@KellieM vicious circle, but if you’re nervous at the studio about your grip, it won’t help. It’s why I didn’t like training in a studio…
-
I use vinegar to clean mine.
I think I read you can use nail varnish remover, but not so good if you’re wiping your pole down between moves (like I do lol)

I started on pole and went on to lyra a few years ago when we moved onto a boat and no longer had space for a pole and had to train outside on the a frame.
When we moved back into a flat I could have a pole again, but now my lyra is just for fun outside, I find a standard ceiling is too low for it to be fun. -
Pole has been frustrating the last week in the new house, as my xpert doesn’t seem to spin right and seems to slip… need to get my husband to attach the ceiling mount… Coupled with my daughter getting used to the new house she disturbs my pole sessions too, deciding it’s time to stretch and getting in the way 🙁 and as the b pole has hardly been used I feel I don’t stick too well to it…
But got on the lyra in the garden yesterday XD
-
I got my lyra out for the first time in ages on Wednesday and killed my hands after 45 mins, lol so I have the opposite problem. Now I have to wait for my popped blisters to heal before I can do any pole or lyra…first world problems hehe
-
Hope you feel better soon Veena!
We’ve moved into our house, yeah, but no internet there yet, so here’s my summary for the week:
Monday quick pole session in the flat on my xstage
Tuesday moving and unpacking
Wednesday- first time on the a frame and lyra since September (the ceilings are too low inside I feel) since before baby #2 was born. Lots of fun BUT i got blisters which popped as my hands aren’t conditioned…I’ll post a video when our internet is sorted. So when we set up the xpert yesterday at the house my hands were too sore with the popped blisters to do anything on it (and the spin isn’t right either, it spins too slowly, it must be overtightened. Also we’ve never set it up without the mount, so the dome might not be right either)

@claudiablojiu1591 I don’t have any boots but have sandals like in Veena’s picture (with and without ankle strap) and don’t have any scratches on my pole.
You should practise new moves without shoes first and choose shoes without unnecessary buckles, rhinestones etc. -
Pole session between packing for the move today. Did conditioning on the pole, lots of fan kicks, pole pull ups on and off pole, practised some left handed spins.
@Veena, I will probably miss her poling with me when she’s older and too cool for her mum but at the moment it can be frustrating (particularly as she ignores the pole until I want to train) as she can be quite bossy XD

Thanks Veena 🙂
So we’re moving house soon and we spent the weekend sorting it, the garden, renovating the wardrobe. It was FANTASTIC weather on Saturday so we’d taken my A frame and lyra….but the top bar had twisted round inside and we hadn’t got our pliers…so no lyra on saturday. Sunday it was raining so although we’d taken pliers it was bad weather and I hate doing lyra with a low (2.68m) ceiling. BUT we’d taken my Xpert so on Sunday I wanted to put that up. Turned out my husband had packed the top pole of my xstage in with the xpert and so we didn’t have enough extensions… Then yesterday we were sorting the house too but it was FREEZING so didn’t try putting up the A frame and even started to snow (didn’t stick though).
But husband was working today so was home today so got to pole again, yay! Worked on getting up off the floor and tried a floor invert from kneeling which was interesting. When I’m strong enough again for a Gemini climb that will be good.
My 2 year old has also progressed from pole walks to spins. She also puts on a bikini top to pole as well now XD

Pole training today. My two year old was asleep for most of it, so I could wear heels without someone else wanting to wear heels too- yay! Freestyles went well actually. My Jade is looking quite good atm actually and I’m improving on spins, so pleased.
-
Today was a rest day,but poled yesterday and it went quite well. I did a couple of freestyles on static, which I haven’t done for years! Tried out Dragon’s tail, the legs aren’t pretty but I can get into the move, so I’m pleased with that.
I realised today that I trained everyday this week except Monday. It’s strange training with small children, you think you have to exploit every free moment because you never know when you’ll get another chance. -
Never done it but… if it were me I would try to sell your current pole and buy a new one.
I agree with Sparrow. I have a chrome pole and struggle in hot weather with the sweat.

Conditioning this morning in an online fitness class for pregnant ladies I gave. Usually I do courses outside but…corona has closed everything.
Then after lunch pole. I feel like I’m getting worse on my stamina for freestyles. Last week I felt like I was doing so well, 3-4 minute freestyles with an aerial invert and spinning, and pretty climbs, the last few sessions seem to have been not so good. Luckily husband is home at the weekend so he can look after the children and I can finally pole on my own.
My plan for the next few sessions is to work on new transitions, plan some choreos. I end up doing the same moves over and over, same transitions. So time to look through the lessons and plan my sessions and set some targets.

