be too tight and now it spins smoothly and quietly (though ever so slightly bent…not enough to really bother me though, and it doesn’t seem to be getting any worse).
To remedy this, once I get my pole leveled out, I’ll tighten it just enough that it doesn’t move given a good gorilla shake and a fireman spin. It might take longer if I have to readjust but at least I know it’s set up right!

I personally got a chrome pole for a few reasons. One, it was the only pole I had experience using in a studio (didn’t want to get a different type of finish if I had no idea how my skin would grip it). Two, I’ve heard chrome is a pretty good basic pole to start out on if you’re not sure. I certainly have good grip days and bad grip days, but overall I am happy with my chrome pole and definitely feel like my grip strength is improving.
I did get a 50mm pole, which I regret a little bit because I second-guessed myself out of getting a 45mm. However, as aforementioned I do see improvement in my ability to grip the pole and my boyfriend always reminds me if I can dance on a 50 I will certainly be able to dance on a 45 someday! Someday I will probably end up purchasing a 45mm but for now I like my 50mm.

Really?! Interesting…that makes me excited! I would imagine putting my pole up would leave a ring of flat, untextured ceiling where the pole was.

Does your pole ruin the ceiling? My WHOLE HOUSE has these popcorn/cottage cheese ceilings so I pole in the garage and if this didn't ruin the ceilings I would love to pole in the climate-controlled house
