Perhaps it should be noted that I don't have a teenage daughter to throttle…I AM the teenage daughter I'm sure my mom wants to throttle sometimes https://www.studioveena.com/img/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif lol!

This is a tough spot for any mother, I'm sure. My mom hated one of my ex-boyfriends and she and I fought CONSTANTLY about how she wanted us to break up. However, I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. He and I obviously weren't meant to be (he ended up breaking up with me for my best friend at the time; they are a really great couple though, I even realized it back then even though I was hurt) and fate ran its course and we ended up breaking up and much happier for it.

Remember that she's young and love (young love especially) is pretty blind. You're her mother though, and as such your opinion should mean something to her (even if she doesn't immediately acknowledge that it does). I think 20 and 17 can be a significant age difference at that age, which probably adds to your concerns. Perhaps you and your daughter could do something fun together and when the moment is right you could bring up your concerns to her and discuss — not fight about — them? I've found that my mom and I find it easiest to have level-headed discussions about precarious topics when the mood is just right and we are getting along especially well.

Being that she is so young, a lot of the advice you give her is likely to sink in later, at which point she will realize the truth of your words. At least, that's how it is for me. She's probably less likely to absorb any of it, however, if it's an argument about her boyfriend rather than a calm discussion about your concerns.

Similar story with me too. First and only pole class I have ever attended – a beginners class, of course – and we were learning INVERTS. How did we get into them? Kick and hope for the best! How dangerous!

I already had a lot of core strength before I started poling, but no arm strength at that point. Most of the other beginners could barely even kick up very high and had to have the instructor spot (or perhaps I should say "lift") them to get upside down on the pole. Needless to say I have not gone back (partially because I didn't want to spend all the money on lessons as a broke college student!)

Bronny, it’s not sold yet. I may have a seller but I’m still waiting to see if it works out with her.

  • Ok will do! 🙂 I’ll send you a message within the next couple of days

  • I’m currently selling my 4-month-old 50mm chrome Xpert that has only been used about 10 times. I may have a seller already but if it doesn’t work out with her I can let you know!

When I first got my pole I did what Sanbar did and also extended my leg as far as I could out to the side to make sure I wouldn't kick anything. I was paranoid about kicking something! Ouch!

Is there a correlation between using grip and the color fading?

Because it’s so new I’m hoping for about $250 including the 500mm extension I got for the pole (my ceilings are just over 9 feet). I am willing to negotiate though! 🙂

Thanks, Kitty, I actually ordered a 45 last night!!! 🙂 I really wanted a 40 but I dont want to get too used to it, like you said. Then I’m going to use the box from my 45 to ship my 50 when I sell it, since I couldn’t find a great fitting box haha

Interesting! Well that's good to hear that it does not affect the grip of the pole, but wouldn't you think X-Pole would come up with a colorless grip-aiding finish to avoid this gold-wearing-off issue? Just a thought! haha 🙂

Has anyone had issues with the gold on TG wearing off over time? I remember reading about that happening and that's one of the reasons why I'm a little hesitant to purchase a TG (that and I don't know for sure how my grip will be on it)