Thanks, that sounds good!
A mat would be good but I like my heels too much 😛

Yesterday a 7 mile bike ride, today pole. I really wanted to film a good freestyle today, one without my 2 year old daughter running in and out of the camera, which took aaagggeees to achieve. Frustrating.
Schools and nurseries have closed until after the Easter holidays in our area, so I wonder how much training I will get done in that time juggling both children. On the other hand I will be less busy (I work as a fitness instructor part-time) due to all the leisure restrictions being brought in over here. -

MemberMarch 17, 2020 at 7:07 pm in reply to: Post partum returning to pole not what i expectedI feel you, being hospitalised for 2 months must have been hell. I had to stop pole/lyra at 30 weeks of pregnancy with baby #2 as I strained my abs- I was so annoyed with myself not being able to do dance after that- every time I tried to even just do conditioning I got paranoid I’d pulled a muscle again.
Baby #2 is 3 months old now, and 3 weeks before he was born I had to go to hospital as they thought I might have had preeclampsia. So I was in for observation, checking blood pressure, CTGs 3 times a day, urine and blood tests. It was frustrating as I felt fine and hospitals are boring if you feel fine. Luckily I was allowed to go home, but did have to keep going back to hospital for extra blood tests.
I can understand your frustration at not getting your weight back. I was never skinny, after baby #1 I got down to 60kg and I looked good, had the beginnings of a sixpack… I’m 7kg away from that aim now.
Actually getting full workouts as a mum is an achievement in itself.
I’m on maternity leave with baby #2 and breastfeeding. Sometimes he sleeps while I train (less often), usually he lies on the floor or in his bouncer watching. But he doesn’t always lie happily long enough for me to get a good workout. Then on weekends when my 2 year old is home from nursery it’s juggling his feeding patterns with her, keeping her off the pole long enough for me to train AND stopping her from doing inappropriate things to her little brother (feeding him playdough, jumping over him etc). She isn’t interested in the pole when I’m not using it, but sometimes when I want to pole, she wants to as well. Luckily not always.Getting rest days in between training sessions and/or cross training is important. I noticed this myself a couple of weeks ago, squeezing in an extra training day on the day after an intense session on the grounds that I would be going to my parent’s the following day and not poling for a week. The extra session wasn’t as good (not as pretty, not as much stamina).
-
@Micheru that’s not good, hopefully someone else can give feedback on the Xpole one then!
I already have the ceiling mount for the Xpert so not looking to change to Lupit. -
Thanks Veena!
That sounds safe enough, I will think over whether I think it’s worth the extra money 😉

I feel safe on mine without extended legs and without sandbags, but I’m only intermediate and train only on spinning so I’m not throwing my weight around it as much as other people probably do 😉
But agree with Serzi, the stage part is annoying. But on the otherhand, your heels aren’t ruining your floor. We have wooden floor which I am worried about walking over in my heels as it’s a rental.

Got back yesterday from staying with my parents for a week. Managed one outdoor workout session while I was there doing body weight training.
Today was my first pole session since Wednesday last week. My two year old daughter was home, as she didn’t want to go to nursery today after being off for a week, so today’s session got cut short when she started stepping over her baby brother. Will try to post a video later from today’s session!

Squeezed in a pole session on Thursday, yesterday was a rest day with just 12km cycling.
Poled today as best I could, but my 2 year old daughter was trying to hog the pole and delegate me to the TRX. Surprisingly, when I said I wanted to film myself, she was ok with going back to her own toys.
Slowly building my strength back up again. I’m starting to be able to do a slow spinning invert, and I can do an invert from a climb again as well (only on my good side though). Working on making everything look pretty at the moment more than bagging tricks. Can manage 3-4minute freestyles too, so quite pleased with where things are going, considering I took a break from October to February. -
This is a great idea!
Managed to squeeze in a short training session today and yesterday, half floor training (plank variations mostly) and half pole.
Still building up my strength postpartum and baby is 10 weeks old, so it’s tricky to squeeze training in between nursing sessions. Currently working on climbing spinning freestyles and getting back to where I was polewise a year ago. -
40mm would probably be best if you have small hands.
I have a 40mm pole as my hand grip is the weak link in my poling, and I do lyra too and prefer a smaller diamter of tube on that too (my first lyra was 34mm but I now have a narrower one, 28mm if I’m not mistaken.
For me, Tite Grip works against sweaty hands. -
This thread has left me unsure of my next pole. I was convinced I wanted powder coated 40mm- I’d never considered brass as is more expensive…decisions, decisions!

I used to use mine outside in the UK all year round (coldest temperature was I think around 5 degrees) just not when it rained, but we were living on a canal boat at the time and it was my only option (I was also working outside so weatherproof). So possible depending on how outdoorsy you are and whether you have a garden or somewhere very close to put it up. And how flexible you are on time as you don’t want to put it up in rain.
We now live in a 3rd floor flat so I rarely use it outside now but mainly because of the stairs and the walk to the nice part of grass and keeping my 2 year old occupied without her running away BUT we’re moving into a house with garden soon so am looking forward to using it outside more again 🙂 I don’t like using mine inside as our ceilings are imo too low (2.6m) and feel too restricted and focus on pole inside instead.
